Thanks, I hope I can use this to get a more normal stabilizing. A lot of times after the stabilize the screen is going really weird ( btw he's a vampire hehe :P ) Maybe I was tweaking too much with the settings, I left it like it was and it seems better at least with my latest project. There is no way to skip Analyze, I presume? I thought I did in the past by just pressing enter and have it done right away but that must have been something else.
@VideoRevealed

If you're getting artifacts, change the Method so something other than Subspace Warp. It's important to note that highly compressed video and video shot with a DSLR isn't the best to stabilize so you may see more issues when using that type of footage.
@sirfrancisarthur

I can still see it when things move too fast, then it is starting to look unnaturally literally warped and stretched out like a piece of cloth with a drawing on it. I still need to do more tests if such moments can be isolated in their own warp settings and make it look less alien. I did a few like that but that was a very long time ago

There is no way to fix a stabilization problem. It either works on the footage you're trying to stabilize, or it doesn't. I've had it fail before too. You may want to try using After Effects as it's stabilization is much better.

Trying to learn from your videos about editing with Adobe Premiere. I am currently unable to get the warp stabilizer to work on my video. It is jerky and not smooth at all. My video is shot with a GoPro. Any idea why this might be happening?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the very late reply. GoPro footage is very compressed and stabilization software doesn't work well with that. I've found that if stabilization fails, there's nothing you can do. It either works or not.

I’ve always wondered why warp stabilizer works better after neasting a clip, does anyone know the answer?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 5 жыл бұрын
The only reason it could be "better" is because the frame rate is now the same as the Sequence where you're applying the effect.
@steveloudon7491
@steveloudon7491 Жыл бұрын
I noticed you left "smoothness" at 50 percent. Many other tutorials on this subject say to lower that substantially to about 8-12%. Can you comment on that please. Thanks. Watch you all the time.

Thank you for this video, Colin! Now i know more about tuning warp stabilization for my video. But i have one question: how to stabilized video when i also use effect slow motion? When i was using Sony Vegas, it was working, but in Premiere Pro i coudn't.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 8 жыл бұрын
+Dmitry Pakseev - The Warp Stabilizer in both Premiere Pro and After Effects, requires the original video to not have any changes in resolution, frame rate, etc. If you want to run it on slow motion you could try nesting the slow motion sequence or output a new video with the slow motion effect, then reimport it and stabilize that.

You know it's finished when the orange "Stabilizing" banner has disappeared. If you get a warning that the clip could not be stabilized, then you're out of luck and it won't work on that clip. Clips that have a lot of compression, like mobile phone video, are hard to properly stabilize.

I'm not sure if you're saying you're missing options in the program or the stabilization isn't working for your particular clip? The options I'm showing are in all the latest versions of Premiere Pro. If you're having problems stabilizing a clip and it's failing, there's nothing you can do. Either a clip works or it doesn't. If you have a clip with lots of compression or it's just moving too much, it will fail. If you're using video from a phone or drone, those types of files are very hard to stabilize because they are highly compressed.

The best way is to put the clip into a new Sequence that matches the clip exactly. Stabilize the clip, then put that Sequence into your main Timeline.

Hey David, that's for your kind words. There really is no substitute for shooting with a steadycam or gimbal because of the way they dampen the operator's movement and make the shot look like it's "floating".

Really well explained thank you. I do have a question, would it be better to use higher resolution to achieve best results or higher frame rate? ie 2.7k at 30fps or 2.7k at 60fps? same for 1080 30 vs 60? what would give adobe the best chance to smooth and stabilise?
@VideoRevealed

Larger frame size is the way to go. That way, you can reframe the shot any way you want because you have the extra image area.

Thanks for all of your tutorials. I love your work. Great communicator. I have a question. I shoot with the GH4 and when I shoot 4K I am unable to stabilize with the warp stabilizer. The sequence is set for 1080 and asks me if I want to change settings. I thought maybe I could create a separate sequence and then stabilize and then bring back into my timeline but there are no 4K sequence settings options that I can find in Premier CC (the latest version). Any thoughts?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 8 жыл бұрын
The Sequence and video clip must match to use Warp Stabilizer. Right-click on the 4k clip in the Project panel and choose Create Sequence from Clip. Once you stabilize it, drag that Sequence into the 1080p Sequence.

Hi, I have a little question with Adobe Premiere CC. If I film in 4K or 2.7k with a shaky video. What is the best solution in Premiere pro to stabilize and loosing a minimum of quality. The idea is to have a final video in 1080p. The goal is to take the benefit of the 2.7k to have a good video stabilisated in a 1080p sequence. How to do that ? There are 2-3 solutions to do that in Premiere pro. - Importing the 2.7 rush in my 1080 sequence and adjust the size of the 2.7k rush before stabilisation - Stabilise the 2.7 rush in a 2.7k sequence and import the stabilizated rush in a 1080p sequence. - Imbricate the 2.7 rush to be able to stabilize a rush who is not at the same size of the sequnce.. Tehre are so many solution... what is the best one ? Thank you in advance. (sorry for my english, it's not my mother tongue

Whenever I add warp stabilizer to a clip the video playback on my timeline lags so severely that I cannot watch it unless I render it therefore hindering my ability to edit the new stabilized footage, is there a way to fix this?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 4 жыл бұрын
The only reason I can think of is your graphics card is not powerful enough to accelerate this effect. You need at least 2 GB of video memory to even begin to accelerate effects. If you only have dedicated graphics, it's probably not enough power.
@steveschaefer5835

Sorry that's weird. I'm using the warp stabilizer. I'm shooting with an OSMO so the footage isn't horrible. But I'm not getting the stabilization you are showing in your video. Matter fact it doesn't look like it's working at all or very little. I cranked up the smoothness percentage and that doesn't seem to help much. Do you think it's because it's already a little bit stabilized premier doesn't recognize as movement? The movement is not as abrupt as it normally might be.
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 6 жыл бұрын
I've never tried to stabilize OSMO footage so you may be correct that the stabilizer just doesn't work with that type of footage.
@JimRobinson-colors
@JimRobinson-colors 7 жыл бұрын
When you send this footage for color grading to DaVinci is the footage still stabilized or is it an effect that needs to stay in Premiere? Maybe that particular clip needs to be rendered first? I am guessing that rendering that one clip might b e the answer. just wondering - thanks
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 7 жыл бұрын
Yes the effect needs to be rendered before sending to Resolve. You'd have to mark an In and Out on the Timeline then output that segment. You can then replace that clip in the Timeline with the new stabilized clip.

Want to make an hyperlapse of a video (e.g. a video of continuously walking in the street). In premiere pro Stabilizing and speeding after nesting the clip won't give me that hyperlapse effect. Any suggestion??. I got an android app called hyperlapse by microsoft, it did the work, I want the same work to be done using premiere pro.

Hello my friend! I tried following your advice, recording at 1920x1080 some images that could be unstable. My idea was to work in a 1280x720 timeline on PrCS6, warp-stabilizing and get the benefit of the scale if cropping occurs. The thing is, that 1920x1080 images are not accepted for wrap-stabilizing in a 1280x720 timeline... so, if you have any advice of how can I deal with this, thanks a lot!! Muchas gracias amigo!!
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 6 жыл бұрын
The footage and Sequence must match to apply Warp Stabilizer. Follow these steps: 1. Create a Sequence that is the same as the shaky footage (1080). 2. Place the shaky footage into the Sequence. 3. Apply Warp Stabilizer to the shaky footage. 4. Create a new Sequence that is 1280 X 720. 5 Place the 1080 Sequence with the stabilized footage into the 720 Sequence. (this is a Nested Sequence) 6. Right-click on the Nested Sequence and choose Set To Frame Size or manually scale it to 66.1%

Had a quick question about Warp Stabilizer. It seems to process slower and slower over time since i first started using it. I have a powerful graphics card / processor so it shouldn't have a problem. It was fast before. i've tried cleaning out the cache. Any tips to try and get the warp stablizer to process faster if it starts slowing down?
@VideoRevealed
@VideoRevealed 6 жыл бұрын
The analyzation process is not GPU accelerated so the graphics card does not help. Have you done a test with the same video clips and seen a difference in speed with older versions of Premiere Pro? How much of a difference are we talking? If the clips are not the same, then it could just be the analyzation takes longer with that specific content. If the clips are the same but the process is slower, I have no idea why. Sorry.

perhaps lock cpu core speed. most computers turn up the core speed when more power is needed, but it dosent give a stable overall performence, because it needs to figure out how much performance is needed depending on the task it need to operate. so locking the cores at maximum speed tells the computer to perform at maximum all the time. a downside is that your electric bill might increase a bit.
@TheBronzorN
@TheBronzorN 6 жыл бұрын
look at your cpu usage in task manager when doing the stabilizing process. if its not at 100% all the time, you might get a performance boost locking the cores to 100%
