Vietnam opened its first ever urban railway line in Hanoi on November 6, 2021. Authorities say they hope the Chinese-built metro service will ease traffic congestion and pollution that has been a long-standing issue in the nation’s capital known for its dense crowds of motorbikes.

The most ridiculous thing is that the city paid a high price to a French consultant to inspect the safetiness and quality of China built train with Chinese tech. The French consultant approved the safety of this metro. Still, the city had to inspect again and 2 or 3 departments pushed the responsibility back and forth among themselves and didn't approve and didn't sign off the project.

Other countries domestic laws and political systems are not as efficient as Chinese obviously. Also extra logistic problems since China can just transport everything locally but China needs to transport from China to their country or find other suppliers, and also some countries want to use domestic workers or wants China to train them, so it will cost more and take much longer than if they used just the experienced and fast Chinese workers.

I feel like this is something Vietnam could have done in the past proper public transport in the urban cities itself. Back when I visited Vietnam, heavy traffic was a common occurrence and riding on the bus to destination sites were long. Maybe it could be due to cost of resources for to create trains and station or urban geography that made it difficult to build a train line in a compact city.

This trains are actually built by BSR, not CRRC! BSR, or the Beijing Subway Rollingstock 京车装备 北京地铁大修厂, is the only other company in China that can build subway trains. Though its actually a Beijing subway maintenance depot, and has much poor quality than CRRC's trains, but its much cheaper also heavily subsided by Beijing gov, trying to get rid of CR and CRRC's affects. And they are very similar to Beijing subway line 9/Yizhuang trains.
