I'm from Se Portland, but I've been in Vietnam for 2 years now, currently in Mui Ne. I rarely feel homesick because I live here and it's so nice, but I was crying while watching this. You showed the places where I went to school and where I worked, even the big super market where I shopped. And showed me that there's even a an chay restaurant back home! I grew up in NE Portland and I never really thought about how many Vietnamese kids there were in my elementary and middle school. I just thought of them as kids just like myself; except their home cooking was a little too complex for my traditional American palate. Now as an adult I can truly appreciate their influence on the neighborhood and absolutely love the variety of markets and restaurants.

Theirs were so addictive), Noodle World in Calgary has really good com tam, especially their cha trung (egg meatloaf). In fact, my mom says it tastes exactly like how she remembers it from Vietnam. didn't know you were from portland Max! I'm a portland resident myself too. I was visiting Vietnam for a few months and found your channel. You're spreading lots of positive Vietnamese culture, interesting lifestyles, and exhilarating landscapes. If you happen to be in Portland when I'm here I would gladly take you to enjoy a Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant. Promise it will blow you away.

Dude, the way you spell "banh mi" and "ca phe sua da"(icy coffee), "bun bo hue"(Hue's beef noodle), "nhieu"(much) almost like native Vietnamese, and the way you introduce Vietnamese foods in restaurants running by Vietnamese overseas community really impressed me. I hope someday can visit the US and try myself the smelly, delicious cuisines made by these talented chefs who bring our Vietnamese culture to the world. Anyways, love your content and the way your portrayed our delicacies. You got a new subscriber!

Glad you could visit Portland, its my hometown 😁 I'm an American born Vietnamese (parents were vietnam war era immigrants) and yes the Viet community around here is great. I've only had the chance to visit Vietnam once in the past though, but hope to go again soon when I get the chance. Your vlogs in Vietnam have been a blast to watch in the meantime though.
