ஆம் அந்த பாடலும் இதே ராகம் தான்...அதைத்தான் அவர் சொல்லி இருக்கிறார்...இந்த பாடலுக்கு பிறகு அந்த ராகம் சில பாடல்களில் உபயோகப்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறது... உதாரணம் - அழகான ராட்சசியே, சுடும் நிலவு , கண்கள் இரண்டால்....

your allusions to similarities are too wide & wild ..in that case..those songs which you say are original are also very similar to earlier tamil and hindi numbers...i can give you a plethora of examples...similarities in situations, in styles and sometimes in the raga are all not be seen as copied.....if so, then most of the songs have precedents...and many songs are inspired by many earlier numbers some of which may not have come from movies....your objective appears to belittle Raja only....for example just style of rendition in oru iniya manathu and enna paravai dont make similarities...and of course...all music directors take inspirations....many of MSVs and other MDs have also been inspired by other earlier numbers..just a single line similarity doesnt make a song a copy...it might give them an idea and from there it is their creativity ..and sometimes there will be parallelisms...like senthamizh paadum and ilaiyanila...but for that first line thereafter both songs are very different even in scale and ragam and style...but many of your examples are wrong...for eg., thendral vanthu ennai thodum....is more similar with the carnatic kruthi...pandureethi kolu...from which the song has been inspired...than muthukkalo kangal.(totally different ragam !!)..and janani, nee oru kathal and amma endrazhaikkaatha are all kalyani ragam which is also the ragam of sinthanai sei maname...if this is considered copying then, sinthanai sei maname is a copy of carnatic kruthis made in kalyani already in existence.-many of your examples dont even match by raga and scale - just a style or the metre, the feel or the similarity in the phrase....if you are going to call all these similar ones..then all those MSV examples which you gave can also be traced to some earlier songs...with such a wild guessing and matching...paying no heed to what raga or scale or style each one belongs.and just taking a very broad and gross similarity that too prima facie...it only smacks of ignorance of music , ragas and scales...sorry to say....!

And when Annakkili came...initially no one went to see the movie for the MD...that is a fact...but after a few weeks the movie was taken away from the theatres...in TN..and then only the songs brought the ppl back to see the movie which was on shifting (distribution parlance)...and that is where the movie ran to packed houses,..and even silver jubilee....in fact Sujatha gained a lot of fans only after this movie...there were some who went to see sujatha or sivakumar only in the first few weeks..but thereafter...?? no one can hide history...and fact !

For the records- this song which is in rithigaulai ragam does not have to be inspired from anything else but from the raga's arohanam itself....the arohanam is sa ga ri ga ma ni da ma ni ni sa....and if the vakra part ni da ma is removed and sung...sa ga ri ga ma ni ni sa..if played brings the first line - chinnakkannan azhaikkiraan.....!! That is it ! If this is copying then all MDs including MSV and ARR have copied other songs...which is actually inspiration..... if just the feel is to be considered then unnidaththil ennaikkoduththen song is inspired by jaayiye aap kahaan song from teri sanam movie and i can bring examples for many MSV and even ARR songs (he uses loops that exist and with this kind of yardstick even that can be called copying ...OMG ) and is a song just a small tune alone...??? if the first line appears like or even assuming is taken from another song...does it end there itself...??? Then it only means ignorance of music and poor understanding of it...! music was good before IR and after IR ....so the hatred is only against him...and all those who listened to him and liked are all fools...and I/we are great musical connoissuers!!! Is it...? believing what a biased mind says is a self-deception and will make us a cat who assumes the world darkens when it closes it eyes...! If we start hating something then we will never notice the good things in it...even MSV music started appearing stereotyped because he had made so many songs ....and that is why another MD came up..today there are many composers and even ARR is not dominating the scene anymore ....it always happens to all prolific makers...that is why today ppl space out their creations and dont bring one after another..which makers, composers, actors of those days didnt think of... and Manirathnam stuck to ARR because he finds it comfortable with him...simple...and no one will forget all those great songs he did with IR...whether you like it or not...that can never be erased..even sundari song's pieces are used as ringtones by so many ppl ...today's music lovers are not fanatics like ppl of those days...after ARR there is no more such jingoism and self deception ...because music today is liberalised !

Since he came in for lots of criticism, got the traing from TG.Gopalakrishnan along with Teeban Chakraborty. MSV has never said he hasn't copied, but to embed the original from being easily recognized. Any of that sorts of his hard to testify, while Annakkili debutant's, little easier. He is the one who initiated this inspiration vs imitation, on his stage events, tried to be pre-eminent in music. Others never do. He puts himself into this. Therefore his theft in music is ethically exposed. Cinema songs for situation ,not to pre tuning from good ones to make another one hit. Songs must be composed for situations only. Going forward, songs are unnecessary, as we will continue the good songs already. We again stick our necks out to our stance over Annakkili debutant's cinema music. We have been listening Indian/ World music even in Jaffna, and for professional reasons living abroad last four decades. The good songs get us into retrospection. When visited to Jaffna, most the people wanted listen Naalai Namathe songs, yet a remade film, MSV was too smart to showcase them away from the Original. Again good music prevails irrespective of Eras. DOT
