You are so correct. I think it has a lot to do with his raising, and his love for her. He didn’t have to go take care of her, but he did. I really do believe these two loved each other. In the beginning I thought it was crazy and I did for many years. But when they kept ranking in anniversary years, I thought maybe there is more to this than what I thought. No she should not have been messing with her student but she did. I just pray that she’s in peace. And as far as I can say Villy I know that’s not spelled correctly sorry, is a true man for what he did. I loving true man. Yes I’m sure it had a lot to do with the children but still he did the right thing and more power to him!

Vili is currently the longest public case study of the long-term effects of sexual abuse on a male student by a female teacher. With the recent and similar case of Brittany Zamora grooming and abusing one of her 13-year-old students, people have been saying that the victim wouldn't be negatively affected, that he would just be getting high-fives from his friends and moving on with his life. They should look at how Vili has been holding up for 24 years. Even though he married his abuser and had a family with her, he has struggled with his mental health all this time and will probably continue to do so for the rest of his life. Brittany Zamora's victim won't grow up unscathed. No victim of child sexual abuse ever does.

You are exaggerating in your comment. I think that the way he expresses himself about her and the way in which he took care of her until her death says a lot about him as a human being but also what it meant in his life and I think that without being mistaken it was the love of his life. .. Many men marry girls of 14 or 15 years old and no one flaunts it, no one calls them pedophiles... Maybe what happened in their love story was not common but they fought despite all the negative comments from people and were together until the end... that is deep love

Wow what a nice anecdote. Dont listen to these people. Im glad that you shared! Love is SO very complicated. I've always been in disbelief over how Vili and Mary could possibly have been able to forge such a strong connection with one another considering the massive abyss that constitutes their age disparity. However, now that he is an adult we need to be respectful of his journey thru life and try our best not to be hateful or judgemental. I fell in love with a man 15 years older than me and we were together for 4 years and I had a daughter with him. However, I was 34 and he was 49 when we met, not 12 and 34 like vili and Mary, which I must say is a WAY more troubling disparity in terms of life experience and maturity... but I digress.. it's nice to hear from someone who might know and understand the inner workings of these two people more than I could

with all due respect for both of them, this is the real 'love against all odds'... The way he tried to explain the kind of love they have experienced, although because of such a young age he is still trying to come into grips with what he really felt at the time. It was good to see though that he realized Mary's love for him was not the sort of paedophile perversion as it only was with him. She saw something in him even at a very young age, just so sad that he could have said these same words while she was still alive. Past interviews made it look like she was the only one trying to explain everything that most people wouldn't really understand... May her soul rest in true peace knowing she lived and loved well...

It would be a lot to process, and I would think now that she's gone, he will have more of an opportunity to do that. I think another aspect of this story that isn't explored very much, is the impact of this on the 4 kids from her 1st marriage. What happened to them? We forgive other criminals like George Floyd who put a gun on a pregnant woman's belly and that other fellow who raped a woman and was shot by police but we can't forgive this white lady. Plus educate yourself on how many male predators are walking free and nobody bats an eye and the one's who rarely are prosecuted get harsher sentences because they are repeat offenders or they killed their victims. You will never see dude's demanding for another dude's arrest but there's always dumb females running to a man's defense whether he's right or wrong but mostly wrong.

He really sounds like a very compassionate and intelligent person, the way he always pauses before articulating a thought. Becoming a father at such a young age must have been very difficult at the time. But having your lover ripped out of your life and all of society condemning your relationship with the person that you actually really love, without seeing the positive aspects of the human relationship between them too, must have been hard for him as well. It probably still is, because most people tend to think in black and white only, unable to recognize that there is so much complexity in between just good and bad. I simply wish the best for him and his daughters. ❤️

I got that same feeling like he felt sad that she was gone but almost like a relief for him n he could finally get some closure. I’ve heard he’s come out recently n does admit looking back that he was a victim n it’s affected him more than he realized. He even battled depression, alcoholism to deal with it. Hope the best for him, his kids, her kids, n even her ex husband. I can’t even imagine what this did to him as well.

He's very well spoken, and matured far better than most his age. Thank you for allowing him to share his side. It appears he became a very loving father to his daughters, and has great introspection which should help in his grieving processing. May his life continue to heal, and grow more loving as time goes on. Thank you for not monetizing this segment. If you do in the future, it would be nice if you donate the money toward his daughters' education. They didn't ask for this, yet they did get a really good dad. So many don't have one. Absent fathers are the downfall of society... in every way imaginable. (Look it up.)

I think going into it, anyone being interviewed would have to be aware that, for entertainment purposes, the interviewer is going to ask questions that are difficult to answer. That’s what people want to hear about, and what’s gets the views. But when you’re grieving, like he very obviously is, you’re not in the right state of mind to be grilled like this. I feel really sad for Vili in that sense, because regardless of anything else, scandalous past aside, here’s a guy who’s spent literally his entire life with a woman he’s still mourning the loss of, and his pain seems sort of trivialized by the continued questions about their age difference & what he would do if his daughters were in that situation. I feel like those questions are so tired, especially 20 years on, and the focus should be more about moving forward & what lies ahead now, with her passing, rather than always looking back on the scandal that took place before they built an actual, legitimate life & family together.

@@CStreis "his age" ! Age was never the issue! There are lots of relationships out there with a bigger age difference than these two had! Let's not turn a subject of taking advantage of a minor into an age discrimination thing! They are different topics. The issue was that he was under age and too young when this thing began. Her mistake was not keeping her feelings in check for his benefit and waiting until he was an adult. Now, we should just hope he finds someone who loves him, because he seems like a really great guy who deserves someone capable of caring for him in a more unselfish way, no matter her age. @@sexykrabz4185 I believe him when I hear him as an adult. Loving someone doesn't make that person right. He used to be a little boy, but now he is a functioning adult in his 30s. Stalkholm syndrome isn't present in statutory rape cases where the victim was pursuer. The victim's feelings pre-exist the crime. The crime is the older person taking advantage of a young person who is not emotionally ready or aware of future implications. She harmed him in different ways than a kidnapper would, including but not limited to making him a dad at 13, destroying his career before it started since he had to drop out of school to raise and support kids, and subjecting him to a media circus. There was something wrong with her. There is nothing wrong with him for loving. Her feelings for him as a child were pathological, but his feelings are not.

It was very wrong at the time when he was a child. But once he became an ADULT I don't think he was in any danger pyschologically. I mean look at how he turned out. Wow he faced so many things at that young age: -his parents being divorced -being poor -intimate with an adult, his teacher -the whole school knew -the whole city knew -all americans knew -his mother and her family being against that (of course) -no support at all -facing many trials at 13 -having kids at 13/14 -having a kid in jail -his "love" being in prison for 7 years with his second kid -being guided his life by someone who took advantage of the weakness and naivity of a kid -his kids being confronted with that truth But maybe he would never be that great father, that gentle and kind person he is today without those experiences he made. Think about it. I wish him a great wife who takes care of him the same way he took care of Mrs Kay.

1) One of his daughters went to jail? For what? 2) Don’t be silly. You wrote _“All Americans knew.”_ Americans are very busy people, with very busy lives. I was working and going to college, and then began my career when all of this drama was going on with them being exposed/going to court/etc. So I’ve never heard of them and their story until this very day. And I only learned about it because I saw an ad on KZfaq for a bizarre looking movie called “May December” - I couldn’t make out what the plot was about _AT ALL,_ so I decided to look it up on Wikipedia to read about it. Turns out the movie is loosely based on Mary Kay and Villi’s story, so that’s why I ended up randomly learning about these people all these years later.

The most recent interview him & Mary did as a couple & an update on their life years after the scandal was very bizarre & even without them saying it, you can see their marriage was falling apart she tried her hardest to prove to everyone that it was all still worth the sacrifice to be with a 12yr old child & show everyone who judged her by everyone and nobody believed it would ever last & she was there to prove to the world that how this really is a happily ever after fairytale in the end so i bet she was hoping for this update to free herself of such harsh public judgement she’s gotten all these years & can be given a little slack from people who call her a pedophile still. He looked like he was very uncomfortable answering questions about his marriage in front of Mary but when he was by himself with the interviewer he was honest about their marriage & u can tell without directly saying it that he was DONE & sticks it out for his kids.with her was unhappy it seemed as though Mary was very defensive & made it seem as though they “beat the odds & are going strong all these years later” which was painfully not the case at least for Villi & you can see how he much he resents her & holds a lot of regret being he was now her age she was when she was running around with him at 12... He clearly doesn’t give her the validation she is trying to get from him that he perused her relentlessly & she said she rejected his aggressive advances until she gave in... He was not about to accept full responsibility of this affair. she wanted him to have her back when she was defending herself it was so cringy hearing her make excuses & acted like he gave her no choice she said he was in control like a grown man is with a woman &justifying that there was nothing wrong with her sleeping with him at 12 bc she there’s a technical legal loophole law she says that gives the adult a pass legally based on the consent of both parties regardless of the age difference she accepted ZERO RESPONSIBILITY for anything & shifted full blame at him for being the Pursuing aggressor, it was actually interesting seeing how as an adult now he can’t relate to being romantically involved with a child.

@@Lambsear565 I think this was more of a "learn to love each other" situation, because of the kids and how long they've been with each other. The only reason they divorced at the end was because, with her prison record, he would not have been able to start a marijuana distillery which he wanted to do, if he was still legally married to her. It doesn't surprise me, after all those years together and 2 daughters, that he had grown to care very much for her. Most if not all media interviews do not pay the interviewees but just cover their expenses (transportation to/from the interview, any overnight hotel costs, meals, etc.) and I don't have a problem at all with this poor guy having a go-fund-me to handle funeral expenses and other expenses now being a single dad of 2 daughters...he's certainly been thru enough in his life. I definitely think it would help him (as therapy) and to get h-i-s version and feelings out about what happened in a book form, and again, might help financially to keep his family afloat...I'd read it!
