Beautiful description of a typical hispanic kitchen. Molcajete style has a different flavor because ingredients are mashed, and not cut. Brings out more flavor and natural sweetness. Very impressive.

I've been making and canning my own salsa for 20 years. Actually since I was in high school I got obsessed with it because I didn't like onion in my Salsa and the only way I could have salsa without onion was to make my own. Then I started learning how to can it to preserve it. I've never done a mortar and pestle Style salsa and I'm really excited to try it. Thank you

I'd made some spinach dip for my grand daughter and her Hispanic boyfriend thought it was horrid so I told him next time I made that dip for her I'd make salsa for him. I made your salsa recipe and sent it over. That night I got a call from her boyfriend. "um I have a question, are you sure you don't have any Mexican in you?" He couldn't believe anybody who wasn't Mexican could make a salsa that good. High praise indeed.

I'm actually going to try that way. I'm Romanian and I have in my kitchen what we call a mojar which looks quite similar to the molcajaete and we usually use it for grinding garlic and making sauce because, as you say, it makes a certain flavor come out. It's funny because I have that in my kitchen but I will have to go to a big supermarket to find a jalapeno as we have different types of hot peppers here. haha

seeing the similarities with other cultures is amazing! in the Dominican republic they use a similar thing like the molcajete, it's called Pilon, and it's made from wood, in it we mash everything that needs mashing, from garlic to spices, it's used for everything! there is not a Dominican home where you won't find a pilon carefully tucked away in the corner of the kitchen. love your channel.

Love you 4 this. I work with Mexicans. We drive Dump trucks and cook on the weekends. The Salsa is a staple. I deep fry turkey when it's my turn but they do the sides and Salsa is always there...thank you. That bowl and pedestal thing is what they tell me I need. You confirmed it. 💘
