When people are confident in their craft, they don't need to compete. Rather they compliment each other.

Nope, they have voices that match because of the unique difference in our culture, way of life and understanding everything that's outside of you as a person but still aprat of a sense of belonging and identity, and acknowledgment taken on board that makes us proud of who we are as a unit, that is also paved by our ancestors 🔥❤️👊😍

It's all about the music & the vibration of that music. If competition will enhance that music they will go there, but if blending is best for the music & the harmony then all competition will go out the window for that part of the song. My observation, as a musician who has played with, and listened a lot to my Maori/Polynesian brothers & sisters, Musical harmony is something that is a huge part of their culture, that many are exposed to from the womb on. The way that Maori & Pacific Islanders surrender the ego to that pure tone, that pure vibration, & allowing the spirit of the song to come through in the vocals, is something that I have admired, studied, & tried to embrace as a violin player. Their tones are so pure, but also can be very sweet & warm. When Maori sing together in harmony, you feel the vibration through your whole body. Music coming from the heart and the soul rather than the head and the ego.

Harmonies are natural for Māori when we sing and it is by ear that we can saaang, That is te ao Māori expressions of creativity.....our language is poetic in speech or in waiata. Love your reactions for our Māori artist whanau 💕💕💕

Bit of both, they've known each other for awhile so they've developed that chemistry through various projects together but they also come from cultures that love to sing. Another example of our culture would be a waiata (song) written to promote the Maori language. You may not understand the language but I think you'll appreciate the vibe. Maimoatia - Pūkana & Whānau

They're good mates, both recently married. (not to each other). They don't compete, they support and enhance to give a greater sound, to their audience. True, pros.😍🙏☝️

Your reactions are awesome, did you know he opened for Beyonce here in New Zealand and Australia? back in 2013. Anyway can you react to "STAN WALKER & JIREH BOYS - Draw Me Nearer" it's a worship song, Stan and the fams are just sitting in their living room having a jam sesh, its raw talent at its finest.

I think they've known each other for a while, but I believe depending on who the singers are and who they're singing with, their personality types etc there are no doubt competitive streaks and times when one will try to outdo or out'sing' the other.. but it takes a special kind of mutual respect, understanding, humility and overall love and appreciation for each other's talent and for your craft and music to really have a special connection and make great harmony and allow each other to showcase their talent and shine bright. That's the difference between 'singing a song' and 'creating a connection with your fellow artist AND your listener'.. the difference is GOOD and GREAT music. PLUSSSS, they're Polynesian.. and not saying we can ALL do it, but we are notoriously good at being able to harmonize on the fly with whomever, wherever so I'm saying that some natural instinct and talent is also at play here.. 😉😋

I look at it as evolving the song rather than trying to compete with the original artist/artists. Thats all it is! No competition unless original’s wanna make it one!🤷🏼‍♂️

It's natural for maori to harmonize. From a young age we would work on harmonies😂 kapa haka is full of it .and you may not know the person singing but everyone will join in and beautiful harmonies can be heard .if someone starts a maori song in a crowd members of the public will join in till everyone that knows the song and actions are singing. Very moving when that happens.proud to be maori.
