Vincent, a character so cool cloud cosplays him in kingdom Hearts 1

I took Vincent as the warning of what Cloud could become if he didn't forgive himself.

His theme also adds to the appearance as it has a repetitive tone with a shifting underlying tune that eventually opens to the louder and more pointed notes. A, "theres more to this calm person than meets the eye," type of deal.

Another iconic role for Matt Mercer. Vincent is cool, in all his edgy glory.

I do like how when they made Cloud broodier in Kingdom Hearts, they gave him Vincent’s cloak and claw bracer to really blend the two.

2 things I really like about Vincent here : 1 - The belts in his design are actually functional (contrary to Nomura design tradition) here as they seemingly help tighten up the clothes to his body since he's so lanky and gaunt from not taking care of himself for so many years locked in the manor. 2 - Despite being kinda flanderized as an edgelord, he's my favourite type of edgelord because he keeps to himself and never really broods annoying everyone else, in fact , the people of the og team he gets to interact with in Dirge of Cerberus are actually the more light-hearted ones : Reeve , Yuffie and Cid.

I still like the original name of his theme: To End my Nightmare. I remember when I first went looking for the song and got the name, and thought how cool it added to his character. He was definitely dark and brooding, and knowing he was a tormented character made him fascinating to follow his story

I played it at 14. I absolutely both thought Vincent was the coolest *and* had a crush on him. Hence my making a Vincent Valentine theme in Windows XP, that I often mention.

Love Vincent's OG design, really all of the original FF7 art is peak.

Well, he is an optional character. His connection to the story is still pretty important. With the fact he was the bodyguard for a female scientist that turns out to be Sepheroth’s biological mother. (Or at least the woman that carried him for nine months) And it is through finding her spirit where she admits that she had died of grief, having never been allowed to hold her child. Vincent is given his ultimate limit break which allows him to become Chaos. (which for any Final Fantasy veteran is a pretty big deal.)

Totally agree. His hair is way too fluffy and has too much volume in Rebirth, it should be greasier, gnarlier, he spent thirty years in a dank basement without seeing the sun or washing his hair, he shouldn’t be so pretty, that’s for Cloud and Zack and Sephiroth and Reno to be. I liked how they stylized his hair much better in Dirge of Cerberus, all ratty and tangled, even if I don’t have much else positive to say about that game.

I think the "clean" edgy design is what he should evolve *into,* like once he makes peace with the fact hes a monster, but that doesn't make him a monster, his head clears up and he comes back with an "updated" design that's just him having cleaned up his outfit a bit.

The messier design may be more interesting, but the cleaner design sells more merch so that's gonna win in the shareholders' eyes

Vincent, to me, is like the epitome of “side character who would be the main protagonist of a completely different story” if that makes any sense. And Dirge of Cerberus is honestly kind of a testament to that.

The fact that Vincent got his own spin off game, a shockingly good one at that, that used his original design almost exactly sans a few enhancements for the better graphical fidelity is a testimony to how striking he is both conceptually and in appearance

Vincent is definitely my favorite of the nine main characters in this game, and most of it is because of his backstory and how he’s surprisingly involved with the plot. Also his design is peak.

Fun fact about Vincent: when Final Fantasy 7 was still in development, they originally considered having him wield a scythe as his main weapon before they ultimately decided to give him a gun instead. There even exists a piece of old concept art for him that proves this.

There’s a spin off game he got in the early 2000’s that plays a lot with this. Remember it being a good time.

i never played ff7 growing up but i kinda grew up and realized that characters like shadow and vincent are just unabashedly cool, design and character wise, no matter what people say also interesting how they both got their own games being mission based third person shooters with a focus on guns

The "angry monster juice" is chaos, one's half of the plants "omega" protocol. Omega, according to DoC (the shooter) is the last way to survival for the lifestream, wen omega is activated, chaos will run wild and kill EVERYTHING and send it back to the lifestream so omega can suck it all up and leave the planet and look for a new one. Basically a metal version of nova's arc I hope I remember it right, played the game like 20 years ago ish but only one time, my sister broke my game disc after. (I'm german so english is quite new to me, had to learn it on my own so I'm sory)

I never got him in my first playthrough. Turns out he was in the basement or something? Yea, that place got blown up and I never saw him.

As a ten year old, I always had him in my party even though I thought he sucked (in terms of damage, he as a character was and still is so cool and hot) but it wasn't until I was an adult that I realized he's supposed to be used as a magic character. So now I just have him take over Aerith's build after she leaves the party and take a little time to get his kill count up for his ultimate weapon whenever I replay.

I remember when I got the first gun on the inventory I was 100% sure Rufus would become a playable character. Then we got Vincent, which was cool and all, but...

Ive never heard this take in my life. Weird to be obsessed with his buckle being undone. Never even noticed it.

I always took Vincent for the "Sasuke/Vegeta/Zoro" to Clod's "Goku/Naruto/Luffy" in how they are designed and written to have equally, just as many similarities, as they have opposites: Both worked for Shinra (SOLDIER/Turks), got betrayed and nearly died, both got experimented by Hojo (Jenova Cells/Chaos Gene), both are personally connected to Sephiroth, both lost a love interest, who also happened to be strongly related to Sephiroth. And then one of them uses a sword, the other a gun. One of them doesn't actually know, who he is, but maintains his "shape"/persona, while the other _knows_ who he is, but tends to turn into something else. One's superpowers _enhance_ ,what they already are, while the other's superpowers, change what they've been. And lastly their colour palettes contrast each other: One has _bright_ , _short_ and _spiky_ hair, _blue/green_ eyes, _grey_ armour and mainly blue clothes, while the other has _dark_ , _long_ and _smooth_ hair, _red_ eyes, _gold_ armour and mainly _red_ clothing. Compared to Sephiroth's _white_ , _long_ and _smooth_ hair, _green_ eyes, _silver_ armour and mainly _black_ clothing and the connection between the three becomes present even in their appearence.

I do think... the messy, yet also sepiroth-esque bangs, is a needed part. The claw is a needed part, and the mess coat and bandana as a needed part. Otherwise... I do like the new boots they gave him to not make his claw arm totally out of place, albeit the cloak is a statement. If they kept his pants a little baggy too, it'd look okay. I do find the sleekness to be in the way of his journey though.

Messiness, yes, but let's not forget about the beasties for all the monster*ahem*lovers. 👀

I respect the courage of Square Enix of including, not one, but two optional/secret party members. You don't see that too much nowadays. Games are so much more high-budget that god forbid you miss a single follicle of content. It makes secrets that try to hide themselves all the more special. (Also why Eri is my favorite party member in Yakuza Like a Dragon XD)

It'd be a nightmare going to the toilet if you were wearing an outfit designed by Nomura, it's difficult enough with 1 belt at times but often times these characters havr many more belts than that, in the original art Vincent has 2, in Remake he has 3. And then there's Lulu.

He's sort of another side of Sephiroth, but instead of just trying to destroy the world, he is struggling to understand himself and who he is.

Despite the aged look of Nomura’s designs they aged like fine wine in my opinion
