Highlights of the relentless former 2 weight world champion. Vinny Paz!
TikTok: / hanzagod_1
Vinny Pazienza - Is an American former professional boxer who held world titles at lightweight and light middleweight. The 2016 film Bleed for This is based on his comeback from a spinal injury. In 2022, he was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame. His first world title fight came on June 7, 1987, in Providence, Rhode Island, where he outpointed Greg Haugen over 15 rounds to become the IBF world lightweight champion. He then defeated the WBA world jr. middleweight champion Gilbert Delé with a 12th-round TKO in Providence, becoming the second fighter in boxing history to win both the lightweight and junior middleweight world championships.

2 weight champion! Vinny Paz was an aggressive pressure fighter who had a number of great fights in the late 80's and 90's. His rivalries with Greg Haugen and Dana Rosenblatt are personal favorites of mine and although he wasn't the absolute best of his time he always put on a great show and battled it out with everyone. This guy is one of the greats Make no mistake if he was two inches taller with the slightest amount more range he would have been undisputed. If you want to set up taller attacking fighters this cats footwork is the fucking blueprint. His resume reads like a whos who and no one was stupid enough to brawl with him.

Paz and I are from the same state, Rhode Island, everyone knows everyone the state is so small, lol. Had the opportunity to spar with him when I was young and he was training with Chubby Gomes, the 1959 Jr. Lightweight champion of the world, and he was sooooooo hard to hit!!! The man never stood still!!! Ever!!!! His energy was next level and speed and combination punching was very underrated. Also the “drama” and personal intensity he brought to fight would throw fighters off their game. And that wasn’t an act with him! This man loved to scrap and if you touched him in the ring he would walk through bullet fire to hit you back! Lol. I’m serious. This man was a legit fighter. It wasn’t a boxing match with Vinny…he was there to fight. Win, lose or draw he was going to give you a fight!

Vinny started his bro career in 1983 so lets say he was training with chubby Gomez, Chubby won a world title a quarter century before that. Vinny was training with the Duvas from 1983 on and then Kevin Rooney. Maybe you are referring to before he went pro.

This is gonna sound crazy but I always said that Paz would have been a great fight for JCC Sr. I’m not saying he would have won but his style would have made Chavez confused for a bit. He cut relatively easy so I think Chavez would have stopped him inside the distance but it would have been a fun fight to watch!

I truly believe he would defeat any super middleweight fighter of the current era, his style, his lack of respect for the opponent, his aggressive aura, his hand speed, his power, and his underrated defensive instincts converted him into a very dangerous fighter to deal with 💯🦾 The one and only “Pazmanian Devil” 😈💪🏻🇺🇸🇮🇹🔥

In his day, to me Vinny in my book was one of the best boxers to ever put in a pair of gloves. He didn't rope a dope or any of that bs hoping his opponent would get tired of punching and then capitalizing on this. He was a fighter and he was fearless and he would bring it to you. He was a fighter a legend in his time. Wasn't no shame in his game. It wasn't about the money but about the fighting. When you'd step in the ring with Vinnie whether you'd win or lose, you knew that you'd been in a fight and you'd thank the Good Lord that it was over.

Probably the most intentionally dirty fighter of his era. He would routinely punch after the bell, hit his opponents while down, low blow, elbow ,headbutt, aim for the back of the head. He'd do this alot when he was losing, but also even when he had a guy outclassed. It often times overshadowed his underrated footwork and punch technique. Made him hard to watch and hard to root for.

@@Duel1982 pretty dirty nonetheless, punching after the bell, lowblows, headbutts, elbows you name it. Probably a strategy of intimidation, like "if you are schooling me, I'm gonna do ANYTHING to win, so don't make me angry"

Paz had a great LEAN as he fought, a style common with Jersey fighters (though he is from R.I.). He is almost always lower than his opponents at the point of attack. Having his weight and shoulders forward and low makes is tough to hurt someone as they approach while allowing a "hooker" like Paz squat and thrust behind every punch he threw.

Awesome, seems like a vinny paz highlight should have came sooner. Was just looking and seen it appears to be your first one. what really sucks is going back trying to watch some older fights and finding decent quality recordings, I imagine you definitely know about it making highlights. maybe im just to accustomed to todays resolution, but iv been trying to catch up on alot of older fights after seeing so many disappointments like fury nguanno or usky dubois an the biggest problem is the recording quality on alot of them. was just watching jt vs samual peters 1 feeling like older fat seemingly out of shape toney in that fight would give alot of todays heavyweights fits 😂.

Haha it can be an issue occasionally but actually the quality of footage in a lot of cases is very good. There are some very good restoration channels out there right now I'd highly recommend checking out sweetfights, Vintage Boxing and SmoothLegends. All of these great fights are in fantastic quality so hope you enjoy! (there are others too just thought I'd give you a general idea of where to look)
