Sometimes you get lucky, other times you hit the jackpot! For me, on this day, it was the latter. What a day! A local guy was looking to get rid of a saw. I ran up to grab it but instead of coming home with one saw, I came home with two! The saw that was "thrown in", blew me away. The saw is a Homelite Super XL 922, an old school muscle saw. From what I've seen, this saw can still hold it's own today and probably put some new saws to shame. The saw I originally ran up to get is a Homelite Super EZ Automatic, a great saw in its own right. To say this was a great day for me would be an understatement. I had a smile on my face the whole way home.
I hope you enjoy the overview of these two saws. I plan on getting them running and in the wood soon. Thanks for watching!
If you learned something or were possibly entertained, please consider subscribing, sharing the video, or maybe giving me a like. It all helps, and I sure would appreciate it!

That 922's a beauty brother! I would have tried hard to contain my enthusiasm on that one too!! Good job man! I love old Homies and have a bunch of them!

Thank you, happy to have it! It definitely got that little boy on Christmas morning feeling going inside me when he pulled it out, ha ha. Homelite built some great old saws. It sounds like you've been bitten by the bug. How many saws do you have? Favorite?

@@EightWheelsRollin yeah I got bit quite awhile back. I must have around 20 saws at the moment. The majority are Homelites. I think the XL12's are my favorite saws. Especially the ones with the stack style muffler. They just sound so friggin' cool. My favorite Stihl saws are the 461's and the 661.

Ha ha, yep, you've been bit. You have good taste in saws. The XL-12 is one of my favorites as well, just a solid saw. The saws with the stack muffler sound sooo good. I've never ran a 461 or 661, but I've heard really good things about both saws.

Your Super EZ Auto W model (western), is a pre 1977. after around 1978 the air filter covers and recoil covers were plastic. I've never bought a saw in person except for one Stihl 041 , I've bought well over 100 saws online

A W model, I didn't know that but it makes sense with the full wrap and aggressive dog. I prefer their metal air filter covers. They held up much better than the plastic covers did over the years. Ha, I've never bought a saw online. I get all my saws off of Craigslist or by word of mouth.

I really like the Homelite 900 series saws! Your 923 and 925 are pretty much the same saw, except for the oiler. The Super EZ is no slouch either.

Sweet score on that Super EZ man! You have what is commonly known as a Super EZ West Coast Edition with the full wrap handlebar as well as the forward facing exhaust configuration. In theory, any potential spark coming out of the exhaust will be directed in front of the operator so that he/she will see would see a possible fire ignite in front of them allowing them to put it out in time. I've owned a couple of those west coast EZs and they're great saws. Great compression on a little saw that cuts like a big boy!

Thanks! I had no idea this was a West Coast Edition saw until you and another viewer mentioned it. I was unaware of the the forward facing exhaust, but it does makes sense when you think about who was using it. You are the second person to tell me this saw punches above it weight. I need to go through this saw and get it into the wood! Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

@@EightWheelsRollin If you ever need Homelite parts or want to learn how to do some of the repairs on them check out Leon's Chainsaw Parts and Repair channel if you haven't already. He's an expert on everything Homelite and an all around great guy. I've sent him a few saws over the years to be worked on and have never been disappointed. Also learned how to do a lot of the repairs as well.

I've watched a few of his videos. You're right, he knows his stuff. I'm working on a Homelite 360 right now and watched his tear down video on the saw. He did a great job. He seems like a real stand-up guy on video, so it doesn't surprise me that you've had a good experience with him. Chainsaw guys, they're a pretty solid group I think.

Your video just popped up when I turned on the TV. Nice find on the saws. The EZ with the full wrap bar is quite unique. I had one some time ago and was talking about it in a video, and was contacted by a died in the wool Homelite collector. His channel is( Smitty's chainsaws and firewood), and he had been searching for one of the full wrap EZ saws for quite some time. He says they are quite rare. I did a trade with him. My buddy, Mr. C has since donated one to the channel, so now I have one again. I had used my first one quite a bit and found that they are great little cutters. I have several videos showing it in operation. One of the unique features is that they have an automatic compression release activated by the choke rod, and the extended heat shield on the muffler is another unique feature. Big Homelites were not popular in my area, so I have never found one. The bigger Homelites I do have are the very old styles. Nice find and nice video !

Thanks! I do remember seeing you run that saw in one of your videos. You had dropped a tree and done some limbing if memory serves. When I saw the full wrap on the saw I picked up, I remembered you stating in you video that it was not very common. The Homelite muscle saws of the 70's and 80's are few and far between in the Pacific Northwest. I was blown away when he brought it out. I've seen you talk about many old Homelites on your channel, I enjoy those videos. I thought you might have done some trading with Smitty as I saw an EZ with a full wrap on his channel. I'm glad you were able to pick up another EZ. I had no idea they had an automatic compression release activated by the choke rod? If you mentioned it in your video, I totally forgot. The extended heat shield is a nice feature. Thanks for dropping by!

The compression release is actually tied in with the throttle lock, not the choke. And your hot rod saw is really the SEZ, pound for pound. I've had several, and sold a few, but always keep a couple on hand. I run a 21" bar on one.

I keep learning more and more about this saw, thanks! So you've been running a 21" bar on the Super EZ with no issues, good to know. Like you said, a hot rod of a saw!

Nice score… is that 922 your biggest saw? Get that thing going. You will like it. I had a 925 I think I have a old picture somewhere cutting with a 36 inch bar on it.

Thanks! It's my biggest "modern" falling saw. I have my McCulloch 250 at 80cc's, but it's a totally different saw. I'm pretty pumped about this saw. So you ran a 36" bar on your 925, good to know. I figured it could pull a big bar. The 922 and 925 are pretty much the same saw from what I can tell.

@@EightWheelsRollin I forgot about your really nice 250 I can’t remember Who ended up with my 925 I think it was one of the 45 homelites I traded four a 2002 ZR 600 Arctic cat snowmobile. I felt guilty so I also gave him my Stihl 090

I also have one of those Homelite super easy chainsaws the only problem with mine is the handle is broken and I can't find anybody else that would assist me in fixing that handle I also have a David Bradley 70cc chainsaw that I kind of need a lot of help with trying to put it back together I tried to change all the bolts back cuz they were mismatched

You have a couple of great saws! Is it your top handle or rear handle that's broken? Either way, you should be able to find one on ebay. Other than it being a great saw, I don't know much about the David Bradley.
