Big shout out to Todd from Florida for sending me this MINT KICKER X100 competition amplifier to check out and test for you guys. This was KICKER's first competition style amp (along with X50) back in 1995. Rated to deliver a measly 50 watts per channel at 4 ohms but loaded down up to 800W at 1 ohm mono. Back in the days when "cheating" gave you an edge in the competition classes which were based on 4 ohm power output.

I was an installer on the Automania Astro Van that you mention in this video. That van was the first Pro Class vehicle to win at the IASCA finals with ALL Kicker amps and speakers. What a great blast from the past. Thank you for what you do on your channel and website. It is awesome to relive what I consider the best era of car stereo.

I haven’t seen one of these since I was in high school 2004. My friend bought a 1992 bmw 5 series. It had this amp hooked to two kicker 15’s (one was blown) it also had 3 way mtb quart speakers with giant crossovers. He was showing it to me and said; “get this sh** out of my car and you can have it all.”. Such a great memory

I still have mine, in fact just got it back from Ray at TIPS who recapped it since I am doing an old school build with it. I've had mine since brand new, the shop I worked for was given these and the X50's for testing in street use before being released.

People would tell me that my Kicker Amps and Subs were overpriced. Not to me, they were the real deal back then and they still are today. Kicker will never let you down. Then have to spend more money to find out. One time and done. A real company, not one that's trying to take advantage of customers. Same with Rockford Fosgate. Unlike other companies that are using similar names to try to trick people. Rockward for instance.

Sweet. I had this in my 1992 bronco back in 1995 running three JL 6 inch subwoofers. I still have the crossover module and a few of the chips to change the crossover. I remember that kicker station wagon being at columbus car audio in Dublin Ohio a couple times with the 18s in it. What a great time for car audio!

That is a NICE piece! Love the direct mounting to the substantial heatsink. Clean, clean, clean wiring and through hole soldering. I see a lot of high quality, long lasting components. Worth every penny.

Still have one. Recaped a few years ago. In the early 2000. i played with 2 cvr 15 dvc 2 on it. Still worked with 0,5 ohms bridged!

I have a ton of photos from IASCA, USAC, and db Drag events from the mid '90's if you ever want me to scan and send 'em your way. Some photos of show cars from the '96 CES Show's mobile electronics portion, as well. Alpine had the most unbelievable demo cars.

Mid-90s was the peak for car audio. High quality installs, SPL that still looked nice, not like the crap we have today where it looks like a Home Depot exploded inside of a car and all it does is SPL.

I had to use physics because I didn't have a bunch of money in high school or even after. But I set a record still not beat today and with 500w. It took months of phone calls between MTX, my music teacher and my science teacher to build the ultimate system. I truly want to try and duplicate it with current technology and see

I just bought a set of 3-Kicker X amplifiers off eBay. I wonder if the one you tested may have been one I bought? Not sure if it was yours or not but it was packaged with the same JP box Saran wrap and bubble wrap. I bought 2-X100’s and an X50 mint condition. I always remembered these amps in high school and was fortunate to run across them when I did. I had to have them because I’ll never find them in this condition again. Thanks for the videos and results.

I think the last one I saw you did for that era was the X50 which if I remember you had both XS series 50 and the 100. Love the power of these amps produce, but they are dirty when it comes to efficiency and the power they need

Those modules were gimmicky way for Kicker and dealers to get extra $$. I had a ZR120 and ZR240 that used the same modules and I talked the dealer i to giving me the modules for free. I loved those ZR amps. Last of the made in USA Kicker amps.

I had a black autoTek mean machine 100×100 eating this amp up. Both cheater amps. At 1ohm on 4 10 inch cvr kickers. If you get that amp. You'll be impressed.

In 1997 I had a ranger and I had five of the Phoenix Gold ZX series amps and then I had two of their four-channel and three of their two channel that I had running to 3 JL 12 w6 subs we built it for sound it just happened to hit like a freight train. I hope maybe you can come across those older white Phoenix Gold ZX series amps and see what they do. They were definitely a cheater amp
