Why didnt we ever see a cornflower blue model for consumers? Seems like that was only his and didnt have an acs rotor. I love the cornflower blue with the black mags and white tires but they didnt offer that color option.

Those amps never really put out impressive power but always had beautiful boards. The yellow caps on this one looked a little swollen.

I'm doing a build with a 1001 dx and a 604x on a JL 13w3-2 with 2 pairs of old school 6.5 JL xr components with audio control eqx and epicenter. Yeah I know it's cheating but sounds good! The amps are complicated especially the 604x. It's been 20 years since I've had them hooked up. Looking forward to completing it. Thanks for the video. As always you learn something.

You could still buy those blues subs and the iso kit brand new in up untill fairly recently untill LP killed the blues name and branded everything as LP, now they still sell same thing they juat dont have the blues name on it, so those may be newer than 97...also acording to LPs msrp page the ISO 10 kit costs $930 in 2024...so they got a little cheaper.

I've always been curious: Is there an audio "dead zone" at the driver's seat in these systems? I remember constantly seeing drivers on their cell phone while their car is pumping out so much bass that buildings next to the road were crumbling.

Hah, I like that ELITE, mostly for its Cheapo but Japanese made looks. Since it says "(2) Use 5A fuse only." I think everyone here knows how close to 125W + 125W on the front of the box it'll get. The back covers more truthful number of 20W + 20W even seems unlikely.

The Acoustic Bass Pump is an interesting piece! The design looks like they were shooting for a front air mass loaded, quasi bandpass, infinite baffle install for vehicles with a trunk/rear window deck. If designed correctly, it would lower Fs by air mass loading the driver. Another plus is it could use (cheaper) drivers with rather high'ish QTS. The wedge's net internal volume is too small for a bandpass alignment, but may have reduced (filtered) higher order harmonics? An evolutionary (non subwoofer) progression of this would be the Danley Unity/Synergy horn for pro-audio applications.

My first ever subs was a pair of red surround Thump Pro 10" subs (they had a slightly bigger magnet than the blue surround ones)- in a box I made from 3/4" chipboard, sealed with 2 tubes of silicone sealant, and wired with way overkill 8 guage as speaker wiring. As I later got up to 1000w plus, we used 2/0 welding cable to the amplifiers, and 4 guage for each individual subwoofer I ran them off of a Teac 100 + 100 amplifier I bought from sears in a blister pack. I'd love to see any Teac amps you run across. I have never found any info on them anywhere. I had a 40w+40w for my door speakers... they were Craig 6.5" 2 ways that came with the Craig AM FM Cassette radio that I got for Christmas. In my 1973 Buick Apollo, and then moved to my 1981 Pontiac Sunbird. Lol. I was 16 and on a budget, and at my parents' whim on what I was driving. The later cars were all mine. 89 CRX (Pioneer 12" IMPP subs, 400 watt Soundstream Amplifier), 95 240SX (actually placed 2nd in my class (100-500w) at an IASCA SPL event with a Soundstream Reference 1000 (not an "s", it was a early one before the caps in the plastic window), running 3 JL Audio 12w6 Subs in a custom box that had to be installed and sealed in 5 pieces, and could not be removed from the trunk without destroying it. 😊 lots of work went into that one.

That iso sub thing reminds me of another similar thing I seen in the 90's. I don't remember who made it but it was two subs face to face in a pyramid shaped box or something like that, definitely not Pyramid brand though. Very interesting to say the least. It was a better known brand I just cannot for the life of me remember who it was. I don't think it was hooked up for demo either because I wanted to hear it.
