Just a little tip that I use. I never cut any cables. I unbolt them from gears and brakes and put them back through their old housings. When it is time to put new cables and housings, you have them all ready to measure and cut to length..

I'm happy I found this video. Great rebuild. I just picked up the exact same year ('93) 830 in a 18" frame. Trying to build it up with some upgraded components but keep it stock looking. Awesome to see others enjoy bringing these old bicycles back to life.

I have the same exact bike and still my only bike for the last 28 years. Just rode 24 miles last weekend. I take it mountain bike riding, trails greenways it's pretty much indestructible. She's in better shape than the one you brought back to life but could use that type TLC. Where are you located?

I rebuild bikes also as a hobby/ second income at this one is a tough one.. I would not have invested the time like this unless it is a Trek, Specialized, or Cannondale... I would like to know how you restored the wheels. They looked very rusted. Are they new replacements?
