This was my first VCR, labeled Blaupunkt RTV 100 and I was very happy with it. I payed 1898 Deutsche Mark in 1979.

This is a superb repair video !!! I'm impressed with the recording quality of the device which is way better than from my 90's JVC recorder...

Please note that the Europeans did NOT had to wait 1,5 year to get a VCR. Because Philips had their own domestic VCR system available since 1972. So it were the Japanese and Americans that had to wait.

I'm well aware of that, and that wasn't supposed to be the point - they had to wait 1.5 years for PAL *VHS* machines :)

Excellent fault-finding on this old beast of a machine! A funny thing happened at 34:23 as the clock rolled-over, it was the exact same time I was watching (albeit 14.06) ..spooky! :0

This was my parents' first VCR, bought by the summer or spring of 1979. The Middle East version was National branded and came in both silver and the darker gray chassis. Also, right next to the tracking dial, there was an NTSC switch. It was still working well into 1995 until we left the region. Good times. EDIT: Here it is: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jbCCncaS09WXlXk.html

I've seen capacitors less than a decade old that look like that... I wonder if the world will ever make a better one in this style.

Great work. It's inspiring me to get my NV8610 out and try some more restoration work. I did some work on it a few years ago and got it from not working at all through playing but with a capstan servo fault and poor sound to fixing the servo fault but still with poor sound. There's also a problem with the video in record and e-e mode in that it's very noisy. I don't know how far I will be able to get with it though because I think the capstan motor is a bit weak as well.

Hi. What a great image results you have obtained. There is no noise and the image has no grain. Where do i have to touch to get something like this? I ask because I would like my panasonic to look like this.

Did they have camcorders available in the PAL maket for recording footage? Or was the unit only ment for recording tv output?

Great job! I have an NV-8600 too. You can actually enable still frame on this machine by shorting the emitter and base of transistor Q312. It won't look very good but it's OK to do this mod for a bit of fun... :)

I'm afraid to ask... What is the yellow MOIST light at 3:03 ?
@crashbandicoot4everr
@crashbandicoot4everr 2 жыл бұрын
@@f.k.b.16 It lights up when there's moisture inside the machine. These old machines have a dew sensor near the head drum. When that sensor activates, the DEW or MOIST indicator will light up and none of the transport functions will work until the light is extinguished.

I recently got a nv-8061 top loader. Same design as this one but more basic than this one. My issue is that it doesn't play tapes. The little motors that spin the spools seem to work when i push play except the right one. It doesn't move, but it does work and move when i fast forward and rewind. Any idea what it could be? Its in near mint condition. Got the box and everything.
@Oerg866
@Oerg866 Жыл бұрын
Slipping belt or idler wheel probably, does the tape get pulled *off* the left spool?
@crashbandicoot4everr
@crashbandicoot4everr Жыл бұрын
The tape spools are driven by the capstan motor via belts and idlers. No separate motors are used for the spools. There is a belt and a clutch pulley with their only job of driving the take-up spool in low torque for play/record. For fast forward and rewind there are two different idler pulleys driven by the main large reel belt.
