I'm taking YOU into the stores shopping for vinyl records WITH ME. You'll be there AS I FIND COOL RECORDS. I'll show you how I do it. How to find places to find vintage vinyl records. I'll show you what to look for. How to thrift for records like a pro. How to find cool used vinyl records for a fraction of the price. Much cheaper than Discogs. You'll be there as i find a bunch of great vinyl records at an Antique Mall. Secondhand stores can be a great place to find records for much cheaper than online.

I simply find that the lower your expectations are in 2022, the more you will enjoy what Tuco is doing through these videos. The game isn’t to think The Beatles and Pink Floyd are just around the corner, because you’ll just get angry about it all. But those “hidden gems” that no one seems to want to know about, or barely remembers? If you can truly appreciate those peeks into the past with a healthy dose of curiosity, you can have fun with this. And that’s what Tuco does.

Yep! I don't go looking for something specific...because you ain't gonna find it! I just go with an open mind, and just look at the selection that the "vinyl gods" have laid out for me. I'm always looking for "new" things to listen to. There's a lot to be had at thrift stores...and sometimes it's even Beatles and Pink Floyd!

You know what's really funny!!!!? I realized when editing this video that, in a very recent video i was at the same thrift store...the records were all laying flat...i stood them up, and i even said "I think I'm actually putting these upside down!"...so I was probably the person that i was mad at!!! 🤣😂🤣😂 I'd thought about putting a clip of it in this video, but i forgot! One of the thrift stores in my town is like Central City -- this place is closed Sunday/Monday, on Monday they restock with the previous week's donations, and people are lined up for 11 AM Tuesday morning. I've done a bit better there since I clued into this, but now that I'm teaching again I can't get there until late Tuesday afternoon. I've got some more thrifting footage that will be going up in a few weeks, but I can't compete with U.F.O.'s 👽🛸

I first learned of this phenomenon in Beatrice Nebraska with a thrift store that is only open Thur-Sat...they stock the store Mon-Wed...Thursday morning there's a line and the selection (and prices) are great...but after the first half hour, everything good is gone.

1:08:05 I remember seeing 'How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying' on the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) channel or some vintage movie channel and when I saw Robert Morse, I recognized him from AMC's 'Mad Men' series as one of the elderly founders and Kenobi or Yoda-like philosophers for that ad agency offering sage advice. Ironically too, when his character died in the 'Mad Men' series (SPOILERS), he appeared as a ghost to Don Draper and left with a musical number reminiscent of 'How To Succeed..." so that was a funny little nod to his previous role. :)

Some great finds. I love Halo label. They are all so brittle, it’s a miracle any of them survived to the present. 36:25 That's cool to find those JBL sampler records; one classical and one contemporary (I have the contemporary sampler album). That classical record has a lot of Stravinsky that I know you like, Tuco, and 'Carmina Burana' by Carl Orff is also great. Wow, all those guitars, amps, etc etc pawned off because the owners most likely got addicted to heroin, crack, meth, or whatever and needed a fix - I've seen that happen many times before. Shattered dreams, especially for a budding musician... The LPs that you had to wade through this time were brutal but you did get that one obscure local Omaha LP, the Mountain LP, Traffic LP, that obscure LP on Eno's label, and the Ex-Turtles/Mothers duo that made it all worthwhile. Will you ever play that classical comp LP or that Morse Code LP though? Maybe once? If so, I got a "Learn How To Type" LP for you! lol! The trip was still fun! See you next voyage!
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter 2 жыл бұрын
The classical comp, I'll definitely play the Stravinsky song that i didn't already have.
