My husky cross does this everyday, It's a royal piss off lol (I usually put him in without a collar though), I get home and hes on the couch like "Dad Look What I Can Do"

My Malinois used to get out of that type crate without damaging it at all, so I did several zip ties, he chewed through them and got out, so I bought a very expensive high anxiety crate with double locks, he busted both locks, I ended up chaining the high anxiety crate shut with two heavy chains top and bottom, he can squeeze out of a crack that would challenge a Chihuahua.

Oh that's how he gets out,love that dog.

Dogs can be fine in kennels. However, it helps if they have something to lay on, a toy to occupy with, and have been kennel trained correctly.

WOW, some people on this thread have issues. I get what you're saying about the video, but what many of you are saying is that crating an animal while you are away is cruel and if you crate that means you have no time for them, which is entirely untrue!! Your companion animal is NOT allowed to go with you everywhere you go. Sure, if they are good about being in a car alone, you can take them with you wherever you go, but not when it's too hot and not when it's too cold. Dogs are going to HAVE to be left home alone sometimes. If several of your theories were correct, dogs should only be allowed to be housed with the homebound, they should never be alone, as it's cruel. Just because your dog needs to be home alone sometimes doesn't mean that you don't have time for your dog!! Some dogs CANNOT be left alone uncrated. We cleared out an entire room for our dog because she didn't like the crate...she broke down the closet door, tore apart the clothes inside, chewed the cord off the vacuum cleaner, chewed the moulding around the entry door and chewed up the door knob. With are working with a trainer on separation anxiety issues; however, our vet thinks we might be at the point of having to medicate her. We tried giving her the run of the house with plenty of toys to play with and things to keep her stimulated and she gets into everything anyway. Crating is safe and humane. Now, I wouldn't have put this dog in the same setup again and risked injury just to film a video for the internet, but I understand what these pet parents are dealing with. Just because a dog has to be crated for a short time every day doesn't mean it is being neglected or abused!!

Just saw this and was thinking the same, some people make no sense to be honest. If the dog is doing this and some dogs develop separation anxiety from their owners. Even people who just leave the dogs in crate for few hours when at work or out. Which can then lead to them breaking there crates getting out and destroying your house and what not. Some dogs get left alone in the house and they go and destroy the house in any way. You put the animal in the crate to try and minimize them doing damage to your home or eating something that can get them killed or chewing on something that can get them injured. Some dogs do this even when there given attention and walked and taken care of its just the dog misbehaving. When this happens you need to make sure there getting exercise and you need to train them and get them a better crate but not these ones if they are breaking the crates you need the Impact ones they seem to hold better and teach the dog that getting out will not happen. It not a bad thing humans leave babies in cribs when there not attended don't we? Same logic if you can not watch the animal and the animal is not mature or can not behave you put them in crate so they do not cause any harm to themselves or your belongings. People act like if the video showed the dog getting whipped or abused like you make no sense..

I have to put my German shepherd in a cage due to separation anxiety but he has 2 pillows and a warm blanket. and he doesn't go in with a collar on either. they are lucky that dog didn't get it's collar stuck!!

Overall smart dog. For those whining unless you plan on doing something about it dont even bother whining. But yea they could use a better cage one bigger for him. As for the mess it honestly matters because unless he trained not to chew things he might try. I think it would be better if the dog was in charge of that household instead of humans.

I was also amazed at my dog's genius when he tried to escape a room by chewing through my basement door. So blessed to have an intellectual in my presence, still have to replace the door though...
