Today I have been given a guided tour of Tinker’s Bubble. This woodland community lives off grid managing 26 Acres of woodland. Using no fossil fuels this off grid community runs a steam engine to power their sawmill, and produces their own timber for construction as well as their own apple press for juice and cider making.

I want to visit!! I’m so interested in off grid communities! Although they could do with building wooden walkways to get off the freezing wet mud in places. As exposure to rising damp isn’t good for the body, joints and lungs. Raised home dwellings too. I wonder if they have a metalworks shed too!?

There are several sheds which are like utility spaces so I’m sure they have the capabilities to do metalwork.

So apart from appealing to modern commerce to fund their lifestyle they are no part of the greedy system. I genuinely applaud the efforts and loved the video, perhaps a few more words from Alex would be good. I will not however give any money as it seems to go against the whole ethos of the community. A KZfaq channel of their own could bring in the required funds.

Low Impact Dwellings? - we do have words and some more individualised and specific to the materials used, and the shapes and designs. We have many words. Re member 😉

Dear Carl, Was listening to the Pod Cast on this one and had to watch the vid. Quites something really. It's a bit hard to fathom what that would really be like but it's a bucket list item for sure. Thanks for bringing us a long and now that it's 11 months hence was curious if you heard if they raised that money? Hi Alex, they are still raising money for the steam engine. And here’s their website - www.tinkersbubble.org You can volunteer to stay there for a few weeks if you ever wanted a uk holiday!

Hi, I’m not sure what you are referring to, I didn’t cut anything apart from dead air and lots of “um”s really. Pretty sure everything we discussed is in the video.
