Following on our La Chaux-de-Fonds visit, we continued with the visit of Ulysse Nardin and went through their rather modern and optimised production line.
Before being bought a few years ago by French mega luxury group Kering, this brand used to belong to Swiss german shareholders and without going too much down the cliché route, one can say that the level of organisation found there definitely reflects more this part of Switzerland!!
But joke aside, one has to acknowledge that Ulysse Nardin have been very innovative over the last 15 years or so with the introduction of pretty radical technologies, for instance the use of silicon on many strategic components of their timepieces.
Enjoy and all the very best!

Tks for taking us off the beaten path! UN and GP are certainly among those brands that have consistently released beautiful and innovative watches over the last couple of years.

The Ulysse Anchor uses the principle of compliant mechanisms - where things that usually require multi-part pivots and bearings are replaced by a complex, monolithic and elastic component that does the job - much like the 5650 and the Zenith Defy lab.

Very nice and quite informative video. It is obvious that Ulysse Nardin really has "Know How" ! I hope there are enough customers who appreciate it !

Nice episode Marc. Yes UN has been definitively evolving mainly sitting around the Freak line. BTW the Freak Vision just had a notorious participation at the GPHG 2018

Very interesting episode about Ulysse Nardin. I didn't know either that they use such advanced technology and to see the commitment of all the people involved in producing their timepieces is quite a statement I definitely noticed! Unfortunately (or luckily, depends on the view) the brand doesn't speak to me in terms of design. Nevertheless great episode and nice to watch!
