Along with discussing Dadaroma, there were many other thoughts I hadn't gotten to share since the beginning of the year. Happy to finally speak on everything that I did in this vid now that I have some extra time on my hands.

Ohhh someone talking about VK in English with actual depth and understanding, this is awesome! I agree I think MISC is the best work DIMLIM have ever released. I could tell listening to their older stuff that their singer simply didn't really know how to scream well or in a healthy manner (I heard a lot of inhale screams in their older stuff, that is horrible for your voice) so I think it's really good for them to be moving in this direction. But it is totally possible to train your voice to scream in a healthy way, it just seems like a lot of younger bands in the VK scene don't have access to that kind of training the way singers do in the US and Europe (that's a guess, but I might be wrong). Kyo from Dir en grey eventually worked this out through trial and error. I just heard him in LA in December and he sounded great throughout the whole set. I havent heard the recent Dadaroma release, but I do remember listening to them and thinking that their softer elements sounded a lot better than their heavy stuff, so wanting to move in that direction makes sense artistically. Playing heavy music well is hard, I get the feeling these VK labels and management want to push a lot of these band to do these big heavy/soft contrasts because that's become more or less standard nowadays, but the bands may or may not be versed in it.

Oh yes, I do agree it's possible to scream in a healthy way. Kyo rn is an excellent example. Now do you think for bigger bands such as DoG it's easier to access training for that sort of thing? I wonder if Ruki from The Gazette also trains too because there was a lot of screaming at the Gazette live in NY. Maybe the bigger the (foreign) band, the more chances to access these things? Dadaroma's release was decent, but what I saw in their recent album the most was the potential to reach more people. Especially with Yoshiatsu's voice, it's very distinct when singing lighter songs :) I didn't know that type of inhale screaming you mentioned was unhealthy. I'm happy knowing Sho's vocals will be okay for awhile. Glad you enjoyed MISC as much as I did. With DIMLIM I feel there was a natural incline in the beginning, like it was very clear there would still be a lot of musical talent and impressive composition left over even if the screaming was taken out. I still feel beginning vk artists feel a heavier sound suits the image of modern visual kei bands, especially using the biggest modern vk bands in the world as a blueprint, so they could possibly lean in that direction starting off for that reason. But more importantly, to your point, transitioning from heavier to lighter stuff can be difficult if a label is pushing it, especially if the band has only spent time constructing heavy songs. My ideal scenario would be for bands to be able to grow just doing whatever they want, but the rock scene world wide has really changed. Along with being very talented, I gotta remind myself some bands just came about in the right place at the right time.

D'espairsRay was the first time I experienced the gut-wrench feeling of one of my absolute favorite bands breaking up. Incredibly glad they've all had other things going for them though! -THEN on the opposite side of things, I first got into 9Goats Black Out when they were already disbanded, so when I found out about Sukekiyo I was like OOOOOOOOOOO Solid video! Couldn't have made the points you made better myself.

Oh man I agree! Rentrer en Soi and 9Goats Black Out are two of my favorite vk bands of all time, so it was amazing seeing some members transfer over to Sukekiyo :) For 9gbo I was there from the beginning so it was difficult seeing them breaking up. It's always worse when you think a band is doing so well. One of the most healing things can be seeing members move on to different projects and still continue doing what they love.

Hi, I'm a metalhead. I've been into metal for a decade. The first bands that got me into metal were visual Kei bands like, D'espairs Ray, and Dir En Grey. I love Deviloof, Dadaroma, and Disreign.. I didn't know that Dadaroma broke up... they were such a great band. You should check out (Nul.- Xstream) the vocalist of D'espairs Ray formed a new band Edit: Do you know Nocturnal Bloodlust, and Kiryu ? Btw I love music with mostly screaming because I have a lot of stress, and I need it to help relieve inner pain I have. So screaming is not a bad thing. If you understand how it can help someone then its not really funny..

Thanks for the comment! I'm aware of Hizumi's new project, Nul, but I'm still waiting for new stuff. Also I haven't listened to Nocturnal Bloodlust since they released Strike in Fact, but I have a good opinion of them. I think their sound stands out in vk (kinda hard to describe, but kinda more western influenced i think). As for Kiryu I see them everywhere, but I've never listened to them before. Just to clear things up, it's people listening to ONLY screaming, just that and nothing else, that I find funny. I feel in most cases these people like to try and prove how hardcore they are. When I was a kid, screaming relieved a lot of my stress, negative emotions and anxiety, but now that I'm an adult I'd say listening to screaming gives me more of an energetic happy feeling/rush :) I'm quite fond of heavy sounds, even if I do poke fun at them from time to time.

I totally agree with you! I don‘t understand the hate... even our own taste changes (even if we don‘t recognize it - we will never love EVERYTHING a band does musically) so how can you tear down bands? 😔thank you for speaking up!🥰 (sorry I‘m struggling a bit with english)🌸

I never minded my favorite artists changing if it's good. Me personally i love ALL music, maybe i'm ok with it because i listen to artists like Prince, Metallica, Paramore. Who've changed there sounds A LOT! i listen to jazz, hip hop and obviously i'm obsessed with JRock, have been since 2006. But maybe because my taste in music is extremely versatile, so when bands experiment it just never shocked me. I can go from listening to Nocturnal bloodlust to the rapper ski mask lol. Sadly some people are more linear with their taste in music, so if you're tied to a specific genre, your fans turn on you which sucks. This happens in EVERY genre sadly. I think it's so important for everyone to travel around the world, even musically. You learn so much about humanity, you also realize the cheesy quotes are true. We all really are ONE race. Glad she's listening to Buck Tick, they're musical Gods

You are totally right, I love Dadaroma, after Codomo Dragon is my favorite band and I was so sad. It's true their sound changed but as you said people change too so there is no drama, there are a lot of VKei bands to find out and maybe find one with the music that you like without the need to say bad things about the rest. I like a few songs from Royz, Kiryu, Neverland, Lycaon, Avanchick... some disbanded and others are still working just I listen what I like and when I don't like the new song, I go to another band. Even the taste of music as people grow up, changes. I love Backstreet boys and I loved Tokio Hotel (I left Tokio Hotel because I don't like electronical music) I keep BSB and I was adding Vkei (and some K-pop music too xD) to my taste. I hope if it is what they want, Yoshi will come back with a new project and also the rest of the members.

I didn't mention it in the video, but I also feel that bands changing/growing gives opportunities for other new bands to pop up and fill in the void. I mean several new vkei bands come out every year. It's quite enjoyable to see where they take their influences from *sniff* makes me feel all nostalgic, like a proud mother. Also, I did not even know Tokio Hotel was still in existence! Gotta go do some research now and see just how much they've changed all these years.

I'm a newer DIMLIM fan, but I love not only Misc but I enjoy all their previous work. I also enjoy a lot of harsher vocals, but I really enjoy when a band that makes harsher vocals can produce an album like Misc. And I'm someone who listens deathcore, metalcore and other extreme genres, but flexibility is a thing

I love when Visual Kei bands changing their music style! Of course not everytime it's in my taste, but I love when bands experimenting with music, genres, sounds. :) Last two Girugämesh's releases before disbanding, "gravitation" from 2014 and "Chimera" from 2016 are quite heavy, I think heavier than their songs from begginings where they were playing heavy music you like. :) And in 2022 they released song "engraved", really heavy. So check it out if you want. :) About Dadaroma, I've never really liked their music, but I really like Fukuro, it's great band, Yoshiatsu making now really good music.
