This is the teardown and rebuild of an MY19 Atom80. I bought this engine new on a PAP Tinox about 30 months prior and this engine had 460 hours on it when I did this. There were no noises or leaks from this engine. The reason for the complete overhaul was simply for routine maintenance.
History on the engine includes all required maintenance at the required intervals. Only exception would be that I never replaced the main seals. After teardown, the main seals, bearing, crank , rod and rod bearings were found in great shape. The cylinder walls were starting to show some expected wear. This piston was removed with about 250 hours on it, the piston bearing had 150 hours and the piston ring & reeds had 75 hours.
During this teardown I replaced with new parts the crank, main seals, main bearings, piston, piston bearing, piston pin, piston clips, cylinder, clutch and of course a spark plug. Also the following gaskets: cylinder base, head, & all exhaust gaskets.
