Arthur does remember Lewis, he just doesn't remember killing him or being possessed. He didn't recognize Ghost Lewis at all, mostly because he looks so much different (and terrifying to Arthur) compared to when he was alive. Until the very moment when he saw Lewis's true face after the last bit of ghost energy from his metal arm returned to them. Thus the look of shock on his face, and the "Lewis?" part of the previous video, which was chilling and I loved it! But yeah.

Mystery Skulls dropping this and with viziepop's Helluva Boss episode 1...this all made my week 😁

12:20 "We're pretty sure Arthur doesn't remember Lewis, right?" My understanding, at least, is that he doesn't remember that Lewis _died_ . At the start of Hellbent, what's on his laptop implies that he's looking for Lewis, but marks "the ghost" down on the same map to remind him to avoid it. So he doesn't realize Lew is Lewis, because he doesn't know Lewis is dead. ...There are at least two other things I wanted to point out, but I'm on mobile, so I'll see if you have any response to this before I put in the 10+ minutes to painstakingly type things out.

The green spirit (Envy?) has been with Mystery, and us, since the first video. It's only there for a frame or two, but when Mystery opens his mouth to attack Shiromori at 5:54, the inside of Mystery's mouth is green, which suggests that Mystery became "infected" when he bit off Arthur's possessed arm. But Mystery only became infected, not possessed. For some reason, the green spirit didn't (or couldn't) possess Mystery until the end of this video: Mystery's old master/companion was killed by his new master/companion (and the latter was injured by the former) after his old master/companion injured him. My theory: The green spirit was waiting for Mystery to grow his final tail and reach his full power before possessing him. Each tail's growth marks a moment of regret (or other negative emotion) for Mystery, based on the colored "tails" streaming out of his heart. If the green spirit realized that (which wouldn't have been difficult because the green spirit infected Mystery during one of those moments), then all the green spirit needed to do was wait. Oh, and hide itself, which it did in "Ghost", six years ago. When Vivi, Arthur, and Mystery are falling past the mirrors in Lewis's mansion, each character's mirror revealed what that character had lost: Vivi had lost her memories, Arthur had lost his arm, and Mystery had lost... himself. Mystery's mirror shatters when he looks at it: He has no reflection. He's lost himself because he's not "himself" now that he's infected by the green spirit. Maybe the green spirit shattered the mirror to hide itself, or maybe the mirror was giving Mystery a clue he couldn't understand. And now Lewis, Vivi, and Arthur are facing a possessed demigod. But this isn't a cliffhanger like the last video: There's so much we want to know, obviously, but the ending actually tells us what happened to bring Mystery (and us) to this point. The video's rewind reveals that it's the green spirit, and the rewind is also a clue to rewind the video further, which is how we can find the actual reveal of the green spirit at 5:54. I have no idea how this will end, but I think Arthur is the key. Nobody (including us) really knows anything about the green spirit, but Vivi and Lewis sort of understand their situations now and have grown as characters. But Arthur is still confused at the end of the video: His arm is pulling him around, and he doesn't know why. I'm not even sure if Arthur knows that the possessed Mystery in front of them is Mystery. But if Arthur is able to figure out what's happening, I think he can save them. I mean, that's what he's good at: fixing things.

As far as the whole thing with "Envy", no, he didn't infect Mystery like a virus, at least not like latent reaction type of thing. He was stuck in Arthur's severed arm that Mystery bit off in "Ghost" and we saw him run after seeing Shiromori in "Freaking Out". I'm assuming he was looking for a host and waits for them to be weakened by negative emotions like Arthur's jealously towards Lewis and Vivi's love and Mystery's despair at see Shiromori be destroyed. And what better vessel than a weakened kitsune spirit will full 9 tails?

Shiromori was just a flower in a dead forest until mystery came and gave it his blood and grew into and became the forest

The reason that Arthur didn’t die was because of Lewis changing his mind and trying to destroy the stalagmites. Sure, Lance shot Lewis and helped save him, but Lewis was going to let him live anyways. So I don’t think that it was entirely because of Lance that Arthur didn’t die.

Mystery was the one who created Shiromori right? I think thats why he gets so upset with her death, he feels at fault for causing all that to her. Also, Im pretty sure that his heart has all those tears for every thing he blames himself, Shiromoris death as white, Vivi getting very injured as blue, orange probably for having to "cut" Arthurs arm off, purple for Lewis death. So yellow could be for Lance maybe? Or some character we dont know, green maybe for Envy or for the green character that still hasnt appeared, maybe pink for Vivis ancestor? And black I really dont know. But thats my guess, his heart hurts every time someone he loves get hurts by something he thinks its his fault, and that let his Kitsune power out by one tail each time, or something like that.

Some small bits that you (probably) missed: - Arthur frowned for a second when the heart locket was grabbed from his hand (Implying he was sad and projects it when the image of the gang appears in the heart) - Speaking of the heart locket, the image changed from Lewis and Vivi to the entire gang when Arthur was holding it. Which probably means that the heart locket shows something desired/loved/important to the person holding it. (which adds extra sadness to Arthur. Baby nooo don't be sad) - Shiromori cried when she attacked Mystery, meaning that Shiromori either didn't meant to hurt him that much, was sad that she had to attack him or regretted hurting him badly. - Shiromori's heart looks like a fruit, with the main heart encased like a seed. Maybe she could regrow if her heart touched the ground? - Arthur is strong wtf he carried his unconscious middle-aged muscley uncle with a single arm after getting dropped while running AFTER the truck they were in *exploded*. - In the same scene Lewis has "eyeballs" - Mystery's heart has bandage over Vivi's and Shiromori's color while the other colors was cracked open. -how did he have bandage on his heart- does that imply that the other people mystery was bound to is dead with no descendant? Considering that Vivi wasn't dead when her color burst open, does that mean that the heart bursts when they get hurt badly? - Since a kitsune's tail tells how old they are, does that mean that when Vivi bled and Shiromori died Mystery just aged? - When ??? grabbed Mystery's heart, it _closed_ the crack where blue (Vivi), white (Shiromori), orange and black flowed. - Arthur's mechanical arm was attracted to Lewis and only stopped because Arthur stopped himself. - Vivi's heart eyes when Lewis was holding her.

If Mystery made Shiromori from that flower, would that not make her like a daughter to him?

Actually the "Rewind" part of the video contains a snippet of "When I'm with you" which seems to possibly be the song for the next/final(?) video

Y'know, I'm thinking something's gonna happen with Arthur next time. Think about it. Every other major character in this story (not counting Lance) has some sort of power, except for Arthur. And, his arm keeps responding to powers being used or unleashed, so, all things considered, it wouldn't surprise me if he got a power absorption ability, or something along those lines.

Considering the look on Mystery's face when Vivi home runned tree lady's heart. I think she was a seal on his heart. In the scene with his heart, there is a plaster (bandaid for you non-english people) which i think represents a seal. Once her heart was punted to space, the last seal broke i think.

I think every time something bad happens or the people Mystery cares about gets hurt, his heart was breaking and growing weaker, which made it easier for Envy to swoop in and corrupt his heart and allowing it to possess him. And possessing Mystery gave it a boost in its power, with Auther's robot arm acting up and trying to attack Lewis, showing Envy's hold on Auther still lingering.

When Shiromori turns back to look at Vivi attacking one last time, you can Shiromori's tear on her eye, meaning that she felt bad for hurting Mystery.

Just like how the song Enemy goes "Did you ever really think that i'd become, someone you'd call... your enemy?" Seems to apply very much to our good boi Mystery turning into !?Murder Mystery?!

my running theory currently is that ??? or envy possessed mystery as he was dying, before he fully ascended into a fully realized kitsune while he was in a weakened state, and the presence of envy caused both lewis and arthurs arm to freak out

A Kitsune grows a new tail for every 100 years it lives, up to nine at the height of its wisdom and power. If I had to guess the reason why he grows two more tails when he’s possessed by Envy, then either Envy is 200+ years older than Mystery, or they’re using different rules in-universe for what causes a Kitsune to grow more tails.

Also, one of my favorite things about this one is Lewis just being along for the ride if he can be protecting Vivi. He rushes to her side, and as Mystery is taken over, or whatever was happening, he faces the threat ALONGSIDE them, instead of being the one looming above them. I LOVE IT SO MUCH

Kitsunes originally have 9 tails. But then again, each tail for a kitsune is basically an indication on the kitsune's age and it's power level. As for the streams, here's what I can understand. Blue-ViVi, Purple-Lewis, Yellow-Arthur, White-Shiromori, Green-Envy (I suppose), and the Heart is well, Mystery's Heart by the looks of it.

Something that is probably important is that the two tears on Mystery's heart that open up in this one had bandages or patches over them. So the blue one could have originally torn when Vivi's past version died, and then was patched up when he found Vivi.

For someone that's already seen The Future like 16 million times this was sO GREAT

I'm guessing the colors in Mysteries' soul/heart represent the characters and the one with the Band-Aids were the plant girl and the ancestor of the past that he has got over but now they reopened and gave him the last 2 tails

I had a theory about envy that made sense to me about why he was able to both find and possess mystery, and why he possesed Arthur's hand. The theory was that Envy wanted to possess mystery, but either wasn't strong enough, or mystery wasn't emotionally weak enough for Envy to be able to reach his heart. (I figured the rivers of color flowing from mystery's heart was emotional damage from/caused by different people around him.) By possessing Arthur and making him kill Lewis, it would've caused mystery allot of emotional pain, though it was partially mitigated by Mystery saving Arthur by ripping his hand off. Envy could have filled ghost Lewis's mind with nothing but one track hatred and a thirst for vengeance against arthur to cause even more pain to mystery's heart (whether Lewis succeeded or failed, either way would have hurt him even a little bit...) Shiromori may have been just a happy accident, but it could have easily been useful for envy. Both for causing even more damage tomystery, and to give him a clear trail to mystery(though it might have just been able to follow where ever Arthurwent, as it was possessing his hand.) It wouldnt have to do anything but sit back and enjoy the show as both Lewis and shiromori did it's work for it. Once Mystery was down with his heart in tatters, envy could easily walk (or crawl on his fingers) over and grab Mystery's heart and fully possess him. I dont know if this makes sense, or if I got everything wrong here. Feel free to correct me or call me an idiot...

Mystery's heart has 8 colored stream of essence. 2 represents 1 person in mystery's life. Orange and yellow represents Arthur. Pink and purple represents Lewis. Blue and green represents Vivi. And black and white represents Shiromori.

The Green Spirit that was trying to possess Arthur in the beginning of the series is back and is now possessing Mystery. That’s why Arthur’s prosthetic arm is glitching out.

I’ve been trying to cobble together the story myself, and I feel like the future has definitely handed me some vital puzzle pieces. Not a full picture, yet, but I think I’m getting closer. I could go on a big ol ramble about it but I’m probably gonna save that until I’m either more sure of myself or it’s been longer and I’ve read a couple other people’s perspectives- man, this series is great, it really feels like every little detail counts to the greater whole. Also, as someone who has only seen your other mystery skulls reaction video, great to see the other two turtles are finally up lmao

I love your reaction and theories! Tho, in the beginning of Freaking Out, when Shiromori is at the cave, in the background, you can see the green hand lurking and it came back and possessed Mystery cuz he was the one to ruin his plan to take over Arthur, or something like that, I guess?

I was hoping you'd do a reaction to this. I enjoyed your reaction to Hellbent and enjoyed this reaction too. Mystery's connection to Shiromori is shown in the flashbacks stills in Hellbent. Shiromori seemed to be a lone flower in a dying/dead forest. He dripped his blood onto the flower and thereby shared his power with it. His power restored the forest which likely became his protector. He also might have been a violent or mischievous spirit in this time. Vivi's ancestor can also be seen fighting him and seemingly winning in one of the stills. If the case is that she defeated Mystery she may have gained him as a protector/ally. Which would be why he's protecting her descendant Vivi now. He likely had a bit of an internal struggle watching his allies former and present fight and try to kill each other and didn't want either of them to die. Which is why he stopped Vivi from finishing Shiromori when she had the chance. Also about the color trails coming off of Mystery's battered and scarred heart. Kitsunes live a long time and are said to gain anew tail every thousand years, or when major events happen that they survive. Each of those trails could represent someone that he's lost in his life. Notice there are bandages over the blue and white trails. Could be from Shiromori and Vivi's ancestor. A bandage over Vivi's ancestor because he now had Vivi to look after. Could be a bandage over Shiromori's white trail because she's not dead. But both of those bandages rip when Vivi gets wounded, and when Shiromori's heart gets home run swung. As for Envy as you call him, remember he didn't need to be inside Arthur to take him over. He may have just been waiting on the sidelines watching how this plays out and made his move when Mystery was weakened. And given that one of the trails coming off of Mystery's heart is also green it may be that he's also a former ally of Mystery who was targeting him from the start back in Ghost.

So I'll share my theory I posted on the original, as I'm sure you might like it too. The cursed hand can only possess the living who's emotions are vulnerable. Arthur in the cave where he was envious of what Lewis had. And now for Mystery, as Vivi was hurt, and he and Shiromori also had some sort of history and now she was struck down before him.

I'm fairly sure Arthur knows who Lewis is now, and knew who he was before too, considering the map had Lewis's face with question marks around it in the episode "freaking out". I was under the impression that Arthur was trying to remind Vivi of Lewis, and help her regain her memories of him by going on the same adventures they went on before. At the very least, I can't imagine Arthur would want to continue doing the mystery stuff for much other reason now that they lost a friend. Also, I'm fairly sure Mystery had to do SOMETHING with Arthur's arm after he tore it off, so I imagine he probably.... ATE it.... Which would explain why he could be possessed by it, since ingesting a possessed arm probably seals it more than destroys it, and since he was probably at his weakest, both with physical injuries to his body and emotional damage to his souls, the spirit took FULL control. We were shown that there is an extended cast, and that there were people Mystery knew for an extensive time, so its actually likely the other "injuries" are people we've yet to see. Who knows, the background story for this story could be way darker, and that the people Arthur was reminiscing about in Freaking Out are mostly dead and gone, causing more injuries to Mystery's soul in some way. Certainly would explain Arthur's uncle being ready for a fight so quickly instead of assuming a freak car accident.

Watching this made me so happy. I have been pumped up by this for awhile now, and seeing someone as excited about if not more made me feel less alone. thank you!

I never publicly theorize much but I do love the Mystery Skulls videos every time they come out and its definitely one story I love thinking about. One thing I thought about is why Mystery's ears are different colors at the end. Like whether it means he's not "fully" turned yet. I don't know if the envious hand is 'literally' inside him or just most of the spirit. I mean the ear that's still red is the same side as the missing hand... so maaaybe the hand still needs to physically return to fully transfer into Mystery... so many possibilities :u

4 Theorys: Probably accurate 1. I fell like mystery broke to much of his power and then he broke his heart or his anger has gone way over his head and took over him and now a darker side probably woken up inside of him and took over his heart. The reason why I think this is because at 5:51 mysterys anger got to him and then his heart teared and now when he got downed, at that point it was tearing more and more and he can't stop it from tearing and then it teared to much to where he can't turn back and now a scary powerful dark side woke up in side him and took over his heart. also mysterys heart has bandages on it to cover the tears on his heart. 2. Or probably got possesed by aurthers ghost because the ghost wanted to get a more powerful host for it to have and then it took over mystery. 3. Or there might be a strong connection between mystery and Shiromori. They might have a history that we dont know about yet 4. Might be both theory 1 and 2

With the heart, I think the blue and white lines that used to be bandaged over signifies "reopening old wounds" and that at one point Shiro and Mushi hurt each other, which physically caused Mystery's heart to break, at least in certain parts. If you look at the heart closely, some of the wounds look "newer" than others. The purple one looks the newest, and that probably happened when Lewis died

I think envy took control over Mystery because he was weakened. Judging by the animation the cracks appeared when someone close to him was harmed (blue cracked when Vivi got hit, white when Shiromory died). These two were also already bandaged and I think that that points to the fight where Mystery joined Vivi's ancestor and left Shiromory's forest. So the orange and purple? (maybe pink) is for when Lewis died and Arthur lost his arm. But what are the other 4 cracks? No idea. Also I have trouble figuring out what the the tails mean since I found them a bit inconsistent in the animations.

Also I dont know why but I just wanted to point out that Mystery's Heart has 5 tails when shown, and with the four fingers of the hand, together that makes Nine. What else has nine? Mystery and his nine tails. I'm not sure if this means anything or not, but it's just a fact to put out there

The ending got me thinking that Lewis, Vivi, and Arthur must evade Possessed Mystery to find His heart from the grasp of Arthur's possessed hand to free it from its corruption. And maybe find Shiromori's Heart to restore her back? Or just leave her husk to rot?.... idk but maybe in the Future, maybe we'll see it next chapter or final Conclusion.

I have a theory on what they will do with ENVY.. In the lore Mystery is assumed to be the typical benevolent good kitzune just used to be a trickster, But in japanese folklore there are TWO types of Kitsune, A good fox...mystery.. And an EVIL version of a kitsune... I wonder if the thing possessing arthur is an evil version of mystery, So when THEY MERGED, it showed...THE DARK FOX! If they had any sense, THIS would be the storyline

Definitely each strand of energy coming out of the heart is a magical connection with one of the other characters. Gonna go ahead and assume the green one is prob the connection with envy. This means we have one spare yes? So perhaps one more char to introduce before the end of the series still.

I love your reactions! I saw your Hellbent reaction when it came out, and it was the BEST one I had seen. So after processing The Future, I knew I had to find your reaction! You're excitement is infectious and your attention to detail is fantastic. You take time to appreciate the animation as well as analyze your thoughts on everything going on. Its GREAT.

Holy crap I didn't realize it's been 2 years! 😲 I'm I the only one that crap themselves after hearing them talk for the first time? Also that scream. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A few things I think are worth noting: The colored streams coming from Mystery's heart are definitely related to individuals: the blue is Vivi, as it burst out when Shiromori seriously cut her. The white is Shiromori, since it burst out when Vivi killed her. Also, those two colors are the only ones with bandages on them, which means Mystery has seen them, or in Vivi's case, her ancestor, get severely injured/killed before, or it could mean that those were the ones he had moved past, that the emotional wounds were healing for those two. I admit I have no idea who the other 4 streams are for, with the possible exception of green, which may belong to "Envy," which could mean that it and Mystery knew each other in the past, and might have had a major falling out, and that could be why Mystery's immediate response to Arthur starting to be possessed was removing the whole arm, since Mystery had seen what happens to the victim otherwise. This could also be why "Envy" panics and runs instantly at the sight of Shiromori, since it knew she would recognize it. Again, not an expert by any means, only really seen the 4 main videos, but some food for thought.

From what I have heard from people in the community is that the wounds on Mystery's heart is negative feelings unable to be contained. All of the combined wounds is what weakened him and allowed "Envy" to take control of Mystery. And here is what I think each wound is. Orange or Yellow: Guilt he feels for having to rip off Arthur's arm. Pink: Sorrow from Lewis's death. Blue: Regret from getting Vivi wrapped up in this feud(?) and her getting seriously hurt. White: Anguish from seeing Shiromori's heart fly out of her after possibly seeing her crying because she didn't mean for it to get to this point. Also note the band-aids, or patches, that Shiro and Vivi's colors fly out of. This could signify that they healed his heart somewhat which is why Mystery appeared to be trying to separate the two of them.

I was always under the impression Arthur's arm was possessed when he threw Lewis to his death and to stop the possession Mystery tore his arm off. As for the new info in the video when the plant girl got her heart knocked out of her torso ending her, I'm pretty sure that triggered Mystery's transformation. Pretty sure that was why he tried to spare her cause they are connected in some way.

And just theorizing ,the Green Hand use the most week pont of someone , the feelinng of lonelless of Arthur in the cave with all that was happeing with Lewis and Vive, And all emotions that mystery pass seeing the most loved people getting hurt and dying, so now , like you said , they have to stick together or they will be murdered.

put this in a reply, but here it is as a separate comment: I think Mystery's heart has color streams that match up with the colors of Lewis, Arthur, Vivi, and Shiromori. Either his heart bursts when someone he loves gets hurt badly, or his heart bursts when he has to expend his power to save someone he loves. The number of a kitsune's tail shows how old it is. Perhaps Mystery grows a tail each time because the amount of power he's using ages him rapidly/takes years off his lifespan. (As for why he has nine tails in the Hellbent flashback but seven in the present, maybe Mushi cut them off, ahah). He already let Lewis continue living as a ghost and saved Arthur from possession. Vivi coughed up a lot of blood, but when she's shown in full her wound is rather small. Perhaps Mystery used his power to decrease the wound. This also implies that he gave Shiromori another chance at living somehow, though. Maybe it'll be Groot style and she'll regrow once replanted.

I think that envy is more of a spiritual entity that takes control over your heart or “soul” when it’s the weakest. For example after you lose someone, your heart breaks so it gets weaker.

If you like animation you have to check out Gildedguy's story animations. They're the best animations I have ever seen. Gildedguy is also part of a huge animation community who make amazing stick fight animations and he even helped make a stick fight game. The channel that this huge community posts videos on is called Hyun's Dojo Community. You should check out some of those animations too.

These videos are amazing. The possesed green arm was in the very beginning of freak out and we see Arthur's arm was ripped off by mystery so the possession was in the background waiting to try and possess mystery. I know I’m late by almost a whole year but around 20:18 in the video, my take is that after Mystery tore Envy/Arthur’s arm off, the reason we see Envy in “Freaking Out” is because it was possibly looking or searching for Mystery and Arthur? And when Mystery fainted after whatever happened to his heart, that was a easy gateway for Envy to take control and get revenge after what happened to it But yet again we don’t have the whole thing explained to us except most of it, the best we can do is guess and theorize more

For the record, the Green Hand (Envy) is named Reverb, a demon entity that feed on negative emotions. Reverb planned to take possession of Mystery to become Murder Mystery. Reverb and Shiromori are considered rivals, so in "Freaking Out" upon seeing Shiromori, he hides from plain sight cause in his possessed hand state, he's not as strong to stand against her.
