Part 18: • Quentin Miller on ASAP...
Part 1: • Quentin Miller on Losi...
--------
In this clip, Quentin Miller weighed on whether new artists are subjected to signing bad deals and why his initial deal was exploitative. He warned new artists about some of the tactics record labels use today and admitted to not knowing much about publishing before signing the deal that virtually kept him broke for the duration of the contract.

That fuckin song was rocking arenas around the world for 25 minutes straight in 2011-2012. Fuck making $10M, if I didnt even see $10 grand I dunno if I woulda had the perseverance to keep doing some shit that I love to do, that people just shitted on in front of the whole world

@@darnelldarden9429 and these publishing stories have been cautionary tales since the 90s. TLC, say no more. And people still find themselves in the bullshit. Im not above nobody cause at 21, 22 I prolly woulda took the fuckin too and tried to get right after I produced some dope music but just off IYRTITL alone, yeah I'm in a fucked up publishing deal but bro you KNOW I laced you with some HEAT. You can't slide me 100k under the table?? 50k?? Then you just curve me cause of some bullshit I even tried to get in front of before it got too big and it wasn't even my fault?? OVO did QM dirty and same with WTT and Hit Boy. My morale would have been SHOT. I prolly wouldn't have made a beat or wrote a rhyme for 6-12 months. I just worked my ASS OFF and got FUCKED, but hard work pays off?? The math ain't adding up, bullshit catching up. You wrote RICO then they repo'd your vehicle.... everything was all good just a tweet ago. Ready to start bitching ain't you?? Ready to start snitching ain't you?? I forgive your weak brand, standing up just AINT YOU.

He had leverage when it was industry knowledge that he was a Drake ghostwriter. If he was that much enamored with The Dream, he should’ve worked directly alongside him and his management team. It’s truly unfortunate. He had all the leverage he ever needed being that connected to Drake. He sees now he had options. 🚨
@datbul

Yeah but the moment he got the 'leverage' could also be seen as the moment he lost it. Once he was on the outs with Drake's team, everyone in the industry understood that working with him meant potentially risking their relationship with Drake.

I understand signing, but when you sign…it’s a glorified 9-5, but you working 24-7 and it’s becomes your life instead of clocking out…ya don’t clock out. First there several ways to get out and void a record or publishing deals. One a mistake, misrepresentation , fraud by the label, Failure to disclose a material fact, one who s under age, beach of contract terms and conditions, undue influence and durass. A material fact is a fact that a reasonable person would recognize as relevant to a decision to be made, distinguished from insignificant, trivial and unimportant detail or essential to know or right to act determine or defend against one or other.
