In this new interview, Vlad sits down with Vanilla Ice, the first rapper to top the Billboard charts and sell the fastest-selling hip-hop album at the time, which remains one of the biggest to date. Ice played a significant role in popularizing hip hop worldwide & unintentionally helped fund Death Row Records, propelling the success of artists like Snoop Dogg. After his hip-hop career, Ice transitioned into real estate, where he continues to strive financially. Ice penned his top hit, “Ice Ice Baby,” when he was just 16, although he noted that his song “Ninja Rap" is also popular among younger fans. Ice credits his success to his own work, refuting claims that someone named Mario Johnson assisted him. Ice stated that he had initially intended to sign with Def Jam Records but changed his mind after being offered a better deal by another label. Throughout the rest of the interview, Vanilla Ice talks about Eminem, MC Serch, overcoming drug use, and much more.

That’s because these youngsters fail to understand that they are who they hang out with! It’s is very important to note the criteria and quality of people that anyone choose to keep in their corner. This is especially relevant when it involves individuals who have the opportunity to be seriously engaged in select business industries. The root of this problem is the lack of respect for similar values. A large majority of people (in general) are truly incapable of understanding how to separate a personal approach from a professional perspective.

WOW! I didn't know Vanilla Ice is so intelligent and well spoken person. I was a Senior in high school when Ice Ice Baby hit #1. It was the beginning of Hip Hop music. This was one of the first Hip Hop songs that become mainstream. He was super popular during the early 90's. He was popular around the same time as MC Hammer. Hip Hop was much more fun and danceable back then. Nowadays Hip Hop has become so dark and angry. People don't want to admit it, but Vanilla Ice was a pioneer for a lot of future Hip Hop artists.

I graduated HS in '91. It was different back then for sure. Music doesn't drop the same and young people of today miss out. When this came out in '90, with no internet, everywhere you went as a teenager this was playing. In your car, everyone's car, the mall, the arcade, etc. This was before Nirvana and I believe that this song not only pushed hip-hop into dominance, but it was also the 1st death nail for hair metal too.

@@yanicyoda4762you’re either really young or some clueless white guy who’s knowledge of hip hop begins and ends with Eminem! He wasn’t disrespected because he wasn’t a gangster. Plenty of credible hip hop artists of his era weren’t gangsters either, and they were held in high regard. He became a joke cos he lied about his background and claimed to be from streets etc. also at the time he was really corny. He tried so hard to look “cool” and ended up looking like an idiot. His movie “cool as ice” didn’t help him either.

He embarrassed himself in the nineties as if he were trying to go platinum in assholery. He has done well for himself living off that monster tune. Half of his own fans probably can't name another single by him. I was there that day when Suge visited Vanilla Ice.. i wasn't inside the hotel, i was on the Street looking up at the balcony.. i worked for Suge in the late 90s & early 2000s.. but that day i was only there to basically be a look out to make sure no one else was coming up to the hotel, i was a young kid, basically a boy, but i had older homies that actually were on payroll for Suge.. the story has some truths.. When i was looking up @ the balcony Suge had Ice backed up on the balcony & Suge was smoking the cigar & ashing the cigar down the balcony & looking down at me where i was, & Vanilla ice was hanging over the balcony but Suge wasn't holding him, he wasn't hanging as in being held by his legs he was hanging over the balcony like as if he was trying to look down, so he himself put his body over the balcony to look down because (im not implicating anyone) but there was a indirect threat where Suge said "i would never hang you over the balcony and hold you by the legs bcuz im not the type to do that, you know me, im a business man & a gentleman" but by him saying "i wouldn't hold you by the legs and hold you over the balcony because im not the type to do that" he wasn't threatening to do that but that planted the seed in Ices mind that hes low key probably saying he really is the type to do that.. the only reason i know that happened because when we all left they laughed about it in the car & we went to a restaurant & were drinking & toasting to another successful day & it was repeated by someone what was said on the balcony between them, because it was Suge & Ice alone on the balcony originally but a 3rd guy opened the slider door when Suge mentioned to Ice to look how far down the fall is.. but the 3rd guy just stood there at the door at the exact time when Suge said to look down.. but he wasnt hung over the balcony, even though i was a young kid i still remember

I love seeing ice happy again, and embracing his past and enjoying life, i was born in 1980 i seen his incredible rise to the top and sadly all the bs that brought him down, i remember early 2000s how he was bitter and hated ice ice baby didnt want to even be attributed to it, was embarrassed of his past, and now he sees how important that song and himself was to millions of ppl worldwide, and actually shares in the feeling of most his fans from that era that we wish we could go back to them days, he reminds me of mike tyson witb all the quotes and wisdom hes learned over the years, ice is the man, word to ya motha

Well spoken dude with some cool stories, but I did find it funny that he said "I wish I had an ego to really absorb all that" when talking about his accomplishments, and then he proceeds to demonstrate that he has a pretty decent sized ego throughout the rest of the interview... lol. I'm not knocking him necessarily, there's nothing wrong with having an ego, especially when it's backed up by actually impressive accomplishments, but I did find that comment funny.

He's trying to play a lot of it down for sure. But there's a lot he's defensive about and seems to regret, so I think he's putting more emphasis on the good stuff ("half a billion fans" etc.) as a means of making the bad stuff seem not so bad.

This guy is such a great person. So happy for him that he is doing well and got clean early on. Would love to hear some of his other stories. Maybe some touring stories. And of course the Pablo stories. Good Bless Vanilla Ice. Wish you always the best, like they said in the 80's and 90's, don't ever change!
