My VLOG on traveling. We went to the Mall of America in Minnesota and I used a wheelchair for the long walks. Being on vacation is fun, but can be challenging when you have MS.

I went there long ago (more than a decade I think). I did not have MS then. I do remember we went to the aquarium too. Now it would be very challenging and no rollercoasters for me either. I am in flare or psuedo flare. Hard to tell. Brain and cervical spine MRIs ordered as it has been about 6 months since my last set. Labs too. Neurology appt next week. I am hoping to go put my neuropathy feet in Lake Superior this summer with some help to get down the path and across the beach. My poor walker is used to off roading. I am pretty stubborn that way. I just get tired really fast so it will have to be a family trip. Last year we did a family trip south with my walker and at a state park in GA my wheels were just covered in mud. We asked for a hose to clean it off before getting back in the vehicle, lol. I solo travel around my area when not in flare, but I keep the phone close by. Mostly state park travel to accessible paths and areas. Keep on keeping on. You are doing great! There are adaptive kayaks too with runners and a back to lean against, that is on my bucket list.

That’s so great to hear that you are doing those trips with your walker and you just do it. I can’t walk in sand at all, so going to the beach is worrisome, but I really want to do it. I really appreciate your comment, you are so inspiring ❤️

@@SaraslivingwithMS The trip we took last year was to the Biltmore Estate in NC. Accessible parts with an old cool elavator, but you cannot see the basement things as they are not accessible. They have a movie tour of that part and the tickets are discounted for you and a caregiver. We went to Myrtle Beach, Tybee Island Beach and Jupiter Beach. I used a cane and had both sisters like bookends. It was a bucket list road trip for my Mom. My brother was also with so he was the official get the walker out guy. They told me I was going even if they had to buy a red wagon and pull me around, lol. My older sis found all accesible points with ramps at beaches. Some beaches have beach walkers or wheel chairs for the beach, but that is more rare and we did not find any at those access points. My legs did not even move well, but they were patient. I had not put my feet in the Atlantic or picked up shells since I was a teen. They wanted me to have that experience. The trip was one year ago. We all have really good memories. I do have my future outings to state parks planned if I have times in a wheel chair. I am in WI and there are several places that let you put a deposit on an all terrain chair (with treads) so you can enjoy hiking off road. You get deposit back if chair is not ruined. Both my sisters are breast cancer survivors. My older sis now has multiple myeloma. She has 13 spinal fractures, 5 cemented and is on oral chemo. She has already booked her air B&B for Door County in the fall to attend a wedding. We take plenty of time to rest and have days in bed. She was bed ridden since Oct. We are determined to make all accomodations to keep doing what we want in modified ways.
