A Train with around eighty peaple on board, hit into the obstacle and the Frontwheels of the railcar derails. The railcar then rumbles aprox 120 Meter beside the Railway and came to a stop. Nobody whas injured (see on Video before). As we swiss think (and the Germans clearly too, I guess it's a european thing) : I'ts better to have Equipement and not need it, than need it and not have it. Here in my Region there's quite a important Railtunnel going under the Alps, where there's million's of CHF worth of specialized Fire and Rescueequipement with all the local Fireunits trained on them, which likely never will be used... But IF something's going to happen it's a matter of Minutes to get it ready and going into Action... There's tons of such Equipement like in this Video around in Storage. For Years and Years it will only be taken out regularely for Training, Maintenance and Functionchecks, but if needed it's in perfect working Order and Personnel knows to use it blindly...

Amazing efficiency and fantastic piece of equipment. Seemed to be dealt with quite quickly. I wonder how much longer it would have taken Rail Track to sort that out, by the time they sort out the H&S paperwork, agreed working permits and conditions with the union then got there to cancel the recovery due to bad weather. Meanwhile the line stays closed for 3 days.

I suppose the train engineer sent a picture of the situation to headquarters and they decided to send this equipment. The train is only slightly off the tracks and it’s not leaning at an angle. If the situation was more complicated, then they would send a crane. I reckon this sort of small derailment happens in switching yards.

The glove hand of the man giving the hand singles to the operator is impossible to see. The glove is the same color as the trees/ sky. You can not see one finger up or a closed hand singles given back to the jack operator. The glove color should be a bright color and in sight of the operator. Safety 101 . Thank you for sharing this dangerous operation with us. At the 12:20 mark

Well, in the 19th century, it was a bit more difficult: 20 railway workers, who had to stem the locomotive with steel shafts and some who had to climb under the train and put the bolders in place. much more dangerous. nowadays nobody can be hurt, if the lifters fail.

We could have used this at Steamtown (Bellows Falls, Vt, USA). However, we never got that far off the rails that we couldn't rerail with the paltry equipment we had. Slower speed helped keep the distance traveled off the rails down.
