Now Ken, surely you are musically experienced enough to know that by the very definition of cover song, "All by Myself" is a cover of Eric Carmen, not Celine Dion! Celine's version, just like Dimash's, is a cover of Carmen's original. Celine didn't even get around to recording her version until 22 years after Carmen wrote the lyrics, recorded the song, and took it to the highest position it ever attained on the American music charts. Music industry folks are extremely sensitive about credit where credit is due, and Carmen would have every right to be offended that someone other than himself was being credited for all the work he put into creating a song that has become a pop music standard.

Like one of the comments from fellow Dears, ever since I discovered Dimash, I have the "Need" to listen to his voice every single day, because his voice brings me love, joy and internal happiness. I have listened to many types of music over my 61 years. From classical to pop, from rock to disco. Popular artists come and go, but no one, and I mean NO ONE, has the voice that reaches into my heart and soul and the ability to transport me on a journey to somewhere beyond and gives me goosebumps and chills each time I listen to him. Dimash is unique. BTW, this performance was in 2017, so he was 22 years old. Love and respect for Dimash.

If you want to hear an opera from him, just listen, you will soon see the duet he sang with Placido Domingo. The recordings have just been made in Bufdapest, they will be broadcast at the end of December with 4 countries TV, after which it will definitely be posted on YT as well. (I was lucky enough to hear a few seconds of snippets during the recording,,, well, wáoo :D )

LOL. The man with the lion's mane is in a band called Lion. He's their guitarist, his name is Lee Q Wu. Jam Hsaio is next to him and he's the leader/singer/composer of that band and the famous one of the band. By this point (episode 9) Dimash and all the other competitors are very friendly. Especially after episode 8 (song called Daybreak) where Dimash was sick. Everyone was worried that he was pushing himself too hard. So that's why I think Dimash was a little extra in his vocal acrobatics that week. He sang this song quite a number of times over the years, but this one and the New York performance is my favorite.

The guy with the hair is Li Q, and is the lead guitarist for their band "Lion Chorus." The one with him is the lead singer, I think they called him Jam, but I'm not sure. They were also competing in the same show. The guy in the white said that it was stressful to sing after Dimash. I watched the entire show, with Eng. subtitles, and some of the other singers were really good...and then came Dimash. I don't know if you have or not, but it would be remiss of you not to react "Adagio", and "Unforgettable Day" from this same show. I cannot leave a comment and not give the orchestra and background vocalist their props. They are amazing. Other Chinese singers were, in my opinion, better than the person who won. However, she was a beloved and favored singer. So, please listen to those two songs. Dimash composed "Unforgettable Day" when he was 19. He was 22 when he appeared on The Singer 2017.

My favorite performance of this song is at his concert in New York, it’s so special and precious to me. Dimash also sang All by myself in a duet with his lovely sister Raushan. My favorite version of this song is by Nicola Sedda. I've not found a live version yet, but I keep hoping for one (futilely, I'd guess). He's not Dimash, but who is? Probably not much fan interest for this smaller artist, but worth a listen privately. Very clean vocals.
