Finally a Vocal Coach that actually knows about screams and growls! I would like to see you do a reaction to some of Devin Townsends stuff, either from DTP or SYL. Just to hear you explain how he does it, where as other vocal coaches dont seem to know exactly how he does it. My personal thought is that no matter what you think of his music, his voice is incredible.
@KardavoxAcademy
@KardavoxAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! And yea, Devin Townsend is on an absolute other level. From what I understand most of his screams build on Fry. And his singing voice is TONS of diaphragm work and relaxation in the throat. Honestly He never ceases to impress.

I admire your technical awareness and variety of your vocals. Good to see that I am not the only one who puts concious attention on what is happening with the voice while growling, screaming or anything else :D Advice for getting highs with directing the sound towards the hard palate and using resonators around the "masque" is great! For me and people that I practice with, one of the methods that help is just a practice of a clean head voice or falsetto and then combining it with the false cord distortion like basic growl (sustaining the pitch of that head voice/ falsetto) and adding projection with a solid breath support.

It's not the "goblin"! That particular high of Dickie's is called the "feral witch" as named by the guys in Infant Annihilator during the recording of their 1st record with him lol Such a unique style and the name is perfect! I feel like another reason people struggle with highs is because they're trying to use false chord to achieve a sound that's more fry, so they aren't satisfied with the false chord highs they are capable of doing. A lotta the "struggle" I see is that they just aren't happy with how high their high is but there is a limit as to how high a false chord will be and, for most people, fry will be higher from my experience and what I've seen. I'm disappointed in the community for not putting up "Scumprophet" or something like that up for view. This song is dope, but these vocalists are better than this now. The way Sir Dickle and Ben are so good at using tunnels for emphasis instead of just relying on em to sound unique is one of the many things that sets em apart for me. Since they've started to really get some clout I've noticed more and more vocalists abusing the technique. It's kinda weak. Damn! Homies killin it at the end 👍

Feral Witch, haha I dig it! Definitely applies. You can get very high with false cord screams, I pretty much stick to false cord exclusively. The issue is that people have a hard time compressing the false cord airflow but, once they can do that, highs are definitely in their grasp. My brand of Sacrifice video covers that a bit. And yeah Alexander nailed it with those vocals :)

I'm really impressed with your degree of knowledge. So many KZfaq vocal coaches have no clue about the technique behind each different sound. You clearly do and can recreate most of it really well. One thing, that "dark pact of ancient knowledge" or whatever you called it is just throat singing. A lot of these really nasty sounds come from applying throat singing concepts to harsh vocals. Specifically khoomei and sygyyt. A lot of slam too comes from dag kargyraa. Kargyraa in general has a lot in common with harsh vocals

Would be cool to see you do job for a cowboy (emtombment of a machine, or any track for that). He has 4 different styles in each track for the most part. Well as I hear it, at least.

I would absolutely love to see you do a breakdown of Lorna Shore's King ov Deception or Death Portrait. There are two specific screams in each of those songs that I absolutely do not understand how they do it. Just incredibly long, seemingly single breathed gargled and straight evilllll it's insane. Similar to some of the moments Shrine of Malice has. Also, Aversions Crown breeding process. I've wanted to learn to scream for so long and have never been able to. But also haven't really done any lessons so 🤦‍♂️ would be curious to learn about your academy and teaching methods for someone that has no idea what they're doing haha

My only problem with vocals is maintaining distortion from the throat and using water for it!

Dude I'm the same way bro. Anytime I hear some black metal mix into deathcore I get so excited. Blast beats with melodic synth/piano all the way! lol SOI is like top tier when it comes to this.

React to ENDON's "Your Ghost Is Dead" A Japanese experimental noisegrind band produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge. I don't really know what to say to convince you to react to them but THE VOCALIST...just...please. You WILL NOT be disappointed.
