Hearing how healthy and strong his voice is here, and the control man wtf. How could he possibly recover from how burned out his voice was in 2003-2005 era, and get back to this level. Incredible

I can't get over it either. Reminds me of Ali when he was "too old" and should've got crushed by George Foreman, but somehow, the souls of special people find a way to take the wheel and drive it home.

Chris Cornell's sad songs always made me feel better when I was depressed. My thought was that if he could make such beauty from his sadness, maybe there was still hope for good in my own. Thank you for choosing this song. I love it, and everything from the Euphoria Morning album.

Chris has defended "depressing' and 'angry' music a few times against naysayers in interviews who believed that it made people feel the same way. He would always respond that it's important to write that kind music, so people who are struggling with those negative feelings know that there is someone else out there going through the same struggle, and that they aren't alone.

I feel what you’re saying. It took me a couple years too. And some of it is really far more poignant than it even was initially in terms of lyrics. I never kidded myself that Chris was over his depression I just didn’t expect that kind of end for him. And his death occurred after my dad’s and before my mom’s so it was a tough few years there and it’s like I lost a friend to comfort me.

He wrote this so so many years before his life ended. I always think of how many years he had these thoughts even back earlier than this. Living with that sadness for so long much have been so exhausting. Now he’s resting out there in the universe somewhere and maybe that pain has been healed. That’s what we can hope for.

100% most of his work is completely Overlooked even by fans. He was a fantastic singer as we all know, but was an absolute songwriting machine! Easily top 10 songwriter all time. Period! Even when he made it big he never stopped writing real, true to the heart music like so many others do. It wasn't in him to sit back and pump out mediocre half hearted albums. That's because he was the REAL DEAL!

I'm so glad you're FINALLY reacting to a Chris Cornell video that does him justice, lol! Although a devout worshipper at the altar of Chris Cornell, I can admit his performances could be a bit unpredictable live, depending on his vocal health and on how "altered" his mental state was, but when he was ON like in this video, he was godlike. RIP legend

I saw him in Montreal at the Olympia or Saint-Denis Theater, I think it was in 2009. Solo performance with bits of "unplugged" versions of SoundGarden songs. I was just blown away. He was on a "sharp" state of mind and shredded for 2 hours and a half. One of the best live shows of my 56 years old life.

I never really saw a bad performance - until the last one. He lived so much for music. He was music. I think if anything he just pushed it too hard to be all things for all people. To reform and tour with Soundgarden, to be working on touring Higher Truth and working on the next project, and soundtrack projects, and charity work - As someone who suffers from depression - and of course without anywhere near those demands, it is heartwrenching that he forgot to take the time to help himself. And he was a loving father ahd husband and spent a lot of time away during the last few years. Depression creeps up on those of us who are vulnerable to it. And it truly does take over.

I think it has to do with marketing and circumstance. Euphoria Mourning was difficult to pin down as a genre, it's a bit slow and cerebral for most rock stations, and pop only cared about boy bands and underaged underclothes girls. I also think the singles were poorly picked, they played it too safe with poppier songs that didn't showcase Chris' vocals well. 'Pillow of Your Bones' was hard enough for rock and it has an immediate hook with the opening riff. I think, if he released Higher Truth as a country record he'd have killed it! and pump some real music into the trash heap in the process.

Thankyou Beth. My favourite song. So many people react on the wrong songs. Thankyou for finally doing one of the greatest songs. I know every artist is unique, but Chris was at another level. Soundgarden, temple of the dog, Audioslave, solo. How many other contemporary artists of his time did any this. keidis, Layne , Kurt, Scott weiland, Billie corgan, hetfield, Billie Joe, vedder. No one even comes close. So please guys don't even bother making a comparison because no one is even slightly close. Actually now that I think if it I can name one and if you don't know him look him up. Daniel Johns. His solo work and Silverchair. Yeh, he is worthy of placing alongside Chris. A musical genius in a different way.

A great reaction video to a great performance by my all favourite singer. I have to agree its one of the best performances to hear his voice. 2 other songs I would recommend by CC are The Last Remaining Light and Seasons.

I know how you feel. His voice was so beautiful and his ability to use it was so extraordinary. Then to think of it and his beautiful soul gone. Makes me cry too.

I cried the very first time I had seen that version of the song. Still today, I cry when I see that particular video. Miss him so bad.

The studio jam of seasons recorded and filmed much later in his career is amazing! It's done with a room full of studio musicians, including percussions which gives a heavier vibe.

Nice reaction, Beth! I’m laughing a bit at 7:14, how you pivoted from a melancholic “beautiful soul” to your trademark peppy “thanks for watchiiiiing!” 🤘🏽

I grew up listening to Soundgarden and fulfilled my dream of seeing them live in 2012. He is so missed and I got emotional watching your reaction video. He was such a beautiful soul indeed.

Yup, he always avoided the question when asked until recently. I never realized Chris was one of Jeff's heroes who eventually became his close friend. Two of the most versatile singers on the planet could easily relate I suppose
