I am a passionate singer with years of experience and I have a music degree in performance. I’ve developed my ability to sing and the skill to professionally voice coach through years of practice and by using various voice trainers.
I wasn’t born with a singing voice, I taught myself how to sing from a young age and over the years of practice my voice developed, therefore this is why I believe that ANYONE CAN SING. David has worked very hard to accomplish his vocal mastery. He deserves all the accolades he can get. Not very many artists can achieve what he has done. He writes many of his own songs, does amazing arrangements, produces his own songs and goes the extra mile to put on a fabulous show for his fans.

David's tone and vibrato are absolutely beautiful, in my opinion one of the best vocalists to ever hold a microphone! He's also one of the nicest and most humble people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting!

Great reaction!! David was classically-trained as a Rossini (leggiero) tenor. He used to belt very often around that Eb5 and honestly, there are very, very few singers in contemporary music that I've heard who have the amount of control he has above C5, and I'm talking about both men and women.

I think he only really starts mixing at D5 onwards, because the fullness and depth of the sound is still there

You must react to songs of the gaither vocal band. They are amazing. David phelps was a former member of the group. They have amazing harmonies. Some songs of gaither vocal band: Glorious freedom Low down chariot Swing down chariot Give it away. Alpha and omega. One voice/where no one stand alone I hope you see this. Love you soo much

The Gaither Vocal Band as a long history of almost 45 years of having the best tenors in Contemporary Christian Music. Each different style singers, David was the first true classically trained vocalist with the GVB. Here is another example - Steve Green was the first tenor for the GVB starting in 1980. From one singer to another, I HIGHLY suggest you check out the acapella group VOCTAVE for future reaction videos. They are one of the best in the business. They blow people away every time they put new stuff on KZfaq. They even collaborated with David Phelps once for one of their songs.

To correct you, they were not mixed notes. They were chest notes. A mixed register is a mix between head and chest. His belt notes were all chest.

@@aymuseek6028 specifically the transition from chest to mixed. Also, my mixed is only "decent" at certain pitches and syllables. I am self-taught and am not a performer, but I have played music/sang basically my entire life. It is a hobby at this age (other than church). I can hit a B in chest voice but anything above a G (which is consistent) becomes sketchy. Just always looking to learn, friend. Enjoyed your knowledge/analysis/breakdown of David's voice and would like to learn more. Thanks for the consideration and comment!

That is all is natural voice no mixed voice. Is mixed voice starts to kick in at E flat.

I never mentioned that he sings with falsetto, towards the end he sang with a strengthened falsetto.

So is there a difference? I saw him live and OMG! He blew the roof off. Idk what it is about his voice...If he sings with a group...I can pick him out. He makes me cry. It's like you're being told a story every time he sings.
