I hear you about hearing the guys on something you wouldn't expect, but the guys have literally done that their entire career, they are not afraid of doing the unexpected. On top of that, this was Jin's FIRST solo and LAST song BEFORE he leaves for the military and he wanted a song that would tell ARMY how much he loves and appreciates us before he leaves... that is not the time to do something experimental before having to step away for two years.

I love this MV so much as it captures everything what jin and what his daily life is about and shows us armys that whenever he leaves home it's the first thing he misses. Also Jinnies vocals are amazing on this song and you can feel every bit of emotion coming from him and this song brought tears to my eyes (it just the way he sings that does it) Let's stream this sing for him to show him how much we love him and will miss him. Also I love how the little girl represent us army and to Jin we are his family. Also I love how the little girl not only represented us armys but also his Hyungs aka the other members.

You hit the nail on the head 😂 It was co-produced by Coldplay and co-written by Coldplay (and Jin) Did you by chance catch the references in the MV? In case you didn't, there's lots of metaphors, like the little girl represents Army, (some also say BTS too) the bike represents independence, the helmet Jin put on her was protection and guidance, the crossword puzzle "army" "moon" "cozy" "family" all connect to his storyline with Army, even in the end of the MV a bell rings (im assuming on a bike?) signifying there's more to come in the future from Jin. Even something cool, in the last shot, driving into the sunset you can see in Braille on his neck says "ARMY" too, just a nice touch of BTS's inclusivity. It's Jin's last song before he enlists into the military this December, it's a farewell song to ARMY! He performed it live with Chris Martin and Coldplay during one of their concerts in Argentina, he traveled from Korea to sing it live with him. There are sooo many details in this MV that mostly only armys will be able to notice/understand and here are a few that really stands out. I hope it helps you guys understand why it is such an emotional one for the fandom. - There are many other BTS MVs where they used a small girl to represent the fandom so the girl here represents the fandom, ARMY. - She's wearing a purple helmet in a later shot(purple is the official colour of the fandom) It was black first because purple was never a special colour to the fandom until after a few years of their debut when Taehyung gave it a meaning. So it kind of signifies and captures a small detail of the timeline of BTS and ARMY, in a sense. - They chose a girl who is around 9-10 years old because it's the same as ARMYS age; the fandom was formed around 10 years back. -If you look closely there is a braille tattoo on his neck and it reads "ARMY" - The suit Jin wears at the beginning of the MV resembles the one he wore to the first day of school in real life (there is a photo of 4-year-old him wearing a suit that looks exactly like that) The kid's drawing on the wall shows him wearing the same suit once again. It's basically to show his past and innocence, reminiscence of his lyrics from "Yet to come": "Somewhere deep inside your heart, there still lives a young boy" - Chris Martin makes a cameo in the MV as the news reporter reading the news - The blackened-out spaces on the crossword (in braille) reads "For ARMY" - The guitar you see in his room is the same guitar Chris Martin signed and gifted Jin when they met. - If you notice when he was on the street people ignored him but the "astronaut" caught his attention. Jin was cast on the streets randomly by a Bighit staff who saw him get off the bus. He never intended to be a kpop-idol and never auditioned. So the astronaut here could represent the company itself who found him literally on the street one day. - The shot of his room has elements that represent all BTS members - Books = Namjoon, Guitar = Yoongi, Instant camera = Jhope, Flowerpot (like his "serendipity" bubble) = Jimin, Vinyl player/Boston bag= Taehyung, Speaker/Radio = Jungkook) They're all there, close to him. - The pickup truck has a lot of meaning because it has appeared in many of their past MV that's connected to the BU ( Love Yourself Highlight reels, the HYYH era) In those MVs, it was Jin who used to drive the boys around in a black pick up truck ; it symbolises the time they cherished together and their memories. In this case, it was a pick up truck (reminiscence of the ones in their MV) that finally stopped and took him "home" In a way, Jin was like a lost astronaut that happened to crash land on earth which was unfamiliar to him just like how he ended up as a part of BTS without ever dreaming for such a path. It was unfamiliar and he was unsure about it (that was the reason why he had a stoic expression most of the time) until he met the little girl (army) who cherished him and to whom he taught things only to realise later how they both made each other happy. He realised home was where his "family" is ; his family comprising of his 6 brothers and ARMYs. Towards the end, Jin looks hopeful and eager as he hears the sound of the bicycle bell which indicates that the little girl(army) is waiting right outside (fun fact: the first option for the fandom name they had was "bells" and they later changed it to ARMY) ; that when he returns back from the military, army will be waiting for him. These are just a few but there are soo many other details. I hope you react to his LIVE performance too (You must listen to the speech Chris Martin gave before the actual performance. It's emotional but beautiful all at the same time

The song was meant to be a heartfelt goodbye to ARMYs so I think they purposely made the song so it doesn't have any particular climaxes - if you do want to hear Jin 'going off', there are plenty other songs in which he does, this isn't really meant to be one of those songs. Jin's personal rendition of Epiphany (it is a demo, not official) has an entire different melody but is very full of emotion and has strong elements of what you are probably looking for in vocals (even though the lyrics makes no sense, they were just placement lyrics). The live version of the Astronaut is very heart-wrenching (including Chris Martin's speech) which I highly recommend.

Chris Martin found the beauty of Seokjin's lower register that they barely use in BTS songs. Even tho Seokjin has crazy upper range, he has an exquisite and warm middle/ low voice. I really love this song esp bcs of that. It feels like a warm hug on a rainy day

Yes! I’ve been waiting for your reaction to this since it was released. I hear you when you say you want something different. This song was different to me because Jim is almost always hitting the highest of high notes. In this song was more…comfortable I should say and it was so soothing the way that they did that chorus. I know you were more focused on the vocals, but the purpose of the song and story of the music video just add to the feeling of the whole project. Hopefully when Jin comes back from the military we’ll get to hear more of the experimental sound you were talking about.
