Yea man the poor band was like “shit there goes our living and life,” Vedder didn’t have a care in his life at that point and he musta been going through something cuz honestly I get the impression that he didn’t care if he fell and died either lol.
@FoxUnitNell
@FoxUnitNell 4 жыл бұрын
@@zergtoss1 Vedder had a background in surfing, and though it sounds weird, it'd hurt more falliing off a 30 foot wave and hitting the water than hitting hard ground since there's also the wave's forward momentum throwing the surfer forward from the wave. People who jump from the golden state bridge don't die from drowning, but they die from the impact of hitting the water. I'm sure the band did indeed think he was going to die, but from my knowledge, he'd taken bigger risks as a surfer - whom break limbs all the time from being thrown from waves and hitting rocks from the bottom or otherwise catching overly high waves.
@AlphaMachina
@AlphaMachina 4 жыл бұрын
@@zergtoss1 He cared. I used to climb like this, without any regard for my life, and it was a spontaneous thing that I didn't really think through at the time. Every time I did it, I didn't stop to think about it until I stopped climbing, which was, thankfully once I got to the top, or back down to the bottom, at least until I got high enough that I realized how difficult it was going to be to climb down. It's a lot harder to climb down than it is to climb up. I used to climb up the rock faces at Tunica Hills (Clark Creek) in Louisiana, 50-60ft up hanging onto roots and rocky hand-holds. He said the same thing in an interview that I thought about when I was doing it, that he wasn't worried about it until he got up there. The act of climbing like that is like a form of therapy, as dangerous as it is, and your brain actually shuts up for a second while you're doing it. But the reason? Probably many things, but I do know that he was going through the loss of a friend, Andy Wood, dealing with a lot of angst and depression. He still deals with it to this day, living in his bubble house in Seattle. He still hangs out with Andy's girlfriend, Xana, who lives down the road from him. They go grocery shopping together.

I saw them when they played their very first show at the Off Ramp in Seattle under their original name, Mookie Blalock, and Eddie has ALWAYS had that sound and energy. He's amazing even if you can't understand his lyrics half the time, lol. They didn't care about the theater and it's rules for safety or the microphones or the guitar oe anything, really. That was the attitude, the sound and the rock and roll. It was Seattle in the 90s and it was awesome! I miss it.

THAT was a great show! A gig I attend, rather than worked, for once. Watching these reaction videos, I’ve remembered and realize how fortunate I was was to be there and how freaking amazing that music was, is! BTW…. Eddie climbed to back wall of the balcony. The guys basically jammed for the 10 or so minutes it took him to get from the stage to his jumping off point. He was a climber 😃

It's live. Especially in the 90's, he was dead on. Alive is also.. live. His cover of Masters of War at the Bob Dylan anniversary show is probably as perfect as Vedder gets. Comparison: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j76Ud5R4mrKVZ6M.html

This wasn't live. It was a re-recorded version with Dave Abbruzzese. An alternate version of the song was recorded with drummer Dave Abbruzzese in 1992 while the band was recording songs for the soundtrack for the 1992 film, Singles.[5] This version was used for the music video,[6] and was used in single releases in the United Kingdom. This version can also be found on Pearl Jam's 2004 greatest hits album, rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991-2003). Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Even_Flow
