The reason why the audience screams so load and Onew cries during this performance of "Rainy Blue" is because this was Onew's first solo performance since having vocal surgery. It was a really scary surgery because there was no guarantee that he would ever be able to sing again, let along at the same quality as he did before the surgery. Onew spent about 3 months after his surgery not being able to speak at all in order to give his vocal cords time to heal and then he had to learn to sing all over again. This performance was proof to himself and the fans that he could still do it and that nothing had changed. This song was also super meaningful because the original Japanese songwriter had the same surgery as Onew and he was never able to sing again.The songwriter composed "Rainy Blue' after his surgery and the song is about how he felt now that he had to give up something that was so precious to him, etc. The song is kind of saying how the world around him kept moving forward while time stood still for him during his recovery because of how hard it was to deal with the fact that he might not be able to keep singing. Luckily Onew's surgery had a much better outcome and it seems to not have had much of an affect on his voice. Thank goodness because the world would be a much sadder place if we could no longer hear Onew's beautiful voice. :D

Shinee means a lot to me they make me so happy, Jonghyun is my ult bias and I miss him so much he made me so happy when I was in a sadder time I’m so sad that’s he’s gone. When he first passed I was so sad I couldn’t listen to his music or shinee’s music. Of course I slowly got better I could listen to Shinee’s music but not Jonghyun but as time went by I could listen to Jonghyun’s music without crying. Of course I have off days where I can’t listen to Jonghyun’s music without crying but most times I can just enjoy Jonghyun’s music and think about how talented this boy is.

Have you seen Onew doing opera? You should. He actually had vocal polyps surgery mid-2014, with the threat of never singing again hanging over his head. That Rainy Blue song was originally by a Japanese singer who underwent the same surgery. The performance was during their first Dome concert a few months after the surgery.

Honestly, Jonghyun’s vocals are no joke. He was truly, in my eyes, a beautiful and talented human being. I regret not being able to stan SHINee in his time being here, yet I’m glad that he left beautiful memories that were captured in photos, videos, and audios.... I can’t dislike any of his songs (like when you say that you like one better than the other) because all of them are truly beautiful. His voice is such a gift to our ears... thank you Jonghyun for existing and for sharing with us such talent! 🥺❤️

The emotion from "Rainy Blue" is so much more when you understand the story behind it. Onew had to have vocal surgery and had to reman silent during his recovery then retrain his voice and he was worried that he wouldn't be able to perform in the same way. "Rainy Blue" was his first solo stage when he was finally allowed to perform again. It's a cover of a song by Hideaki Tokunaga. Jonghyun is one of the best vocalists in kpop. I don't think this compilation does him justice. I'd highly recommend watching some of his performances of She Is and Deja Boo (I'd highly recommend the radio station ones and from Yoo Heeyeol's Sketchbook as they are live vocals but you probably can't use them for reactions). But you can definitely react to his live performance of Y Si Fuera Ella (Hyeya)! It shows how he was a true performer. All the members but Taemin are currently in the military so we are on temporary Shinee hiatus and would love you to keep reacting to Shinee! It helps with the wait!

I'm so happy that it's SHINee they are my ultimate group. They are called the princes of kpop for a good reason. Jonghyun was such a powerhouse vocalist with such a unique tone. He was able to hold such crazy long notes. I haven't come across anyone that could hold a note for as long as him. SHINee in general are amazing. Key and Minho are both rappers but can comfortably transition to vocalists if that's what the song needs. Onew has such a powerful voice that he doesn't always need the mic close to him to be heard. Taemin the adorable but evil Maknae(youngest) is an incredible singer thanks to Jonghyun helping him to reach his full potential. I love how he went from not getting many lines cause he wasn't as amazing as he is now, to getting lots of lines. STAN SHINee THEY ARE LEGENDS.

When Onew sang Rainy Blue, yes he did cry. It was the first time he had been able to really sing after having to have surgery on his vocal chords. It was unsure that he would be able to sing again so for him, it was an emotional moment. His voice is so amazing, he has improved so much over time. He is currently doing his compulsory military service so we are all waiting for him to come back. He also holds the record amongst Kpop idols for the longest held note - I think they ended up cutting the video off! Lol. Our Jonghyun was an amazingly talented man, an incredible songwriter and vocalist. Losing him was the most tragic thing. There will never be another one like him.

Btw shinee made a Tribute Song to jonghyun called Our Page (i think) and they Tell him 'you did well'. I honestly bawled my eyes out The First time... 😭

Shinee means soo much to me. I am an extreme introvert and have suffered from severe depression my entire life and their music has been my happy place for years. I can be having one of those "I hate the world." or "People suck" kinda days. I come in and turn on their music in my room. Instant happy. When Jonghyun passed. It wrecked me for a good year. I love shinee. they got me into kpop in 2010 when I was 10, and I never got out of kpop sonce then. Jonghyun was my ult bias. I absolutely lovved his personality and vocals and their music helped out when I was struggling with emotions. When I turned 18, it was a very important day for me since in my culture, 18th birthday marks you being a woman (like sweet 16). Thats on Dec 17. So waking up on Dec 18, 2017, I was devasted hearing the news of his passing. I literally couldnt breathe and was so upset. Then when his Poet|Artist album came out along with the Shinin MV, the tears really started to flow and I listened to that album probably everyday for half a year. I read the lyrics, memorized the songs. It was weird having Shinee comeback without hearing Jong's voice yet I really appreciated that Shinee continues to make music. My birthdays since then have always been bittersweet, yet taking the 17th and 18th of that month to listen to his album to remember him is something that lifts my spirits up. I'm so glad people still recognize his talent even until now. 💖 He did so so well.

Also, SHINee IS STILL HERE. They released an album after 2017. And they made it a point to clarify that THEY WILL CONTINUE AS SHINee, and AS FIVE. For now, 3 of the members are doing military service, Taemin is busy solo and with SuperM. But SHINee members in the military be coming back this year.
