Emma Thompson was in a production of Sweeney Todd way back in 2014-2015. As we all know Stephen Sondheim music isn’t the easiest to perform especially if you’re singing lead. However I thought Emma as Mrs. Lovett was awesome and you could tell she was funny, energetic, and loving her part‼️

Yes she can sing. She was Mrs Potts in the live action Beauty and the Beast as well as staring in multiple musicals including Sweeney Todd and a Tony winning version of Me and My Girl

Yeah. She was Mrs Potts in the Live Action movie adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. She was also the voice of Queen Elinor from Disney x Pixar’s Brave. She’s also been in: Sweeny Todd, Me and My Girl, Much Ado About Nothing and A MidSummer Night’s Dream.

Emma Thompson is so fabulous in this role, I was hoping she'd be nominated for an Oscar. Really. Her best song, though, is Smell of Rebellion. Overall, a great movie!

And to think, they were originally going to get Ralph Fiennes to play the part. (Context, a male usually plays the role in the stage version.) But yes, Emma Thompson is an amazing singer, and actress. (See her Mrs Lovett or Mrs Potts.)

If you want to throw the hammer for ur Country U have to stay inside the circle all the timeeee And if u want to teach success You dont use sympathy or tenderness (TeNdErNeSs) You have to force the little squits to tow the line Sing, Jenny! 2,3,4! If you want to throw the hammer for ur Country (Babanatum est maggitum) You have to stay inside the circle all the time! She did a fabulous take on Mrs. Lovett in a concert staging of Sweeney Todd. Her costar was actually Brynn Terfel the opera singer. It was a fantastic production that aired on PBS. Sadly, it is not available anywhere online to watch. That was actually where I found out she could sing.
