She is just flat out one of the best singers/performers in the world. Flawless! Why she isn't performing on every awards show is beyond me I wish someone would hand her a hit movie song. She deserves so much many more accolades and much much more recognition.

@@timjester8555 while i love creep for vocal prowess showcasing i agree that i prefer as song in general seven nation army cause of the arangement because they take that song and make it into a 1930s style torch jazzy song/ New Orleans dirge same like here where while Morgan James is amazing vocaly i have to give huge credit to the guy in piano who made the arangement as in all pmj songs

Morgan is absolutely one of my top three female singers. She's so versatile, from Broadway to the American Songbook. She can sing opera and soul with a quite a few originals that are so emotional and soulful.

Mike - I felt exactly the same way when I heard this version. I heard the song when it first came out and it never really "hit" me. Now that I'm older, those lyrics and her performance strikes an emotional pitch that drives straight into your heart.

Morgan James is a Juliard graduate opera singer with the soul of Bessie Smith. The way she tunes chords is amazing. I just wish she did more good, old fashioned blues.

Appreciate you reacting to Morgan. She's on my playlist ("Human") as is Haley and one of the early early performers Niia. I see you sampled Floor Jansen who might be one of the best vocalists on the planet (IMO), though I am hardly a fan of her work with Nightwish (Pink Floyd being the last symphonic rock/metal bands.) But I was blown away on her performances on the Dutch show "Beste Zangers" where she brought the audience to tears with some of her performances. So, since you are a teacher and enjoy deconstructing vocal styles, I'm rather surprised fans of the young Russian contralto Diana Ankudinova haven't been pestering you to death to react to her vocal style. In addition to the unique tone of Diana, her stage presence, like Morgan in this one, is outstanding for someone in their mid teens. I'm not a big backstory person (a pet peeve because it doesn't define talent, just experience - dedication, hard work and a wonderful instrument defines talent. If you are at all intrigued, you might start with her French cover of "Derniere Danse" or the Russian folk song, "Rechenka" where character stays in character. Oh, and that vocal tone can stir one's endorphins into overdrive. I hear you, I do. I love PMJ, and I love many of the artists involved. But Morgan James isn't just enjoyable, she's freaking phenomenal. Listen, she has a "Quarantunes" playlist on her channel. Her husband accompanies her, with guitar and sometimes vocals. Treat yourself, sir, and thank you for a great reaction.

This is absolutely brilliant. I see you've recently reacted to Radiohead's Creep. You should React to Haley Reinhart's stellar version of Creep with PMJ, a real vocal "tour de force" by a totally unique singer. A huge contrast to the Radiohead version, needless to say. It's also by far the most watched of all PMJ's videos.

The first time I heard this cover I just couldn't get Steven Tyler's voice out of my head. It wasn't until I listened for the third time that I could truly appreciate Morgan's cover. Now I'm like, "Steve who??? Oh, isn't he that guy that covers Dream On?" JK of course, no disrespect to Steven at all. Morgan studied opera at Julliard and has played on Broadway. I really appreciate the way you explain what is going on...i can sing but i dont know how it happens. What are the chances of getting you to react to "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains...the unplugged live "Nutshell" from the mtv unplugged series is the one to get...Layne Staley and AIC were one of Grunge Musics biggest bands in the 90s, AIC also has a recording called Jar of Flies...not quite a record some said but we would practice absolute silence for the duration of the album...my friend was an AIC Freak. ok ok one for the road "Long Gone Day" is a song for the netflix and chill "smooth operator"...Sade Vibe and such.

I think the vocalist Jari Maenpaa would suprise you in many ways. (Both clean and brutal vocal techniques) Here is, a request from a guy who loves good music as you. In these days of autotuned & quantised pop/pap, knowing there are still musicians out there who can build a successful career out of 1-take recordings, recorded live, in the room, with NO overdubs, no punch-ins, no studio trickery... Scott Bradlee & his collaborators are a bastion of musical talent in the modern musical morass of mediocrity...

you cant teach natural talent,you cant teach someone to lift the heavest weight/or run the fastest mile or be a fantastic singer ,you can either do it or not !!!!!!!!
