This week on Authentic, Shawn gets to the heart of what exactly "inspired by God" means when it comes to Scripture-writing it, compiling it, interpreting it. And what about all those "extra" books of the Apocrypha? Are they Scripture? Join us for part 2 of our series on how the Bible came to be.

About Authentic:
Host Shawn Boonstra makes it easy to understand how philosophy and biblical principles can help you live an authentic life in the 21st century.
We talk about real existential questions-stuff that everybody wonders about: the meaning of life, purposeful living, the nature of human existence, the thoughts of great philosophers and how those have impacted our culture and how we live-the nature of love, relationships, emotions, self-awareness . . . But most of all, we explore what it means to live an authentic human existence.
New episodes on Saturdays. Watch on KZfaq and a growing list of North American TV networks and stations.

God's Bible is the best selling book of all time out of all books witch makes me see that there must be something extremely special & unique about God's Bible, like the wonderful fact the Bible has been inspired literally by God himself!!🙏😄😀

I like the fact that each session is only half an hour. I have time to listen to it as I’m working around the house, & I’m a steady listener. I love the 1 & 1/2 hour sermons, but have a hard time working them into my schedule. I loose the train of thought when I have to break them up into shorter listening sessions. 0:03

Thank you so much for putting this in a format that I can use. I find it helpful to watch more than once. The first time through I jot down the Bible references then the second time can focus on listening without having to repeatedly pausing as I write down a note. Again, thank you and everyone at VOP.

Thanks so much Pastor Shawn for sharing the truth.. I love how you read so much and share what you have read. I love history and the history you present is fascinating. I have grown to love god's word above all other things written. And I know your ministry is trying to do the same so that we fall in Love with God and His Word. Here is a beautiful quote from my favorite author outside the Bible: The word of the living God is not merely written, but spoken. The Bible is God's voice speaking to us, just as surely as though we could hear it with our ears. If we realized this, with what awe would we open God's word, and with what earnestness would we search its precepts! The reading and contemplation of the Scriptures would be regarded as an audience with the Infinite One.

I’ve concluded that the Bible is a natural phenomenon, just as is Earth and the heavens. We work diligently to discover and understand the natural world, and the Bible is an important part of that natural world. I’m amazed by it.

I really appreciate this Authentic series because even though I know and believe all these things from reading the Bible myself, I don’t often know how to share the Truth with others. So all these brilliant points and connections Pastor Boonstra pulls together really help.

You and I think alike, only you are much smarter than me and have a better command of communication than I do--which helps improve my ability to share the Word of God to my friends and family. I love how you're able to simplify (but in an intellectual way) how history supports the Scriptures and how the Bible fits themes together though written centuries apart. That really grabs my attention and I hope it helps me convey my passion about the Bible when I write or teach about it. I have to admit, your Revelation Speaks Peace seminar inspired me to expand on my own books with some of my notes from your presentations. I hope you don't mind--we're both in it to reach people with the message of salvation. And I do mention your name in my acknowledgements. I think how cool it is that you were inspired by George Vandeman. I got to meet him at a camp meeting, shortly after I was baptized.

"It is evident that our Lord used no more than our thirty-nine books of the Old Testament. His references in Luke XXIV: 44 and XI: 51 even suggest to scholars that He knew them exactly in the form in which they are still current among the Jews.* | *Catholic notes on Lk 11:51 _"From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias"_ refer to Gen 4:8 and II Paralipomenon (II Chron) 24:22. Now in the Hebrew Bibles, these books are respectively the first and the last, so that the effect is as if we were to say _"from Genesis to Malachi,"_ or for the whole Bible, _"from Genesis to Revelation."_ It appears a fair inference that the Jewish Scriptures were known to our Lord in the very order in which they are now printed." (Wm. T. Whitley in _"Roman Catholic and Protestant Bibles Compared,"_ edited by M.W. Jacobus, 2nd ed., pp. 40, 247. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1908.) Great videos VOP, thanks and Blessings!
