The thief on the cross argument. How did the thief know who Jesus was? Jesus didn't preach the gospel to him. He needs to go read Jesus' last 7 words. The thief was clearly catechized and could have been a fallen away disciple. He could have had the baptism of John and/or circumcised as a Jew that kept the old covenant. The thief knew Jesus was innocent and believed He was God. Explain to me how Bruce, if the thief had just met Jesus at the cross and the bible doesn't tell us that He preached the gospel to the thief. If you say that he heard Jesus quoting the Psalms then that thief was a Jew, was under the old covenant and was a circumcised Jew. If he was a pagan or Gentile he wouldn't have understood how Christ fulfills the Psalms. He probably wouldn't even have known what Jesus was saying. It's funny that he accuses us of cannibalism. That's exactly what the pagans, Romans and Jews accused the early church Christians of doing. He needs to read Justin Martyr's first apology. When it comes to Baptism I remember Acts chapter 2. Peter preaches a sermon at the 1st Pentecost, the crowd is moved and begins to ask, what do I need to do to be saved? Peter says "repent and be baptised". Doesn't sound like an optional extra, Peter doesn’t say "repent and get baptised if you want to..."

I’ve been reading the Didache. Scholars used to date it to the 2nd or 3rd century. New evidence places it somewhere between 50 to 70 AD. This means it’s composition would’ve aligned with Council of Jerusalem as well as The Gospels. It’s clear from the Eucharistic Prayers listed in there that Christians have believed in the Real Presence since the very beginning.

I’m Protestant and I’m appalled by how most Protestants seem to think the second sentence in Mark 16:16 overrides the first sentence. I’ve even had Calvinist tell me Mark 16:16 isn’t scripture but is part of a longer ending of Mark that was added and not part of the “older and more trustworthy manuscripts”! It’s sickening

A simple rule of logic called De Morgan's law is relevant for Mark 16:16. It states that Not (P and Q) is equivalent to (Not P) or (Not Q). Applying this to P being "believes" and Q being "baptized", we have that Not (to believe and be baptized) is equivalent to (Not believes) or (Not baptized). What Jesus said is a logical consequence. What Jesus could have said with equal validity, but did not need to say, is that "He who is not baptized will be damned." It's really a pretty simple point of logic. Jesus states two criteria for being saved, both of which must be met. If either one (such as believing) fails, you will be damned.

Not only does Jesus not clarify that he is speaking metaphorically in John 6, but the other metaphors that the guy mentioned do not have the same kind of intense typology pointing toward it. If we look at Melchizedek, Exodus 25 (Bread of the Real Presence), and Passover, we see that what Jesus is saying in John 6 is no mere metaphor. Jesus recalling the manna in the desert and calling his flesh the Bread of Life had great implications for Jewish people that calling himself a gate or a vine did not.

Bruce is a gnostic, he believes he has a special insight that overturns millennia of understanding, and he knows this insight to be true because he got a warm feeling in his chest when the idea popped into his head.

I think Protestants think Catholics mean "baptized with water" when we say baptized, when there has always been a baptism of desire and baptism of blood that are just as valid. Council of Trent says you need the sacraments "or the desire of them." That desire doesn't even need to be explicit, as "implicit baptism of desire" was an accepted Catholic view long before Vatican 2 (see Wharton Controversy in 1780s and Feeney Controversy in 1940s). Being baptized is Christ washing away your sin. He's not limited by water or other material elements, but you do need to desire Him to wash you clean of your sin.

As Christians we should PRAY for him & all the others. Especially during a rosery etc. Let's not do what they do & insult . We need to be humble like jesus... think about that (: with much love ❤️

I'm catholic, however, the church is made up of imperfect people who are sinners. No different than other organizations. That being said, I do not agree with everything the church says or teaches, especially on freemasonry. The masons are simply a fraternity, not a religion or a replacement for religion. Many non members are confused about masonry. I believe millions of masons will go to heaven. Masonry is symbolic in its teachings. You and others are taking some masonic rituals and symbols literally when its all symbolic. Non initiates will most likely not understand. Even God teaches us in symbolic terms at times, metaphors and such. Do not judge lest you be judged.

Protestants like to say: where is it in the Bible that you can do it?! But, they don't bother to show us where it is in the Bible that we can't do it. One day, I question a pastor where the Bible says that asking intercession to the saints in heaven is wrong. I question it because the Bible says that when can intercede to one another, but it does not present any restrictions for those who died and went to heaven. He didn't answer me and started to give me answers that his teachers installed in his mind.

25:46 Sorry, that would not morally compromise Jesus, the whole reason He even spoke in parables was so that people wouldn't understand, "Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them." 1 Peter 3:21 says that we are saved by baptism, NOT as a removal of dirt from the body. Not water baptism. But as an appeal to God for a good conscience.
