One of the best ways to hear Earl's high tenor is their cover, 'Queen in Five' it's absolutely amazing! If you want to be upset with another awesome bunch of fans you should try Home Free the fans are called Home Fries. Home Free leans toward country but can do any genre and wrote the song for Ubisofts new pirate game called, 'Skull and Bones'- and yes they are acappela!

As others have already commented, that bearded gentleman is Earl. He attended high school in the same class as Geoff and Layne and they started singing together way back then. Geoff said it was always funny to see the confusion on the faces of the audience as they tried to figure out why this big burly guy had the very high tenor voice, while the androgynous looking skinny guy with a sunken in chest was singing such low notes, LOL.

Earl is certainly a shock when you hear him for the first time!

When Earl retired from the group they did a wonderful version of "Heart of Life" and followed it up with "The Bones" reassuring their fans that VP would continue and survive and thrive even without the signature sound of Geoff and Earl playing off each other they had for 20+ years. Now they have become more experimental and the foundation is as strong as ever. Old to new I love it all, and every guest brings something unique and wonderful to the table. Never a dull moment.

Just beautiful music done by incredible vocalists. I feel so lucky to have found them! Try their Tennessee Whiskey, not to mention If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. You will love seeing Earl take the lead in Queen in 5 Minutes - he's great. We all went through the same feelings knowing that we couldn't hear all their songs! Earl Elkins Jr. Big beard is a past founding member who left the group in 2020. He was tenor 1 and Eli was tenor 2.

Earl is a high tenor, his voice reminds me a lot of Frankie Valli. :) Being a momma to 4 I totally understand, but thankfully I'm not a reactor and my kids are all adults. :)

Geoff has said in interviews when VP was touring that when people first heard and saw them, they were surprised Geoff is the bass and shocked that Earl is not. They had some fun with this, another instance of subverting expectations, with their cover of Elvira. No studio videos of it but several audience recorded videos. My favorite was in January 2020. Very funny! Btw, Home Free heard VP perform it on the Sing-Off tour. With his blessing, Tim Foust tweaked Geoff's arrangement for HF. They still perform it with audience participation, and even recorded a video of it with The Oakridge Boys.

lol, my initial impression when I first found VoicePlay was that Earl and Geoff accidentally got each other’s voice. Neither looks like they should sound like that. Find VoicePlay’s Queen in Five Minutes, Earl has a large chunk of that. He’s also strongly featured in Boy Bands in Five Minutes. As you move back into their older catalog, you’ll find plenty more, but those are two good ones to start with. Also: pay attention to the dancing in Boy Bands - there are some giggles along the way. 😊 Look at it this way….waiting until you can listen as a reaction may be a bit of a torment, but at least you won’t run out any time soon. When I first found them, I literally spent a whole weekend watching/listening to it all. Now I have to wait for each new drop like someone in a desert waiting for their monthly gulp of water.

Earl absolutely shocked me the first time I heard him sing those high tenor notes in that laser clarity voice. I love how Geoff looks like he should sound like Earl, and Earl looks like he should sound like Geoff. It shows that stereotypes of appearances simply don't work in music. You think high tenor, you imagine a waif of a man, elfin features, maybe long hair. (I'm just imagining Vinny Marchi at this point.) You think bass, you imagine... well, Bobby Bass, Eric Hollaway, Elliott Robinson... (Check out him with The Bass Gang singing "Mad World" for bass x5 goodness.
