One thing that absolutely makes my day is seeing the pure joy/excitement in people's eyes when they first experience Voiceplay and you sir have given me a big smile on my face as I sit watching this video. So excited to see what the next two songs you've chosen will be. None will be a wrong choice I'm sure.

Keep in mind, it's no longer "us" that are nice - but "we." You're one of us now. You can't resist. (This one was arranged/video by Layne Stein, the beatbox. Layne and Geoff are the two founding members of Voiceplay still performing together.... since 1997. Nothing like the magic of bass and drums that really understand each other!) J None, red jacket, you stopped to replay his high note - is currently singing BASS with the navy. Range!

Oh yes, they are still making music! VoicePlay and Geoff are both very much active, putting out approximately one song per month. I think what you're thinking of is that J. None- the gentleman in the red jacket- left the group a couple years back to sing with the US Navy. However he still features with the whenever he's able... like in this song! Cesar, the fellow to the left of J. with the breathy baritenor and fantastic hair, joined shortly after J. left the group. But Layne (he beatboxer) and Geoff are both original members of the group (since 1997!) and Eli (rhymes with jelly, he's the bald rock tenor) has been with the group for more than 10 years. Every single one of these guys is absolutely amazing, and they are also some of the most genuinely kind and funny people you could ever hope to encounter. One of their videos, a cover of the Halo Theme (seriously, a must-hear even if you're not a gamer) has a bit at the end that is very illustrative of the kind of people they are. And occasionally they will tack on a peek behind the scenes while the Patreon credits roll on their videos, where you can not only see them goofing around, but it also gives you a glimpse at how hard these fellas work when you see it's more or less just them doing *everything*. As much as I adore them, I also really, really respect them and their work ethic.

YES!! We can all feel it in the air after Voiceplay "brought it" with this cover. Voiceplay has such a wide variety to choose from in their collection. It is a blast to see them perform in so many ways. Nothing Else Matters by Metallic is a masterpiece and Hall of the Mountain King is an orchestral piece done all acapella. Excited to share this journey with you.

Great reaction! You really give it all. You can relax, they are still making music. They have been for 27 years. Isn't it fantastic that a song can be so far from the original and yet so close? I think it's brilliant.

I have to say, I completely understand your confusion about 'voice play'. I discovered them a little over two years ago when I was searching for different versions of the Beatles classic 'Eleanor Rigby'. I clicked on one that was labelled VoicePlay, and I honestly thought that simply meant someone had put together a presentation of different songs to create a musical story, or 'a voice play'. And I was already enjoying it immensely, but when I heard Geoff's first solo line, I swear my jaw dropped to the floor...and honestly he wasn't even singing nearly as low as he usually does, but that unique blend of deep but smooth voice immediately drew me in. At the end of the video, when the different suggestions popped up, I finally realized that the group was named VoicePlay and I started watching some of their other videos, but I still didn't yet comprehend that they were doing it all with their voices and no instrumention until later, LOL! And then, of course, I had to start watching Geoff's solo stuff as well. About the hardest thing when you are a new VoicePlay fan is trying to figure out who is who since they've been down at least one member since 2020 (hence why you usually see a 'featured' performer listed in the title of the video. And even that confuses people since J None left the group to join the navy, so in some videos he's just part of the group and in the newer ones he'll be listed as the featured performer. Again, enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole. A lot of us are hoping that J comes back as a full-time member eventually, because the grouping of Geoff, Layne, Eli, Cesar and J None is just spectacular!

Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole! These gentlemen are known as "the Theater Kids of Acapella" and they live up to the name. They have been together since 1997, with only two original members remaining. Overall the group is currently as follows: ~ Eli (pronounced El-e) Jacobson - INCREDIBLE Tenor (that can also sing bass), also does most lighting for videos. In addition, he does arrange from time to time. Not OG member but has been in the band since 2010. He WILL blow your mind. You've been warned. ~ Cesar De La Rosa - Baritone/Tenor 2, entertainer extraordinar. He works with many other bands (both in and out of Disney in Orlando) so he is always busy when not with Voiceplay. His acting and how he fits into every role is incredible. His voice has character, range and versatility, but naturally his voice is butter soft. “Took” J.None’s spot when he went to the Navy in 2021. ~ Geoff (pronounced Jeff) Castellucci - Bass, Most arrangements, some production, sound editing, costume design, musician, animal whisperer, chef (not joking, he's ridiculous), stupidly talented human. You already know his INCREDIBLE solo channel (which both Layne and Eli assist with videos for from time to time). His beautiful wife Kathy is also a big part of what makes Voiceplay and especially his solo channel, so incredible, you will see her names in credits as well and she's always BTS. Geoff is one of two remaining OG members, circa 1997. ~ Layne Stein - Vocal Percussion, Baritone and Bass backup, plays most of the instruments (as does Geoff) and splits most arranging with Geoff (and some Eli). Owns Pattycake Studios (they also have a channel!) with another former Voiceplay member, (Tony Wakim). Lots of the music videos are shot at Pattycake (and much of Geoff’s solo stuff). So funny, so sweet, so unbelievably talented. Two of two remaining OG members, circa 1997. ~ J.None - former member/active collaborator, basically part time (and we all hope returning full time some day). Joined in 2018 and left for the Navy Band in 2021, but has hinted at coming back not being out of the question. Hilarious human, especially when you get him and Layne together 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕(

VoicePlay are wonderful people and his fans follow suit. Lots of things in this point back to the 80s when the original song came out. The guy in the red jacket is J.None, who was a full member of VoicePlay for some years and can be seen in earlier videos, but also as a guest artist since he left to sing with the navy in 2021. He comes back when on leave from his duties.

This is behind the Oviedo Mall where Layne Stein beatboxer and former member Tony Wakim have their PattyCake Productions Studio. J. None is a former member who joined the Navy in 2021 but comes back often.

Check the credits, they will show who did the arrangement, video, production, costume, makeup plan, story board and first mix. And that's usually the same person, Geoff, Layne, or Eli. They record separately, the arranger does all the prep work, final mix is done by Ed Boyer, who also works with Home Free and Pentatonix. When the vocal is done, they do the video shoot in one day. They are awesome!

They are indeed still together as far as recommendations go...just pick your favorite genre and enjoy. Voiceplay never disappoints. There are too many to pick from and they release new ones regularly.

VP are still making music.. The man in the red Jacket is J. None and was a permanent member of VP until fairly recently when he joined the Navy. He still comes back to feature when he can. Welcome to the Deep Dive into VoicePlay! There are so many songs and of different genres of music that they have done. If you want to continue with '80's rock music they have done Carry On Wayward Son, Running Up That Hill w/ Ashley Diane, Dream On w/ Omar Cardona and so much more. They have Disney songs like We Don't Talk About Bruno, Hellfire (which blew our minds). They also have Broadway stuff. Geoff arranged a Wicked Medley and its outstanding! They did songs from The Greatest Showman. Yeah, I'm obsessed!😅 I hope you enjoy your musical journey with VoicePlay and the rest of us will enjoy watching you do it!

They have been making music since before 1997, for Geoff and Layne (beatboxer but started as the baritone until Scott Porter left for an acting career when Layne took over that role) since middle and high school. The original group was 4:2:Five since they had 4 people and brought on a 5th. Earl (high tenor) was also an original member but left for personal reasons about 3 yrs ago. You can hear him in a lot of the older videos. Eli (like jelly) the bald tenor went to a different school but their choruses competed so they knew each other. Eli started in a couple of rock bands, but in 2010 he joined VoicePlay. J None replaced Tony Wakim (VP baritone who wanted to do productions so Layne and Tony bought a studio where much of Geoff's soloes and VoicePlay do their videos). That was fine until the US Navy recruited J None for the Navy chorus nearly 3 yrs ago for a 5 yr stint. He comes back as often as possible. Cesar is the newest member with a great range as a baritone/tenor. With only 4 members right now, Cesar can go low or high and gives them a lot of flexibility for the 5th vocalist.

J.None the one in the red jacket isn’t with them anymore. He left to sing with the Navy but he comes back and sings when he can. The lineup has changed several times over the years but Layne the beatboxer on the far left and Geoff have been together since middle school. Cesar the one next to Layne is the newest member of the group and Eli is the rock god with the beard next to Geoff has been with the group for a long time. They release a new video every month same as Geoff. They also release minis short versions of songs be sure you check those out even if you don’t react.

No worries there still together and releasing videos about one a month, unless you count their shorts/mini's then a few/couple a month. They were asked by Chicago to be one of the opening acts last Nov in New Jersey. Amazing. When you have time google Voiceplay Partwork and have fun. They are Theater Kids" and with this group you get the whole package.

They're still making music! The group members have changed some over the years, and you can always find the names of the people in the video in their description, and you can also find info there that tells you about the people involved in the creative process.

Just for giggles (and there are plenty of shenanigans going on even in the descriptions ) check out the little fun things they put over their Patreon roll.... it could be a bit of a bts, a remix or a snippet of the karaoke track they make for their Patreon supporters or even a heartfelt or goofy message. *One thing these guys never are is (old and 😉 GC fans) boring in their society.

VoicePlay are known as the The Theater Kids of a cappella. Well, they WERE born out of the musical shows at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL. Some good examples of this are the group's video for The Phantom of the Opera and their videos This is Halloween, What's This?, Kidnap the Sandy Claws, and Oogie Boogie's Song, plus Geoff Castellucci's Jack's Lament all from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. A couple really funny numbers that were performed live on stage are The Chicken Song and Road Trip. And because those two are live you're going to find at least two slightly different versions of each, from the different venues.

That guy in the red coat (J None) that impressed you with his high note...believe it or not, he sings BASS with the Navy's premier vocal group the Sea Chanters. 🙂

Who else could take a boring repetitious song & make every repetition exciting. Only Voice Play can. These guys really understand music theory, especially Geoff & Layne ( beatboxer ) who take turns in doing the arrangements. Whoever does the arrangement is in control of the entire video. They all have an input but whoever does the arrangement has the final say in everything.

Love your enthusiasm. FYI: Since you have kids, Voice Play (VP) performs many Disney songs/medleys too. They'll try almost any genre. You'll probably like Hellfire, from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, where Geoff really shows off his 5-octave range. There are just so many good renditions, it's hard to mention them all here; except to send you to their page and scroll around.

This was amazing! So glad you loved it! That was so much fun! Now i’m sure ppl have already mentioned but as you go through VP’s songs be prepared to see a lot of different faces. They often feature different artists and have had the some changes to the group line up over the years. But everyone in the community is always super helpful with laying out who’s who. Last thing is that VoicePlay loves to put out very theatrical videos. The whole nine yards, makeup, set, lighting, costumes. They are called the theatre kids of acappella for a reason. Ah, THIS is your first foray into the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole! This is a great one to start with. This is my favorite line-up of Voiceplay, but they don't have a bad one.
