Funny how he had to basically explain what low-range as if it's something new - well, maybe for VW, they realised that a ute needs one. Kudos to them though, for making a V6 with a manual box and low-range. I think that's an awesome package!

They’ve always had manuals with low range. They were released initially as manual only, with low range before they had auto’s without it.

What we have always asked for is the low range transfer case with the auto. Had they made that combination I probably would have one already. I like manuals but off road in rocky country, auto low range works the best.

So is this part time 4WD and only 4WD on loose surfaces or does it have a centre diff?
@Drivecomau
@Drivecomau 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike - this is a traditional 4WD system. The car runs RWD until high/low range is engaged via the torsen center dif. Further you can lock the rear differential for even more control.
@THEROADSMITH
@THEROADSMITH 4 жыл бұрын
CarAdvice.com Are you sure it has a centre diff?
@mikewasowski1411

Bill Collins indeed. If it had a centre diff why not run permanent 4wd like almost all other 4wds with centre diffs?
@Christoph1888
@Christoph1888 4 жыл бұрын
@@Drivecomau Transfer case with centre diff? Isn't that an oxymoron.. I'm guessing the torson has been replaced with the transfer case. You generally only need a centre diff if you plan on driving in 4wd on high traction surfaces.

I wish my Ford Ranger had a centre diff. Its my main gripe. Even upper models of Triton get one. I do rate having one especially on wet roads with no load.
@Exodos1234
@Exodos1234 4 жыл бұрын
Automatic Amarok is having the advantage of permanent 4wd so more security in slippery roads. You can't engage 4wd in manual when doing 120-130km/h it's only Rwd...
@andre899

Exodus D esp can solve this problem, but this traction is a lot better in off-road.

If you have trouble driving a rwd safely you shouldn't be driving at all
@Exodos1234
@Exodos1234 4 жыл бұрын
@@tcmx712 I drive more cars and bikes than you can imagine. Perhaps you shouldn't play it smart. I have driven both auto and manual this model and previous model too also other makes too. If you have a family doing trips with your car you consider everything plus road conditions are not good in all countries, also should be noted Amarok has no rear airbags... That also matters if it happens to have kids in the back. It is not a RWD sports car, it is a tall vehicle with light rear...
@Exodos1234
@Exodos1234 4 жыл бұрын
@@andre899 Sure esp helps a lot but it cannot overcome physics, also proper off road tires make a huge difference and give auto Amarok extra abilities. Surely if you want mostly off-road then go for the manual (even though it is a rather short UTE for purely off-road driving), if you need an all around UTE go for the auto, safer and more convenient.
@andre899
@andre899 4 жыл бұрын
Exodus D I think that the 4motion system also cannot overcome physics, it depends more the way you drive. I never have an issue driving a rwd. For sure off-road tires are welcome. For me the ideal is the automatic transmission with low range traction. That I don’t find in the amarok, but any other pick-up have this option.

Why anyone would ever want leather in a car idk... yay cloth seats
@148Reaper
@148Reaper 4 жыл бұрын
I thought the same, my previous amarok has cloth seats with neoprene covers which was awesome, my new v6 came with leather which i didn't really want, but if you spray and wipe them like once a month and have a tint and use a windscreen shade when parked up, then they actually are quite nice, they arent hot or sweaty and stay looking good, mud oil grease all pretty much clean off with no effort.
@klavier285
@klavier285 4 жыл бұрын
The car I have now has leather seats and I have to say they're overrated. I'd rather just have cloth seats, with leather you have to worry about them drying out or wrinkling which results in them looking like crap. With cloth seats I didn't have to worry about anything other than animal hair clinging to the fabric.
