Stop driving it in winter mode when you don’t need to... it wreck your trans. Winter mode locks your trans to 3rd gear
@tedbrookins4 жыл бұрын
Hi. Winter mode should not be used often. That's why it switches off after every drive. It starts in 3rd gear to reduce torque to help accelerate in slippery conditions. It should actually be called "Snow/ice" mode. Do not drive on non wintry roads and lug the engine to accelerate. You may overheat and damage the transmission.

@@matteo_syd7271 buying a car new does not mean anything if you do not maintain it. If you went and bought a new car, but never changed the oil, you're going to have issues. It's the same with transmission fluids, tires, brakes, etc. Everything on a car needs to be maintained and some people sont factor that into the cost of a car. Then they go and buy a car they cant afford to maintain and come to youtube to say it's the manufacturers fault. I currently have a friend that has one like this car (2006 S40 T5 AWD M66 manual), and he is pushing 25lbs lg boost reliably. Now what this changes though is he has to add oil every other gas fill up. You can make any car (except for some German cars) reliable if you just maintain the vehicle. EDIT: my friends car now has 260,000 miles on the car. It has been drop dead reliable for him. It has never left him stranded.

This is just the result of not done maintenance to the car! Winter mode uses 3rd gear to start from stop, that is why it is so slow. The transmission should be properly serviced and the stock selenoids at the transmission's valve body should be swapped against Rostra ones. Your car is just a car that never has been serviced correctly.

@davida6146 Жыл бұрын
@@desmondlouis5762 In terms of reliability, this car will never leave you stranded, unless you're a complete negligent car owner in general. However, a common issue with this model is the leaky tub that passes from the sunroof down to the side panel frames of the front passenger and driver's doors. Because of this, I had to tear open the carpet and suck the water out. I've made a modification of drilling a more easily accessible hole for the tubing, which in my opinion is much less stressful to worry about now. So far this leak issue is gone. With that said, that's been my only legitimate complaint. Every car will have it's issues, but from previous cars I've owned, Volvo is so much easier to care for because you don't have to worry as much about it. The only other thing is the spark plugs - having to change them requires a bit of work (compared to my previous car, an Audi A4). But sure beats the headache of having to connect the audi to the OBD computer every second weekend.

So it is really unfair to make a video of absolutely abused car that have never seen fresh oil or any maintenance and tell that it is bad or worst car to buy.
