This Volvo V50 2.0D came to me as a non runner.
It happened after an attempt to start the car with a low battery...
A quick scan revealed the code C326 on the engine ECU.
And live data on the CEM revealed that the immo sync was lost...
So, follow me on this video to find out what was the problem and how to resolve it.

Well done for doing this, it's a very common fault but only on the 2.0 ltr. It can be done much easier with Volvo Vida takes about 2 mins to reload ECM software via OBD port.

LM Auto Repairs if you do a few Volvos then the subscription isn’t too bad. A genuine Dice is about £260 and subscription about £12 a day.

You will need a subscription with volvo to do that... Press the software tab at the top, and follow the procedures... 👍👍👍

I've got a 2004 v70 petrol and sometimes it starts and all the dials work and sometimes they don't! Very annoying! Have to make sure I don't run out of petrol! Thanks for the videos

Hi,I am having problem with my volvo v60 2.0 diesel.Just had engine fitted.Engine was running perfect but the car had problem ie no power steering,no windows no central locking wipers goes off when engine running,i just reset the codes while the car engine was running and as soon i press cleared engine stoped and now i can not start the engine it just shows ignition on and no other lights in dashboard also it shows battery save low mode etc.Can you help me what it is please thanks

Hey buddy please I have 2007 Volvo XC90 and v8 it start normal when engine cold but after u drive for a while and u pack it shut the engine off it will not star not even crank and it says on the message that starts is preventing when I scanned it,it’s says immobilized or communicate but it will starts when it cools down please do u have any idea

Great videos. Thank you very much. I am a beginner DIY. I own a Volvo S40 2.0d and the car immobilized. This was after it had an airlock and the mechanic cracked it repeatedly until it wrote immobilizer see manual. Tried several mechanics and nothing was fixed. Until one recommend to buy a new lock set (ecm, cem, slc and scu) and when these were fitted still same problem. I'm now stuck in this problem for 3 years now. On a scanner it shows an CAN communication error (c1022, p100-09). Honestly I am desperate and don't know how to get this car fixed. I need your troubleshooting advice. Thank you.

PRobably a CAN termination error. Have you neasured the resistance on the can bus? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7GehKxjrrnHgIk.html Might have some hints.

I've done one of these re-syncs in a similar way to you in the past, but now I just send them to the Volvo dealer, they charge 1 hours labour and can reflash the CEM/PCM with Vida online, and not have to open a single module. They literally do it in 15 minutes. I guess someone with a VIDA DiCE subscription account could do the same. It is a really common fault, if you try and start one with a flat battery 50% of the time they do this, it's a crap design.

I've just had my what we believed was a faulty ECU on a Volvo 2.0 D3 2010 (Car only running on 2 Cylinders) cloned by a company, Cloned ECU put into car and car started and ran fine, next day though the car would not start with immobiliser/ABS fault put the old ECU back in and the car starts but still has the fault with injectors. When you have an ECU cloned do it still need to synced separately to the CEM? TIA

Hi If all the data was transferred from the original ecu, the immo data etc should have been transferred along... and as you said, car started first.... something else must have happened... get it synched again, and go from there... Thank you for watching!

Hello, Thanks a lot for the great illustration and repairs video. I have a 2002 Volvo S80 2.9 litres car of which I lost the start key for some years now. I decided to keep it in the garage till i get a good and competent programmer to reprogram a new key for it. Unfortunately, the one who worked on it took away the original CEM and the uncoded key for the programming, then came and fixed it back, but the Dashboard signals and lights were all gone with nothing working. Not even the window glasses. The only signal on the Dashboard was the "Check Engine". The car couldn't start neither. I tried another programmer who later also destroyed the traces on the motherboard for the main CHIP when he tried to read the code. I got mad and took the key and CEM back. I'm totally confused and wish you could advise and help me out. Is there any way I could send some pictures of the car and the destroyed traces in the CEM? So that you see clearly what I mean. Thanks again.

You can either repair the cem, or get another one and clone it... Get a blank key and program it. There is not much more options... Thank you for watching!

Hi, I am new to this. Struggle to understand connections - I see that you use two different connections. I use Carprog, having A10 connector pinout and cant find XCLKS and EXTAL pinout.

Did you solve this? I´m gonna try this myself this weekend. From the info I got there is only 4 connections that needs to be made with carprog A10 (BKGD, GND, RESET and Vdd) I´m happy for any pointers.

K-tag will not read BCM modes... is only for engine ecu... You can remove the chip, or do it like I did... Thank you for watching!

Good Video! But i give advise: when work with Xprog on security Motorola always uncheck verify option in menu. Only read without verify. Xprog can easy damage flash from Motorola. Which soft ard you use to resinc dumps? Thanks.

@@LMAutoRepairs Yes, I also never had problems with Sec. Motorola, but i made this steps: 1) read eeprom without verification; 2) write prepared eeprom without verification; 3) read again eeprom without verification; 4) compare dumps from p.2 and p.3 in any hex editor. Finish.

Hi! I have a Volvo v50 2.0 Tdi 2005 I have the same error on my dash but not all the time. I’m not using the car every day just 1,2 times / week so sometimes when I’m starting it doesn’t have any errors but after 10 min driving they’re coming on and the car is going on the limp mode. Hi I’m having this exact same issue with my s40. I noticed one of the codes they had was for the stop lamp switch, did this happen when the computer lost sync? My issue is identical to this, but the brake lights are also staying on when you connect the battery. Did theirs do this too?

Ah... OK... I would scan the car first... there is a few modules that make part on the immobiliser system on this cars... You can have the lost sync problem, which can happen with the CEM, with the ABS, etc... or you can have a failed module... 👍👍👍

@@LMAutoRepairs I have to clone a CEM but I see processor are different. Old one - MC9S12XDT384MAL / 1L15Y / QMZXW1625F Newone- MC9S12XDT256MAL / 1L15Y / QQGG0820 Do you think clone is possible? In X-PROG 5.55 I see XDT384 with XD256 (can't find XDT256) is different read option but connection diagram is the same.

Some of this chips they share the same connections, a but of googling (lol) and you will find the info... Since they have the same mask, I would say it will work... The only if, is the flash size... As your old one is bigger than the new one, but might be that the capacity is not all in use, and the data will fit on the 256kb of the new one... 🤞

There is a small program to do it... I believe is called volvo sync... I haven't used it for ages...😊 👍👍👍

Hello, i have same problem with my Volvo v50 2.0d 136hp. 2008y. I was read ECU file with k-tag, but cant read eeprom chip from CEM module. I have Carprog programmer and was connected it with a10 connector, but on MCU selection table i have no 1L15Y chip model. I tryed to read it with other model, but after reading i se only CA FE CA FE. when i put file in volvo synch 2.3, i see BAD FILE message. Please if is possible help me. Thanks

You need a programmer that can read the MCU on the CEM... There is nothing I can do... X-prog among others can do it... Thank you for watching!

Thanks for everyone, I resolved my problem with the car. I was read my MCU from CEM module under different mask with carprog program and synchronised with Volvo synch program. After uploading to ECU,the car started, I’m very happy and very very thanks to LM AUTO REPAIRS for the video. If anyone needs from help, I can send him the program for CEM-ECU synchronisation for Volvo. Thanks for attention.

I have similar issue now but cem one of connection was almost falling off pushed it back in place. next morning several error vanished allowing me to crank the engine which would not do .boy said 1st engine oil low light come on so topped up drove off alittle while later brake fluid low light turned off wipers were on wouldn't stop even with key removed .noticed engine oil leaked out .towed car home .reset connector oil issue another fault .in morning came up with immobiliser fault see manual. Anti skid been on 2 years but sensor faulty left it like that cars abs works fine wanted 600 remove the unit with sensor inside it replace unit with one with sensor outside the unit modification. Couldn't afford it cars been through 2 or 3 mot with light on .only issue now is immobiliser problem and oil issue hopefully just oil filter or some thing loose. Had oil change 2 months ago engine bay steam cleaned god knows if they related. Good video a little to complex for me at my age dont have patience or tools to have ago .

@@LMAutoRepairs boys admitted hitting pot hole hopefully that's reason why oil leaking hope hasn't put hole in the sump like I say to old to get under car remover under engine covering .I know just few clips holding it on ,if other issue immobiliser is like yours might as well let experts do it .thank you for the reply I've hit like ,subscribe as well .

@@LMAutoRepairs got sorted just oil switch bust .and connector had come lose causing crazy errors popping up on control module 🙂 some one with big feet kicking it as they sat in passenger seat as no cover over it must flicked the lever that holds it in .

Just out of curiosity, nice job of repairing the immo data this way, but would had not be alot easier and more save to do a reload of the ecm software with the volvo vida software. You have a autel j2534 pass thru vci. Only thing you need is a subscription in the volvo pass thru website. Then you could have done all this in less than 30 min through the eobd plug.

Reload the ECM software doesn't solve the problem. I have the exact same problem in the workshop right now and I have tried to reload the ECM software with Vida ... unfortunatelly it still won't start ... tomorrow I'll try to reload the new software in CEM, maybe then will work?

I am pretty sure Vida does the synchronisation on these... not sure if you need to be online though... 👍👍👍

I'm impressed and I would never be able to attempt this... but I'm wondering what Volvo would have done? I mean Volvo would not open up the Sem(?) and the engine ECU like you did..and solder connect wires... so would Volvo have been able to do all of this with plug on connectors?

Volvo just do an online ECM software reload and it all sync automatically. 2 mins work via OBD port.
