Voters send Rishi Sunak a message in local elections | LBC analysis

18 күн бұрынBallots are being counted after a swathe of local and mayoral elections across England and Wales.
Over 2,600 council seats across 107 local authorities in England are up for grabs, along with ten high-profile mayoral races in major cities and regional authorities. Londoners will also elect 25 Assembly members.
Separately, 37 police and crime commissioner roles will be decided upon across England and Wales through today's balloting.
But the Blackpool South constituency has garnered particular attention, as a new MP will be chosen, following the resignation of former Conservative Scott Benton, in a by-election.

@@jeffsimon9594 Im not calling for a boycott of the channel and doing so wouldn't change anything as the majority of viewers are more leaning to the right due to the nature of the presenters. Im just making sure that the comments are seen by the channel owners to show people are unhappy about the removal of one of their best presenters. just boycotting the channel wouldnt show visible support for Sangita and im sure the channel would rather people just leave and let them get on with (IMO) biased approach.

@@jeffsimon9594 Yes, I was concerned that leaving comments might help LBC. While I'm unhappy about Sangita, I'm more distressed by the thought that Conservative FOI, Labour FOI or some other overly-powerful foreign government lobby group has the power to censor British journalists.

I stupidly voted Tory in the past, mainly because my parents did. But last night my votes went to Labour, even though my candidate is against the things I love. But we need a change, we need to go back to national organisations for rail, energy, health, and more. We need to get rid of a billionaire pm. We’re £1,800/month worse off than in 2019 and that’s ridiculous. 😢

Well said. Yes. None of them are left wing parties. But the British left are the biggest suckers for falling for this narrative that Starmer's party is anything close to being left wing, and also, that Labour need to move to the right to win an election. Neither is true. And we'll be in the same position we are in now, in 5 and 10 years. Fed up with a government that puts those with money before those without it. Helping to create a society where the gap between rich and poor continues to grow, and public services continue to struggle and collapse.

Never voted Tory and never will, but not voting Labour: they changed their mind on the Green deal, they took too long to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and Starmer said that he didn't see a case for rejoining the EUs single market. Labour will still win the GE, so I can vote with my conscience.

In my Newcastle area, I didn't see any labour campaigning, not even things through the letterbox but came across large numbers of people everywhere I went handing leaflets to advocate Jamie Driscoll for Mayor. I also noted when voting how few candidates put their address on the ballot. Politicians who are afraid of their people are not people to vote for.

Families are struggling to survive. The government says it has no money but can find £12 billion to sponsor a war in Ukraine. The government is paying the price for being incentive to the needs of the people.
