For what it's with Nicole, my first thought when I clicked on this video was "oh her hair is looking really nice" lol I'm also early enough to get to be the one to tell you, that bird that got killed at the beginning was based on Matt and Marisha's actual pet bird, Dagon, who died while they were animating this season. They forgot they put him in the show until the episode aired.

The lil fluffy bird in the first minute that got eaten by a plant in the fey wild was modled after Matt's & Marisha's pet bird, who passed while it was under production and they had completely forgetton they'd put him in the episode there and the reaction is 🤣😭 horrified but laughing between the sobs, it's so funny funny but sad. Lil easter egg for ya, rip pet bird. ❤

the thing that can teleport Syngorn? Threshold Crests. I remember because of the whole deal/trick that Percy and Keyleth end up playing on Garmelie in the campaign, since, y'know, wordplay and all. Also one of my favourite little scenes in the campaign lol

Vax is still pissed at Percy for causing Vex's death. At this stage Liam's mum was also lost to Cancer so he was going through death in both real life and the campaign.

27:30 oh we know Scanlan's age... Sam made him 69yo at level 1, because of course he did. I remember Talesin talking about voicing this episode and the next, playing Percy as the anime fan who thinks they know everything about Japan, finally visiting Tokyo and finding out the hard way that they actually know nothing. Also im glad I'm not the only one who gets the Neverending Story theme in my head watching the opening to this episode.

Iirc, last season Vax was mainly mad at Percy for pointing a gun at him. Vex was the one who kept pressing Percy to confide in the team more. One thing that gets lost in translating the streaming campaign to a half-hour cartoon: in the campaign, the players tend to explore their characters' emotions thoroughly, so if someone's keeping a significant secret, we know and empathize with their reasons. In the cartoon, failures to communicate feel far less motivated.

it is a testament to Taliesin's talent that he was able to make an arrogant, mansplaining rich aristocrat so endearing to so many viewers. But he is wholly responsible for Vex dying - he pushed her to ignore Vax's admonition, he touched the armor and set off the trap - and that set Vax up on this journey with the Matron. Vax is more forgiving than I would have been. Kima had said that Syngorn had vanished back in episode 5.

This is totally unrelated to this EP but I think Nicole would appreciate the knowledge that in the campaign Vax (with Keyleth's enthusiastic help) fulfilled his brotherly duty to annoy his sister by braiding Trinket's fur and covering him in pink bows and flowers.
