When we lifted the head on my vq35de the first time at almost 30psi we turned it back down to 20 and it ran like clockwork so the statement at the end is true

With the latest addition of evidence, it's hard for me to blame Admin for more than malicious compliance. Like the client, Admin's business reputation is dependent on their relationship with their following, but as tuning specialists over sole content creation. Admin has dirty tune allegations, but they are capable tuners to a factual extent. The client made an incredibly stupid decision to pinch pennies on headers, considering the money spent on the engine. Having the builder tune their own flagship assembly is always ideal for longevity, and was really a no-brainer with a warranty included. Moncef's contribution of drama and blame bias to Soho appears to be reactionary. I don't fault Moncef for trying to save face and reputation as a tuner. Admin-sized businesses do not typically fair well against the size of consequences from this case. It was a difficult situation with a decision to be made, and it's unfortunate his elbows-out response was so defensively skewed. The client waived Moncef's concerns of due diligence on the record. Then he willfully drove the car for 1.5 hours under constant coolant consumption. This guy had to be in shock of shock from the engine failures for his consecutively bad decisions that followed. Could you imagine weighing the cost of damage to your flagship engine over the cost of a tow? I've watched the client's video briefly mentioning this case, and the only thing I learned was that his YT merch runs $70 for t-shirt. Maybe I'm too poor to buy one and all I can do is bitch about it. What I understand is that a large portion of devoted supporters in car content comes from younger, impressionable minds with big dreams. My broke-ass doesn't like the real possibility that the client uses his platform to pass costs of his fuck up onto those devoted followers, rather than utilizing that support to ultimately create content. The client is entirely at fault, and I'm spiteful that his manipulative ego has brought both of these companies down.

Sounds like it was Griffin's fault for asking Admin to push the turbo kit past its limits. NEITHER soho or admin are to blame here.

So let me get this right.. SOHO Motorsports offered this man a complete new engine build if Admin Tuning covered the expenses of labor of the assembly and machining. Meaning this option would grant Griffin a new engine tuned in-house by SOHO motorsport making the power he was going for… forrrr technically free? Yet, Griffin said no. And continues to post videos here and there about the situation. I have been a SOHO fan and an Admin fan since I got into the Z platform. With the offer you gave him that's like winning the lottery. I say rekindle the SOHO/Admin relationship cause it seems that Griffin is at fault for pushing the tuner after being told the consequences and blaming the party that tried to work with him.

You guys have tuned my g37 and I have nothing bad to say . My car runs perfect and has ran perfect. I blew the original motor due to gallery gasket not the tunning. When I installed my new motor I called you guys and I was given the retune with no hassle. Thank you for being a honest shop .

Admin chose items here and there to develop opinions. My favorite part was when they just tried to skip over the fact that the spark plug exploded inside the cylinder 🤣🤣🤣 He’s a professional engine builder and inspector until “the customer mentioned that was from a spark plug or something. IONNO” 😂😂😂 If I was in sohos shoes, I wouldn’t warranty it either. If I was in admins and griffins shoes I would’ve taken that deal all day. Always drama with the VQ world. I swear.

We honestly need videos like this. I don’t know why the tuning aspect has to be kept secret. It should be an open source kind of thing just like how you guys compared the admin tune to OEM and showed all the data log info. I think that’s what VQ owners want. They want videos like this that compare different VQ tuner data logs and ask these questions when going thru all the data. For example “tuner increased boost but only gained a small amount of hp. Something is off because of XYZ reason. Tuner continued to increase boost which is bad because of xyz reason. Why did the tuner continue to increase boost, timing, etc when conditions were not favorable”

how bad admin tunning is? I’ll start my engine blew up cause of him same issue what happened to your guys engine, rod knock 😑 now keep in mind my car was N/A and still is N/A just your typical FBO q50 3.7 told him about it, he was trying to blame the fuel could’ve been dirty or I was running it on low oil it wasn’t i took off the fuel pump the filter didn’t had any residue or dirt the fuel tank was clean, the oil level I typically check it every week or so. cause I know vqs have some oil consumption. that night I checked the oil before I took it to a car meet oil level was good 😢fast forward a year later got a new/used engine replaced switched tuner has been strong ever since

In my opinion when you buy a performance engine and you don't follow instructions or decide to push things beyond obviously safe or reliable power levels, it's your fault!!!seriously it's a super simple concept, cfm moved is always going to be the limiting factor, all turbos let you know the cfm range and if you decide to exceed that you're trying to drink a big gulp with one of those tiny coffee straws, restricted flow is something that can only be fixed by larger components.

What head gasket did they use ? SCE doesn't show the VQ. Their pro copper gaskets did require retorquing, use of head studs, and were ordered by bore size. The gasket should not be overhanging in the bore - Maybe Monsef got aggressive on the tune as the customer requested it, but something is up with the head gaskets - maybe they used the wrong bore, weren't torqued, used bolts instead of studs ??

I think both SOHO and Admin are to blame equally. Engine tear down in Admin's video shows concerns along with improper tuning being done pointed out in this video. Admin and SOHO should've worked out an agreement but sad to see it turn to this.

5:58 yeah, nissan fsm is a multi step multi torque sequence. Bolts (or studs) are always tty and don’t ever require re-torquing. No full aluminum motor with mls gaskets snd tty bolts requires re-torquing

Well I just watched both videos and valid points were made by both parties. At the end of the day we're all Z enthusiasts and I'm sure as a Z head you've watched countless videos from both Admin & SOHO while you '' dream built'' your own Z. I know I did. I've begin a friendship with my tuner/shop and have been through the ''up's and downs'' with the joys of ownership on these cars. When it's all said and done I hope they can mend there friendship and keep there businesses thriving along with posting videos for us to enjoy. Lastly I'm blessed to have found my shop and I would hope everyone like us who spend thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars find there shop. The best business is customer satisfaction no matter the cost!!

Ben Almeida has a very interesting and informative video about head settling & retorque. Seemed pretty clear from the tear down detonation & pressure killed it. Water/meth is brilliant for anything not already running methanol.

Look idk wat happened but as a honda guy that's built plenty there is only 1 spot which can leak oil never coolant ever unless you have a block/head that's not flat also to oil leak on the b series honda is very simple to fix if it was but if machine work was done correctly then it will seal period. As a air craft machinist that's always the issue that I've found bad quality machining again Idk wat happened here but parts fail especially no a days and you must check all parts for tolerance ect I've seen plenty that are out of spec nevermind metallurgically which I've seen in multiple fields aircraft cars machinery ect

My personal opinion is that admin got a little bit too aggressive on the tuning, but I still think he’s a really good tuner. He just probably got too aggressive on it, but as far as Soho to not let him to the car again and not give the warranty to Griffin that is messed up in my opinion, because admin sends a lot of business to Soho

Hello! Race engineer consultant here!!! I don’t like to comment on others tuning styles nor do I like to hint at what I do with my own tunes…But here goes. The IAT compensation where values are a 0 are not areas that are usually a problem. I’ll leave out how one can prove that. However, when a tuner pulls back on the compensation. They must make note to over compensate when their adjusted IAT compensation does start to take effect. This is common for situations where race car drivers will be running good fuels but find themselves sitting at idle during drag racing/autocross. I’m saying this with the context that I’ve PROVEN those IATs and my timing map to be safe. I’ll also add that I’m a meth head first, and a drunk second. For people that can’t laugh, I’m talking about engines. I don’t do meth nor do I drink excessively.

Retorquing a copper head gasket without bringing the engine up to operating temp makes no sense at all. This is decade’s old knowledge.

I have a detonation monitor for the Z. If these engines are so expensive then an investment in such is a no brainer. You presented logs on the dyno runs. Where is the critical parameter (Knock Strength)? What is the A/R on the turbine side? Can we see the power and torque curves (facts)? This would provide some insight on any sizing issues. I suggest you all work together to come to a conclusion as to what really happened. I believe the owner should take some blame too. As an act of good faith the tuner and the engine builder should agree on some kind of percentage refund. A safe limit should have been agreed between the tuner and builder. If the client wanted to go beyond that he should have been made to sign an agreement that the risk is now him. This is assuming that there was no issue at low power levels. At this power level I would also suggest monitoring Exhaust Gas temperatures and back pressure. At this power levels it is no longer fun and games. If you cannot monitor all these critical parameters then you cannot control such a highly stressed engine.

Admin isnt known for reliable tunes and soho only cares about high profile jobs this guys big pockets guaranteed him good soho service. As someone who dealt with them with shallow pockets and recieved mediocre service I've seen their priority first hand and this engine wasnt soho fault

A company that doesn’t accept any kind of accountability for their engine failing is not a company anybody should want to do business with.
