Outcome is correct but Malgus did not require a cybernetic suit to be held together. His suit was simply armor. He worse a respirator as his only means of physical aid. But he could live without it.

I think that Maul is extremely underrated just because he lost to Kenobi as a Padawan. Maul is more powerful than most people think. I hold high regards for Maul, and he is my favorite Sith, too.

Malgus would overwhelm Maul. Maul won battles, Malgus won wars and fought the very best at his time. He's noted by even Palpatine and Vader to be one of the greatest Duelests in force history, Malgus based his entire life around combat where Maul around his Master. I have to agree with your assessment. Maul is no punk. He was tough as nails and a highly skilled duelist but then so is Malgus. They were both aggressive and powerful in their strikes but as mentioned in this video and by some of the other commentators as well as some of the material I have read about him Maul preferred to best apponents through superior blade work whereas Malgus had no such personal m limitations placed on himself. Malgus's only drive would be to win by whatever means necessary. He would not hesitate to chain Force Power attacks in conjunction with his blade work to keep Maul off balance. Even if Maul realised in combat that he should do likewise Malgus's prediction for using this tactic more frequently would give his the edge both in superior proficiency with this tactic and an overall greater mastery with The Force. That alone should win him the victory but, as mentioned in this video, while Maul had combat experience, Malgus had so much more of it. Malgus fought Wars consistantly in his career fighting Jedi and rival Sith almost non-stop throughout his career. Maul wouldn't bring anything to the table that Malgus hadn't seen before and overcome. Many times Maul's victory over Jedi came from the Jedi he faced being thrown off by his double bladed style. Malgus was used to dueling doublebladed opponents and would not be taken back by dueling someone using this style. Ultimately Malgus's level of experience in dueling against many different styles of Lightsaber wielding Force practitioners would give him an edge in that he would not only have not difficulty in fighting a duelist like Maul having fought similar opponents before but he could very well bring tactics and strategies to the fight that Maul had simply never been exposed to. This would result in Malgus's victory. Maul's self imposed tactical limitations coupled with Malgus's not having such limitations and overall experience would be too much for Maul to overcome. Ultimately the Sith Assasin, Darth Maul, would fall to the True Sith Lord and Combat Veteran, Darth Malgus.

Look, I like Maul... as you might see from my profile pic. I'm not that much of a fan of Malgus either. But Malgus would eat Maul alive. A full on battle-forged warlord, the guy was a fucking tank. During a time when the Jedi and Sith openly waged war against each other, he wasn't just brutal but he was a strategist. Malgus survived an entire mountain coming down on his head. Maul is a great fighter and a superb assassin, but against Malgus, Maul would resign himself to becoming Malgus's apprentice.

New conclusion, Malgus would open up with Force Maelstrom and just plain win like that. Maul could do jack shit while being flown around in circles while being electrocuted. Also, not sure how Malgus struggled against Satele in their actual lightsaber duel in Aldeeran, he litterly had the fight through out the duel, untill Jace Malcom arrived with his plotarmor-no-jutsu (He was litterly unfazed or damaged by the Force Lightning, and suffered close to almost nothing from the grenade).

Maul is strong. But please... the old siths and jedis were way stronger. More combat experience, harsher/better training, higher expectations. Sidious Vs Malgus would be a matchup.

Malgus is my all-time favorite character in the Star Wars universe.

I have grown to respect Maul over the last couple years through his novels, but in the end he is incredibly 1 dimensional in combat. Malgus is a Dark Side power user disguised as a a pure brawler. Maul VS Malgus would be like a ballerina VS a heavyweight boxer, sure Maul would extend the fight through speed and movement but Malgus would brutalize him. I wouldn't be surprised if Malgus accidentally killed Maul early in the fight while simply trying to toy with him. I respect Maul, but Malgus is a freaking BOSS!

Maul only carried one ligbtsaber, as the blades on his saberstaff could be activated independently from one another, you can see that in the phantom menace when he dueled qui-gon on tattooine

Before this starts I'm putting my money on malgus with a medium to medium-high level of difficulty he's got far more combat experience and whilst like maul he tends to be a ferociously violent and angry fighter he is also extremly sharp minded able to think and switch on the go where maul is more a whirling dervish a blunt instrument if you will.

I disagree with the verdict. I think Maul would've beaten Malgus. Because he's faster and more cunning than Malgus. Malgus relies too much on brute strength.

Maul was not as likely to fall for a gamesmanship feint as a jedi, unless the battle happened before the battle with Obi. Hubris was a learned lesson for him. He had the speed of a fast jedi master, especially tuned with the force (evidenced by his survival after being cut in half) and posessed few if any of the weeknesses used to kill Malgus' other victims. I think his tenacity and skill combined with his endurance woul beat the bulkier Malgus the same way he defeated Jin. Malgus' over aggression and over confidence would get him decapitated. If Malgus' force lightning was used, it would come immediately after that mistake. To the OP: I definately enjoyed your version. Very fun comparison.

Darth maul would just because he has extensive training. I mean if he was kicked in the face (and as you said he has a high pain tolerance) he would be quick and recollect himself and be back in the fight. He is a trained assassin!!! a broken nose would not render him from a battle. If he dies its because he underestimated his opponent not from taking to long to recover per say. I can see where Malgus could win against Darth Maul because of his strength he wields but he is slower than maul and maul has more training than any Sith that I can think of thus I think it is far more likely that maul would triumph. though this is my opinion of course

I agree with Jensaari that Malgus doesn't only use form v, but also incorporates form three into his sequences. Therefore Malgus's defense would be much more efficient than this analysis gives him credit for. It is notable that maul tanked lightning from a night sister who was nowhere near as masterful as a Sith Lord, so his lightning resistance is probably not as great as people claim. Malgus has slain scores of Jedi, he has seen just about every trick in the book and it is hard to believe that maul would bring anything new to the table. Maul has defeated opponents who may have trained in Lightsaber dueling, but were never really expecting a life or death situation, much less against a sith. Maul is a consummate martial artist, but when you are realistic about his ability to handle force lightning and his lack of experience and consider Malgus's aforementioned use of form III, and scores of Jedi kills one sees that Malgus is much more likely to win than this video gives him credit for. Also, why no saber staff? That thing is maul's trademark; in tcw he uses a single blade because he can't get a double. Give the guy what he wants!

Just don't really see Maul winning, Malgus in his time fought the very best the Jedi had to offer and either won or at least almost won, Maul fought some tough guys but Jinn doesn't match up tp Windu or Yoda and Malgus would have actually defeated one of Yoda's predecessors if it had been one on one

I'd say that Maul is the better duelist, having trained hard his entire life and is more adept at using the dark side or hate, to fuel him in a more precise manner. Malgus is hard to block and will thrust at the right moment, which worked well against defensive Jedi, but I wouldn't say it would work well against Maul. Malgus could probably win through the force, in which Maul is trained against, like a non-force user would be, but the Force is like magic, giving the willing and knowledgeable much power, leaving the ignorant in defeat, but Malgus would probably be tempted to face Maul head on for the most part, which I think would be Malgus's downfall.

It would be awesome if you did a Luke Skywalker vs Mace Windu versus series and/or Ben Skywalker vs Galen Marek and/or Jacen Solo vs Count Dooku and/or Darth Caedus vs Darth Sidious. I know the characters of Ben Skywalker and Jacen Solo are no longer canon though I get a strong feeling they may be in episode 7, these battles would be pretty cool regardless. Great video with lots of detail, though it seems clear that you've hugely underestimated (I'm assuming it's an underestimation, as if you've read all his EU and that's your overview of his force powers then I don't know what to say) the extent of Maul's force abilities/power, and just as everyone else seems to have done you've overlooked the fact that Maul is no longer immune to force lightning (or the pain derived from force lightning - it's not clear whether Maul literally just takes the pain or whether he was simply proficient in tutaminis prior to his metal legs) - everyone assumed that Maul could withstand Mighella's lightning but Sidious' was just too powerful, but what clearly has happened is that Maul's metal legs have effectively nullified his resistance and rather turned him into an amplifier - I appreciate the clear divide in power between Mighella and Sidious' force lighting, but nonetheless the divide between Maul's reaction simply wouldn't be that great. Also have you been reading SOD, because Maul is looking pretty badass at the moment, and it sounded like you'd accepted it was game over for him (I appreciate you're not a wizard and therefore couldn't have known what was going to happen to him in SOD, but just wondering because you seem fairly positive Sidious ended him). Basically I'd say Maul would hands down win this one; Malgus is his ideal enemy. Every move Malgus made Maul would be a step ahead with his ludicrous speed (close to equal of that of Sidious!!), Maul is hands down the better physical combatant (one of Malgus' strengths to fall back on) and the only way Malgus could possibly have won this once upon a time would be back before Maul's sobering lesson about overconfidence and rashness (ie getting sliced in 2), back then Malgus would've been able to lull him into a sense of a false upper hand and then strike, but Maul wouldn't fall for that now. Despite Malgus arguably being the more powerful of the two, Maul is literally the perfect opposition for Malgus (IMO).

Malgus was among the most powerful Sith when they were at their height of power. Regardless of how powerful Maul seemed, he is simply out classed. Don't get me wrong Maul was the best part of Phantom Menace and a badass, but Malgus is a monster.

I'm so glad that you actually made combat experience a factor. Not only was Darth Malgus war itself, as you put it, but Jedi and Sith were both far more skilled in combat back then, due to the fact that there were more of each. Fighting force users on a regular basis was part of their basic training... unlike the time period for Maul, where it would be simply glossed over by the Jedi due to their belief that the Sith were gone.

I agree that Maul would get smashed by Malgus not just because he is one of my favorite Sith Lords but because Maul was not completely trained in the force and plus Malgus has far superior experience in battle and more dueled with his saber. In the battle with Shan it took a huge force of energy to defeat Malgus which Maul could not even generate like I said Maul is only an assassin while Malgus is a full blown Sith Lord with an army plus Malgus's brute force would kill Maul

Great vid as always. I was just thinking about when you were talking about Darth Maul's force abilities and how they were used more or less as desperation moves. So at the end of the video I was thinking when Darth Malgus kicked Darth Maul, Darth Maul as a desperation move he would use a force push to ward off Malgus. At first I was contemplating whether or not it would work but then I saw him use it against Obi-Wan in the Clone Wars which gives it the potential to work. Using this tactic he could buy enough time to recover and continue the fight to give him the potential to win. (I also am a little bit of a Darth Maul fanboy) :P

I think these 2 would have complimented each other nicely as a front line team. If they got to know each other and work with each other I could only imagine how the battle of Alderaan would have turned out.

Darth Maul was able to defeat Grievous, the famed Jedi killer of the Clone Wars, in a fair 1v1, slightly and momentarily overwhelm Sidious, one of the most powerful force users of all time, enough to go on the offensive, and hold his own in a 1v2 against master Jedi twice; one such encounter involving Mace Windu, one of the most powerful Jedi masters of that time, going so far to call the 1v2 a "fair fight" implying that he could take either of them alone. Not only did he call it a fair fight, but he said "finally" as if he'd been waiting for one. C'mon, Darth Maul doesn't lose because he got kicked in the nose really hard.
