This is the first start of my 2110cc engine that I built from scratch for my '57 oval rag top bug. It couldn't have gone any better, and sounds awesome! Here are the engine specs:
- 150 HP
- 82mm forged chromoly counter weighted and balanced crank
- 5.4" forged chromoly I-beam rods
- straight cut cam gears
- Eagle street race cam
- Mahle big bore pistons, 90.5mm
- CNC wedge ported heads, 42mm x 37.5mm stainless valves
- dual Weber 44mm IDF carbs, with velocity stacks and jetted for 5000 ft. elevation
- match ported big beef manifolds
- Ceramic 1 5/8" A1 sidewinder header exhaust system, with heater boxes
- lightened flywheel, 12 lbs.
- stage 1 Kennedy pressure plate, with dual friction clutch
- Magnaspark II electronic ignition distributor, 8.2 mm spark plug wires
- full flow oiling system with external oil filter and sump, 6 qt. oil (stock is 2.75 qt)
- 9:1 compression
- all engine tin installed, working thermostat even!
- light weight lifters
- welded and balanced fan
- Gene Berg breather
- Bernie Bergmann linkage
Normally one would have to remove the spark plugs and crank, crank, crank to build up oil pressure before starting. I used an external oil pump to prime the oil system, so I had instant oil pressure :)
