You should’ve checked charcoal canister first. When they go out, they tend to take out the n80 purge valve. It gets contaminated with charcoal deposits. It’s very common on the 3.6 VR6/2.0 Atlas engines, 2.0 Tiguan engines, less common on 1.5 Jetta/Taos. When the jet suction pump craps out, it usually takes out the charcoal canister and n80 valve. That dealer sounds wack. They should provide one. Shouldn’t give you issues even though it’s tuned.

@@JacesOwnWorlddid that fix the problem? I have the same bucking issue. believe I'd have to change the charcoal canister and suction jet pump
@JacesOwnWorld
@JacesOwnWorld 8 ай бұрын
So I never replaced the jet suction pump, but I did replace the cannister and the N80 valve. Neither of those fixed my bucking issue, but when I disconnect the N80 valve connector, the bucking goes away. So I just drive the car with that disconnected, and the car runs fine. Maybe I should get the jet suction pump replaced, and I know it has an extended warranty from VW, but last time I scheduled an appt with VW the service was horrible. Also, the guy said they would run tests, and if they found out it wasn’t my jet suction pump, then I would have to pay for all the Dx’s and labor, which would exceed $500. I said screw that. Tbh, that’s how VW gets more $$ from customers. They will say the part isn’t faulty, and then require payment. What they should be doing is just replacing the part period! Regardless if it’s working or not. So maybe it is the jet suction pump, but I have no clue how to test it beforehand. Do you?

Have same issue took car to dealer they told me i needed a new gas tank and charcoal canister, because the fuel filler flap was bad. So i told them to just change the suction pump per the recall, they said they dont have the part. They blamed my fuel overflow on the fuel filler flap so total cost to fix was $4300 dollars. They said i needed a new gas tank. Stealership indeed

I just saw on the forums that someone had p0456:evap code system (very small leak detected). He checked his canister in the rear and their was a leak of smoke coming out. If I could post pictures here, I would. Best of luck man

Who was your service advisor? That doesn't sound right. I have had a good experience with Thomas, he's a cool guy and very helpful. He would regularly call me with updates as things were progressing. What you said about diagnoses is spot on. Everytime I go I drop it off Thursday and usually don't hear back till Monday afternoon. I can only assume they have a large amount of vehicles to service hence the delay. Which is counterintuitive to setting an appointment. I had a similar reaction to service in regards to tune and drivetrain components. I had some smoke coming out (turned out to be fuel on startup) and Thomas called and explained it flagged for a tune (which I didn't tune it myself) and said they can't get warranty approval with that flag. In regards to rental, I had to get my steering rack replaced and it took more than two months due to manufacturing delays. After 5 days (th, fr, sat, sun, mon) without a car they sent an uber to my house and then drove me to that enterprise you mentioned. The enterprise is always packed and I spent an hour waiting everytime i was there. I had an enterprise car for about 7 weeks then Thomas called and had me put into a dealership Tiguan since the rental was costing them so much. Overall not an ideal setup, but I wasn't complaining since it was all free and only costed some of my time. Outside of that they've always offered to Uber me there and back free of charge. Keep the channel updated with your next car, I'm curious to see how it plays out.

I’m not sure who my service advisor was, but he was nice and polite. I just think they’re not being upfront with their customers. Also t tell them one thing over the phone, and then another when you come in. There’s no purpose of making an appt if your car is going to be there for days. If they have a large amount of vehicles getting serviced, then let your customers know ahead of time so they know what to expect when they bring their car in. That is ridiculous on how they kept your car for that long. If they know a part is going to take months, or even days, let the customer use their vehicle until they actually are ready to work on it! More than likely the customers vehicle is just sitting in the lot, waiting to get worked on. But I’m sure they have some “deal” with Enterprise, where they just send customers to them, and Enterprise makes money and gives incentives to the dealerships. It’s all a scam!! Customers are treated last nowadays! I honk that so dumb on VW’s end to put you in a rental from Enterprise for that long! If they just gave you a courtesy car from the start (that they would essentially get super cheap and write off as a company anyways so it costs them hardly anything to have courtesy vehicles available for customers), they would have saved so much more money! At least you have had good luck with them. My VW dealer experience has been the worst out of all the brands I’ve owned. BMW has ironically been the best. I mean, they never have been willing to help me out. The moment they know I’m tuned, and they run away from doing anything at their cost. And then I also have called/shows up at VW, to ask about a certain thing, they give me the run around because they don’t want to help OR they give me completely falsified info. They almost sound like they had no idea how to work on this car. Same kind of experiences I’ve had with INDY VW shops. I’ve brought my car into three different INDY shops through my ownerships. Previously was for turbo failures, and having them install a new turbo, and the latest for a clutch install. Well, the INDY shops that did my turbo installs gave my car back with it running weird, and not knowing why (and immediately resorting to the “it’s time related” excuse), and the INDY shop that recently did my clutch just did a piss poor job at the install. All of them were about making a quick Buck, and not really taking care of my car. So when I got my car back running weird after the turbo installs, I went home, and fixed it myself! I’ve also asked a VW dealership tech, when I was at the dealership, about wastegate issues and if they sold wastegates on their own. He began to tell me it’s impossible to install a wastegate in its own in this car, and I have to buy a new turbo to do it. I knew he had no idea what he was talking about. I went home and installed a wastegate on my own!! It’s these types of things that have really turned me off on VW dealers, shops, and techs. They don’t care about my car. Just trying to make a quick buck, where when I had my E46 M3, I found an INDY BMW tech that was //M certified, and I continued to take my M3 to him for 5 years because he was affordable, knowledgeable, nice, fast, but overall, he literally treated my M3 as if it was his car! I have yet to find that with VW. Will do man. I’m rethinking what I want as my next car due to being absolutely a#* fu#*#*d with gas prices right now by our corrupt government. So I’m honestly thinking keeping this GTI, but getting a super economical second car or EV as my daily. I hate being forced to buy EV’s, and I don’t really want to give in, but these gas prices are nuts!

I tried following suit and unplugging my purge valve and made my issue worst 🙃. I also popped a P0456 code afterwards as well. This hesitation issue is so annoying. I've replaced the suction pump, EVAP canister, filter, pressure regulating valve, and leak detection module along with the n80 valve and it nothing. I'm thinking my fuel tank is bad but not really trying to replace it.

I'd like to add I bought a used EVAP canister, everything else was new. Not sure if not buying new was a bad idea.

Dang! That’s crazy man! You replaced everything related to the purge valve! I don’t get that code, but I get a P0444 code when the purge valve is unplugged. It goes away when I plug it back in. Your hesitation/bucking issue might be unrelated to mine unfortunately. O would think buying a used evap canister would be fine as long as it was operating fine before. Where did you buy yours from? Sellers name?

dealerships suck bro. They do not care at all. You need to find a good vw shop that will take care of you. easier said than done depending one where you live. but ive always had bad experiences with vw dealerships running a muck on me. had my battery replaced one time from the dealership after only 1 year of owning, and they tried to make me pay for a battery because i had after market headlights that have a wire that connects directly to the battery. all this even though it was only a 1 year old car. but i ended up calling the main desk and talked to the owner and he cared so much about taking care of me that he went back there into the service center and made them give me the battery for free. I got taken care of by the owner. The servicing guys do not give a shit

Yeah, they suck bad! I actually had very good experience with BMW dealerships, and finding a really good BMW mechanic, when I had my E46 M3. But with VW, it’s just been crap experience after another, and I can’t seem to find a good VW mechanic that I actually trust to treat my car right instead of just trying to make a quick buck. Maybe there’s someone in the Phoenix, AZ area, but I’m not sure. I usually just leave the work up to me and my buddies, as I do almost all the work myself on my car with no issues. That’s a crap experience you had! They hassled you about a damn battery! That’s ridiculous! Glad you were able to sort it out, but still, you shouldn’t have had to go to the owner to let him know. I’m sure he’s a busy person, and ultimately they should be training their service techs for customer service as the #1 priority.
