@@frankyghost7256 0.0 is where I set it and where the Stealership sets it. I have never had any issue (touch wood) with this value in the 12 year I have had the car.2 timing belts changes done.

I think it helps fine tuning the PD cam lobes, i did my TB and now hard starts, smokes on idle, sounds like a T72 tank, i didnt check torsion yet but its my next step. With old belt it started having hard starts only lately, but ran ok i guess. was overdue by 13k km. SDi engine code BDK 2.0L Also must mention I did the timing check 3 times, each time i was scared i messed up and aligned crank and cam to TDC and restretched. Checking torsion is importznt after TB IMO.

Yes, none or very hard starts are usually the result because the timing is too far off.

The tolerance is + or - 6 but the absolute ideal value should be as close as possible to 0.0 when the engine temperature is at 90 degrees Celsius. Why this guy wants it at -2.5 is beyond me.

Correct is between -1.5 and 2.5

no. moj BLS ma mat -2.5 až -3. lenže to som nenašiel v žiadnom návode lebo nemám prístup k návodu. nikdy som nemal problem na emisnej, až ked som to mal nastavené na +2. dalsim problem pri nastavení na +2 bolo že, ak som mal motor zahriaty na vysokú teplotu napr. po dlhšej jazde do kopca, na kopci som vypol motor a po 5 min prestávky sa objavil problém z teplyím štartom. po 20 minutach už štartoval normálne. auto pri nastaveni na +2 smrdelo (ale chapem že to môže bit len moj pocit). po nastavení na -2,5 už nesmrdelo ale, hlavne zmizol problem z teplyim štartom. su auta čo maju bit nastavene na 0 a možno su auto co maju bit nastavene aj na inu hodnotu. ja som to mal vlastne nastavené o 5.5 až 6 stupnov špatne a takto sa to prejavilo. a ta hodnota +-6 podla mna znamená že, do tejto hodnoty ti to ukáže ale ak si mimo tak ti ukáže 0. to je ale iba moj postreh a pocit.

No já co jsem si stahoval z erwinu originál servisní manuál tak tam o tomhle nic nepíšou. Jediný co tak že se to má zaaretovat přípravkama a to je vše. Ale koukal jsem na hodně videí kde se to lidi snaží nastavit na nulu. To by mi i dávalo smysl že nula je ten střed. Ale nevim.

pred výmenou som to mal na -2.5. po vymene 0.0. potom som zhodil remen ešte raz, nahodil naspet a bolo tam +2. tím chcem povedat dve veci a to že pred výmenou bolo -2.5 originál a druha vec ze tam staci tak malý pohyb (stačí na to škaredo pozret) a už sa to posune

VCDS, measure block / 004. If it is -, it is retaded, + is advanced. Best performance from +0,5 to 0,0. If you work as this guy, turning cam and not sprocket, clockwise is advancing timing, anticlockwise is retarding (1.4 tdi 59kw)

Bxe engine is a 1.9 8 valve pd engine if I remember correctly.

What are you talking about? Your post does not make sense. You talking about adjusting torsion value when engine is warm and then you say that timing belt will worn oht faster if you dont do it? Wth?

I think every engine has it differently. for my bls it's right -2.5 -3

No. 0.0 can mean completely wrong. This value should change a bit with RPM. If it stays on 0.0 then it is out of sync!

You can get it close enough to run right when the engine is cold, then fine tune when it’s hot.
