Still got my 97 plate, mulberry. Just over 200k miles on it. Getting the headliner and exhaust manifold replaced and bit of bodywork for rust. Goes like a rocket

ive owned my 93 windsor blue for over 20 years now. They were sophisticated in period and had real class. Subtle, refined and as smooth as silk, what volkswagen did so well once upon a time, i dont think ill ever sell mine 👍❤

I sometimes wonder why VW doesn’t make the VR5 or VR6 engines anymore, they were clearly a hit. If they brought them back for the next Golf R they’d be hot af

Emissions is the killer! As Euro emission regulations tightened, car manufacturers have had to down size on cc and revert in most cases to turbo charging to gain similar performance. That was the killer for the VR6

I had a deep metallic blue 5 door VR6 1995 model. I owned it in the late 90's and loved it. The V6 Engine was amazing and the subtle styling was cool. I traded it for 3.0L Alfa 166. Nowadays I drive a diesel....not everything in life is progress....

LoL - my wife and I had some great cars in the 90’s ourselves, Escort RS Turbo, Astra GTE, Impreza Turbo, Celica GT4 and then with family commitments swapped them for diesels and 1.0 litre city cars .........but fortunately the cycle has returned once again to some tasty sports cars. Hold in there and I’m sure that the good days will return 👍🏻

I've got the 90hp premium unleaded 1.8 CL from 1997, and even that one is so much fun to drive and has great low torque but also really builds up around 4-5k rpm

I’ve had my VR6 10 years now, and I can’t bear to get rid of it! I’m slowly getting it back up to scratch. We don’t really have to deal with rust on cars like this here in Australia, but there were only ever about 730 brought in to the country and a lot have been crashed or thrashed so there aren’t too many around now.
@FastandFun3 жыл бұрын
Tbf here in the UK you really don’t see many around. This particular car is my sons. It needs a little TLC but largely good and just love the fact you’re driving around in a 2.8 VR6 engine in a golf! Opposite of what is happening now (cars getting bigger, engines getting smaller!) 👍🏻
@alextegg38383 жыл бұрын
@@FastandFun It looks like quite a nice example, and still reasonably stock. I’ve seen so many videos on here where people just ruin the cars, so I’m not surprised there aren’t too many around. Yeah it’s great having an NA V6 in a relatively small hatch! People out here joke that all the MK3 is only good as a parts car, but I like the whole thing 🙂

Got a 5dr Vr6 in mauve ultraviolet and all the points u’ve made are the reasons y I’ve had it just shy of 10 years. (9.5 years have been of it stood on the drive but when u become a dad human baby becomes more important than your petrol one lol) but it’s comin back soon father/sonS project hopefully video of revival coming soon. But despite many many offers over the years to sell I’ve kept it because I know it will only appreciate in value. The mk3 vr6 will be going into the history books it was the pioneer of big engine/small car. Will b handing the keys over to my son when he hits 18 (inshallah)..... here’s ur 6 figure car son happy birthday 😉. He’s 8 now and already mega gassed about it coming back; everyday: “dad when’s my vr6 getting bk on the Road?). I intend to surprise him on his 9th birthday with it restored and road ready.
