I had mine seat leon fr 1.4tsi for 10 years almost. Since 2013 and it has over 180.000km now. I changed timingbelt and coolant pump 2022 and thats it. No oil consumption no repairs in 10 years. I changed engine and transmission mount last week just because it was getting little sloppy for my taste. And its ben stage 1 tuned for many years. I just do regularly oil changes and valve cleaning every 2 years. Really its ben a very good engine

I recently (February) purchased a 1.2 TSI 105HP with (currently)120K km. And recently experienced excessive oil consumption. About 2 months ago, I received a message telling me to check the oil. It was then refilled with 1.5L oil. After one month and -/+1500km, the message popped up again. Now i am currently being assigned to a mechanic shop to get my engine rebuild/revised under warranty. If you’re interested, i’ll keep updating this comment.

@@gentlemonster5357 So you have pre upgraded TSI version. Main faults to this engines are the piston rings are to small therefore oil overflow into combustion chamber and burns with fuel, also I think, cam chain is dipped in oil (thats the way its designed) and over time it disintegrates chains tensioner as they made of plastic compound, that may cause chain to expand, skip a gear on the pulley and the piston will meet with valve, but before that happen it will knock camshaft out of balance first. Rebuilt will help only if they swap to upgraded pistons. Im not sure if this will be covered by warranty as its bad design fault. My advise? Get rid of it asap.

As a mechanic, what sometimes goes wrong is the water pumps in the 1.5 TSI, they start leaking, but it’s relatively simple and quick fix, it’s built together with the thermostat. Of all the engines the 1.5 TSI is my favourite.

1.2 tsi 2017, 160k km, never had any oil issue. It depends alot on how you take care of the engine. If you are cheap and change the oil every 20k then for sure you will have problems. If you change oil at 10k or 1 year, I guarantr you will have no issue with the engine. So don't be cheap and change your engine oil.

Grease it with high tempreture grease, I had the exact same issue at about 80K miles, on a 1.2 not come back for another 20K it’s just dirt building up around it. I used brake grease actually built for planes (up to 800+ degrees it’s rated for) and works fine On my Ibiza it’s cause the actuator is at the front of the engine with the turbo which is fine, but it’s not protected by any placeholder or wind break dirt so when in rain or wet dusty conditions the dirt is free to build up
